We were looking a place for dinner and luckely we found this restaurant. We were sitting next to the fire with a drink while choosing our meals - lovely. The meals we got offered were great! Well prepared, special in combination and from high quality. The friendly staff and the performance of the chef can be assessed only as very very good.

A warm and friendly greeting followed by great gin always means a great beginning to a meal out, but this was followed by great flavoured food which was well presented too. Faultless. Thank you very much Mountview for a lovely meal.

We had dinner here with family and enjoyed an excellent meal. The scallops were a particular favourite! They also have a cosy lounge where you can enjoy a drink by the fire before and after your meal which was really nice. We will definitely be back! :)

Only one other table in the restaurant taken so a quiet dining room ! It was our 1st visit & we had pre dinner drinks in the lounge by a lovely log fire . The waitress was very attentive & we ordered our meal & then went through to the dining room. A lovely surprise to be served an appetiser that was a baked Brie done in breadcrumbs so thankyou chef! We both started with a twice baked cheese soufflé followed by a rack of lamb & the other a loin if venison , both served with potato & vegetables & a glass of house red wine Pinotage !! We shared a desert of wonderful light date sponge with pecan nuts in a toffee sauce mmm! Coffee was taken back in the lounge by the log fire it was hard to leave that sofa. I felt the interiors were tired & in need of refurb & the dining room definitely needed updated . Also the music in the dining room needs to be changed , would love to help you with that one for sure. However the cheffing & attention with the waitress was amazing & we will be back to sample from an inviting menu!

We were staying near by as we could get into the Mountview Hotel but decided to have dinner there. We had a lovely pre dinner gin (from the many local on offer) by the fire. The meal was excellent and very tasty. I chose lamb and followed by a 'blondie'. After we had coffee and a wee dram back in the lounge. The staff were extremely professional and friendly. My only comment would be that the restaurant did not have much atmosphere, lights slightly too bright. Next time I would definitely stay overnight there. The hotel caters for bird watchers, walkers, and has car parking.

Stayed at local campsite nearby with my girlfriend and decided to have a fancy meal on our last night. The Mount view restaurant had a nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and the food was so rich and flavorful. I had pigeon to start and venison accompanied by a chocolate panna cotta, easily one of the fanciest meals I have ever had. Would highly recommend

We booked The Mountview Hotel for a special occasion and could not have been more pleased with the service we received. No question was too much bother when booking. Upon arrival we were shown into a gorgeous warm lounge and sat beside an open fire enjoying our drinks and perusing the menu. Our three courses were delicious. Would particularly recommend the scallops for starter and the vegetarian lasagna for main. After dessert, the staff surprised the bday girl with a rendition of happy birthday and a beautifully decorated dish with small chocolates and tablet. As if that wasn't enough, the hotel arranged for a staff member to drive us all home in the hotel minibus to save us having to book a taxi from another village. It really was 5* service and we will be recommending it to everyone we know who will be visiting this area.

I have to start off by saying we went for dinner at Mountview over 10 years ago and it was awful and I mean truly awful, so much so that even though we only live 10 minutes away we had never been back. What a change. Following an email to our self catering property advertising their new menu we thought we would give it a go, grabed some friends and off we went. Absolutely lovely meal, and if there has to be a niggle the only one would be that the portion sizes vary wildly between the various options. Friend's cheese soufflé was huge compared to the tiniest but gorgeous beetroot cured salmon. When we went back a couple of weeks ago 2 in our party had the risotto for their mains, absolutely delicious but really was a starter size portion and yes we like our food but we are also realistic about portion size. So like I say, a niggle, but it won't stop us going back. Service is excellent, staff are lovely, friendly, unobtrusive. Wine list is good and the selection of gins even better for a pre dinner drink. We've been back since and are due to go again this week. We feel that it is on a par with another local restaurant that we used to go to and now will choose Mountview over and above the other one because food and price are pretty similar.

My main course of sea bass was unfortunately overdone. Our waitress did offer to have another piece cooked but we did not have the time for this, so I declined and eventually the price of my glass of wine was deducted from the bill as an apology. My desert was quite nice apart from the passion fruit sorbet which was very sharp. My husband enjoyed his lamb but was disappointed with his dessert of sticky toffee pudding. Service was very good, but sadly we will not be returning.

The dining room at Mountview always felt like a canteen but some good soft furnishings have helped soften the atmosphere. The food was very enjoyable although we could have enjoyed it more with some decent vegetables. These have to be ordered separately apparently, a system which is a little silly as you never know what is going to arrive on your plate. But with 3 courses we ate very well indeed. Coffee at the end would have been nice if there was an espresso machine.

This lovely little bistro-style restaurant is hidden away on the outskirts of Nethy Bridge, part of the bijou Mountview Hotel. We chose it because other reviewers had mentioned the Mountview's understanding of coeliac gluten free dining, and we were impressed. In fact, very few of their dishes contain wheat flour so there is a very good choice. We had an aperitif (good local bottled beer and cider) in their elegant lounge while choosing from the tempting range of dishes. The sweet potato soup and the scallops with black pudding were both very good, and the gluten free bread with pumpkin seeds deserves a special mention. The ribeye steak with melted Scottish blue cheese main was excellent and the chef went to the effort of making really good coeliac friendly chips (ie shallow fried separately rather than cooked in the kitchen fryer). Other good mains of pork fillet with black treacle, though the puy lentils with the hake were rather lost among the stronger flavours of other vegetables. Just about made it to a crème brulee which came with gluten free polenta cake. Good wine list at reasonable prices. The service was super friendly, efficient and helpful. Dining room was relaxed, spacious and comfortable. All in all, a hidden gem which deserves seeking out.

We went in on the off chance of getting a table and were delighted that they could accomodate us. We asked about gluten free diets and were told that all the main courses are gluten free apart from the souffle. we waited in a comfortable lounge until our food was almost ready then went through to the dining room. The children's menu was limited but the food was excellent, our 4 year old enjoyed a half steak, we all chose something different and were all delighted with what we had. The desserts were amazing too. part way through our meal, we were lucky enough to see three deer running through one of the surrounding fields.

Four of us went out for a treaty meal at the end of our work week and it was a lovely evening all round.I had the scallops starter and the hake for main, both were cooked perfectly and very tasty. The one issue we managed to just avoid, was our vegetarian arriving and there only being one cheese soufflé left (the only veggie starter) - a disaster narrowly avoided. The staff were a delight, very friendly. All in all, a lovely meal out.

We returned here and eat again same as last year. The service and organisation were uncorordinated with no glases for water or things on menu cancelled, the staff are friendly. We stayed at the Mountview hotel only one night, but the wonderful restaurant was worth staying longer! Our meal was sourced locally (lamb, chanterelles) and beautifully presented. The delicious appetizers (scallops, bruschetta) preceded the lovely main course. We had a nice wine from the small but well stocked bar, plus a wee dram following dinner. Our breakfast the next morning was a scheduled one in which we were served porridge and then eggs, bacon, the works! The staff was very friendly and helpful with great service.

I think I've reviewed this before. The food is still delicious and the chef is clearly talented. I was delighted to find that the Isle of Mull Cheddar souffle was still on the menu and it was wonderful. The venison pie was also superb. Unfortunately no room for pudding as the portions are a very decent size! A shame the venison pie didn't come with vegetables - worth noting for this and other dishes. My biggest problem is they clearly have something against linen. This could be one of the best restaurants in Speyside but PLEASE PUT TABLECLOTHS ON THE TABLES and have LINEN NAPKINS. This may sound a little petty, but it would make a massive difference!

Forget the ambiance, chairs, paper napkins etc. Views were glorious, food very impressive and very reasonably priced. The Chef here is a wee gem producing very tasty food from a local menu. Why this place is not as busy as Andersons or the Old Bridge Inn, is a mystery to me! I pointed out that there is no linked phone number on the Trip Advisor link and I hope they correct this as this place is a gem!!!!!!! If you can't get a spot at the previously named establishments then this hotel restaurant is fantastic!!!! They just lack marketing ability but food is great!!!!!!! The Mount View Hoel restaurant is an absolute gem. I wasn't expecting such good quality food in a little town like NethyBridge. Visited the Mountview for my partner's birthday. I booked via email as I have dietary requirements which were dealt with professionally on requesting the menu, selecting dishes and seeking advice on ingredients.Lovely reception on arrival, we were shown into a cosy drawing room with a welcoming open fire and offered drinks whilst we made our choices for dinner. The extensive drinks menu was fully explained to us. My choice of non standard starter was accommodated. We were shown to our table a short time later in a charmingly decorated room. I asked the staff if my partner chose a desert, could they put a candle in it as it was his birthday. I'll get to what happened later. Starters were presented to us. My partner had the Isle of Mull cheddar souffle which he pronounced as delicious. My bread and oil was equally good. I had rump of lamb for main which was tender and perfectly medium rare. The parmentier potatoes were delicious and I was assured at all times that none of the ingredients in my meal contained any dairy. My partner had the sea bass which was as pleasant to look at as it was to eat.I didn't have desert but my partner did choose one - the chocolate tart which not only came with a candle but a chorus of Happy Birthday to boot - what a lovely, thoughtful touch. This really is the best place to eat in Nethy Bridge. I would return there for any special occasion we have and heartily recommend both the food and the exceptionally friendly and professional staff.

The hotel itself is comfortable if a little dated. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The restaurant food is the best in the area and well priced suggesting this chef obviously knows his/her stuff. The only criticism would be that the café type tables and chairs in the restaurant could do with being changed as the light wood did seem incongruous with the country house look.Change these and the cheap napkins to make this venue the destination of choice for locals and tourists alike.

Easy to reserve a place. Office staff were helpful as we're the bar and waiting staff when I arrived. I had soup and sea bass, very well cooked and presented, with a glass of wine and coffee to follow. Cost about £25 which I thought was fair value for money. Pleasant atmosphere, clean tables and surroundings. Diners should be aware that the hotel is also the base for wildlife watching holidays and the lounge - which I was invited to use - is also used by the resident guests, although this did not present me with any problems .

The restaurant is bright and airy with windows on two sides and great views of the sunset. The menu has changed and no longer comes with side plates of vegetables however the portions are good. I had salmon with puy lentils and tomatoes - delicious - and a chorizo mixture which I felt didn't quite go with the salmon. The cheese soufflé didn't quite live up to expectations based on memories of previous soufflés that we've had there over the years but was still good. Overall an average to good experience.

We have been coming to the highlands for 20 years and the Mount View is always one of the best restaurants for food that we go to year after year! Really nice to arrive on an evening and have a pre-dinner dring in front of the fire in the lounge before being shown through to the table with great views back across the Spey valley, to then return to the fire for coffee. The only slight criticism I have is that the restaurant can be a bit quiet as most hotel guests eat in another less formal dining room, and therefore lacks atmosphere. However, please be assured the food is well worth this slight discomfort! The icing on the cake is that if you join the dining club, you also get 10% off the food bill on future visits!
