A breakfast cafe on the Monckton industrial estate. Outdoor seating, very reasonable breakfast for the price. Just what we needed. Dog allowed to sit outside with us.

Food is good but they pick and choose to charge you a extra 50p for using card as and when they want. I've been in before and not charged this but today they tried. I mentioned I haven't been charged this before and the lady apologized and said don't I have cash. Its ridiculous when your a paying customer to be charged additional when your giving them service and there is no signs stating this in the cafe I won't be using them again. Went to Cha Cha Chai got a egg and sausage cheese muffin and the service was by far better and food was a lot better too!

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday lunchtime, hoping to treat my 96-year-old mum, who is disabled and has dementia, to a nice meal outside of her care home. Unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant. Upon arrival, I inquired about sharing a portion of fish and chips with my mum, as it’s easier for her to eat smaller portions due to her condition. The staff member mentioned she would need to check with management as their policy doesn't typically allow sharing. While I understand policies, the response from the staff was disappointing. My mum's condition means she often gets overwhelmed by large portions, and I help her by putting smaller pieces on her plate to make her mealtime more manageable. When the staff member spoke with her supervisor, I witnessed an eye-roll, which felt unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional. The supervisor then explained that sharing wasn’t allowed, even comparing my mum’s situation to another customer who is apparently 100, arrives in a taxi on her own and eats a full portion to herself - an example that felt irrelevant and failed to acknowledge the differing needs of individuals. It was upsetting to encounter such rigidity, especially in a place where many of the regular customers are elderly. A more empathetic approach would have been appreciated. As a fish and chip restaurant catering largely to an older clientele, it would be beneficial for staff to receive training on how to better accommodate customers with disabilities. Ultimately, we chose to leave and instead went to another Wetherby Whaler owned establishment where we usually go, where the staff were kind, understanding, and went out of their way to support my mum's needs. It was a far more positive experience. For anyone with elderly or disabled family members, I would recommend seeking out more compassionate venues where flexibility is given.
