Called today after visiting Newmiller Dam. Had read reviews on Facebook and we weren't disappointed! Beautiful flaky fish,freshly cooked. Would highly recommend!!!

Twice i have been now and both times chips and fish are overcooked. soon as i got them out of the packet they looked burnt even dogs didn't want them. Not a patch on Blue Marlin On Batley Road.

We came here because of rate my takeaway as you may know as the YouTuber but everything was not as good as he described. Will not be going here again. The food was not as tasty as descpripted and was a bit overdone.

This is the first time we have used this fish shop what an awesome place for staff and food excellent product and fantastic taste. We will definitely be using this fish shop again what a great service we received whilst we were there fantastic people and food well done.

Fish & Chips. Chips were burnt tasting & dry. The fish fillet had chunky flakes but again was dry due to being overcooked. Shame, I had high hopes considering the previous reviews. One to avoid.

Nearly killed myself trying to eat a special it was absolutely massive and top notch. Got a few chips thrown on for free and they were delicious. Perfect food perfectly priced !!

Must be one of the best fish shops in Wakefield. Be hungry when you go as the portions are large we saved some for dinner the next day the special will not fit on the plate the price like most food is quite dear (think£20 for two) but a nice treat

Absolutely gorgeous fish. Big white flakes and really fresh. No soggy batter just crisp melt in the mouth batter. I will highly recommended them.... and I am very fussy about my food.

Just in the area working a 13 hour night shift and wanted some fish and chips before I started I ordered fish and chips well done and that is exactly what I got and they didnt disappoint very delicious I must say ! Having been in the industry myself I do like to criticise or praise my fish and chips I eat and certainly I would never write a bad review I just wouldn't go back but I can safely say I will be coming back Friendly owner too

I used to visit this chippy every weekend when I went to my grandma's house from being a toddler, right up until she passed away when I was 16. I visited last week as my nan has just moved to the area (weird or what!). Even tho it's been 8 years since I last visited the food is still amazing, well worth the price you pay for it (around £7 for fish and chips which for the quality I think is great!). Damien is still behind the counter which made me really happy to see, so glad I went back. Hopefully I can convince my nan for another chippy trip on my next visit 😁

We won a family meal for 4 through our grandson’s Football ball club At Thornes Wakefield. We went on Saturday lunch time and were welcomed by the most friendly staff the guy spoke to my grandson about football and made his day. They were the best fish & Chips we have ever had , the fish was like “Moby Dick” massive 👍chips were well cooked - gorgeous peas and curry spot on . We will definitely be going there from now on .. Saw the positive reviews online, so after a meeting in Wakefield I decided to give George A green Fisheries a try. I'm glad I did, as I entered I was warmly greeted by the person I assume to be the owener. I asked about the different menus items and was informed the haddock was AAA grade. So I ordered fish and chips. The lady who then served me was also very welcoming, telling me the piece of haddock was rather chunky. She underestimated the size, the portion was massive, the batter was crispy and dark.the fish tender and delicious. The chips were dark yet soft. They complimented the fish well. Overall a fantastic experience. A chip shop that clearly regards customer service as highly as the food they produce. 5 stars

It’s abit hit and miss for my liking, Iv been a handful of times, mostly enjoyable. But on some occasions they are over cooked, personally I think there’s much better competition around the area as the prices are very steep for 3 star food.

Just had fish and chips from this chippy, never again, the fish looked a mess (taken photo) batter and fish like leather was inedible, for what they charge for fish and chips these days expect something decent.

The chips on this occasion were terrible, tasted awful, like they were using Castrol oil from scrap cars to cook them in, I have never tasted such disgusting chips in my life. The vinegar tasted very watered-down, this added to the terrible flavour of the items purchased from the establishment. The customer service in this establishment was dire to say the least, didn't listen to customer requests first time. I shall not be returning to this establishment any time soon! The customer is always right.

I'd seen a review on this little chippy and thought I'd try it out as ive tried several chippies around Wakefield and wasn't disappointed either. Crackin little chippy definitely best in the area good size and quality portions and cheap prices nice staff and owner a nice chap definitely worth a visit just go on google maps .

I tried these after reading good reviews and they are probably the worst fish and chips I have ever tasted,expensive small portions f chips,all badly overcooked most of them went in the bin I was shorted on my oder by a curry sauce,the staff were unfriendly to the point of rudenessn not a please or thank you after spending more than £40 and cash only,which is inconvenient to say the least. Never again

Just got fish and chips and they were faultless. My family have been coming here for years, best in the city and really reasonably priced too. To top it off he’s a great bloke and great to have a chat about Wakefield Trinity RLFC!!

Excellent fish and chips, chips crispy on the outside and not at all greasy. Fish batter crisp and tasty around a fresh piece of cod. Peas a bit runny. Overall, still worth 5 stars. Only 10 mins from the M1, I make a detour when passing, and recommend that to all.

Superb fish n chips with incredibly tasting batter which is dark golden and crispy proper old skool style,cracking portion of chips and the peas beans n curry are all great quality,good banter from behind the counter vert funny guys lol and on top of it all slightly cheaper than most in the local area,I pass 2 chippys to get here so it is that good lol

I was recommended here by a family member and I was not disappointed. The fish batter was crispy and fresh, the fish itself was plentiful, white, with really big chunks. The chips were tasty, new and crisp. Curry was good too. Really enjoyed my meal and will be back again. I also appreciated the pretty Begonias plants outside :).

Very nice traditional fish and chips just what you want from a chippy

My granddaughter and I have just enjoyed a delicious lunch of fish and chips from here, I won a voucher for them on the Wakefield Trinity 1873 club and the fish was amazing and we got lots of chips. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and it was a pleasure to visit.
