English very friendly and warm sense of welcome small quiet town where the air and wind are pure a good breath of fresh air I return there with my eyes closed

Brilliant team serving good quality food and atmosphere

We decided to meet friends there for lunch as we ate there the previous week and enjoyed what we had then. This time, not so much. The starters whilst not cheap were good. However the mains were a different story. We went for steak pie × 2 and liver and bacon x 2. The pie comes with chips but no veg!!! I asked for mushy peas on both and got them, the meat in the pie was a bit tough but not too bad but the short patry crust was like a biscuit sitting on top of the filling. We both had 7 or 8 chips. My wife wanted liver and bacon (comes with mash) but didn't want the mash. The portion that arrived was shameful. 3 pieces of liver which were thin enough to have been cut with a razor blade and hardly any bacon and a dessert spoon full of peas. We were all disappointed with the food and without doubt will not be returning.

Came here today for the first time for some food. We had the Sunday roast and the food was absolutely delicious. Far better than other places, this was actually very tasty. Great, welcoming, friendly staff that were very helpful. Blacksheep on tap too, so I knew this place was going to be a hit. Will definitely be back.

Called in for lunch and tucked into the steak and peppercorn pie. It was absolutely amazing. Atmosphere is amazing and Fran does nothing but look after everyone in the pub. Lovely friendly local with great beers in draught and a great selection of drinks. Will definately be back.

I really enjoyed my Sunday lunch. I've eaten in and had a takeaway o several occasions. Very good value for money everything is delicious particularly the meat, cauliflower cheese and the gravy. The homemade pies are also well worth a taste.

First visit ..just popped in to see what it's about ... Thought bit pricey Pint Cruzcampo and a mug of tea £8.30... not sure breakdown of each Maybe could share on here ..

Myself and family went to the Queens for Sunday lunch.Every meal was piping hot which is a big thing for me I hate cold food. I’m gluten free and I also had a full pork roast with Yorkshire puddings ,Roast potatoes and gravy. To finish GF sticky toffee pudding and custard. Best Sunday lunch I’ve had I ages.I highly recommend .

Wow just had a lamb dinner today was absolutely amazing. The lamb was so tender the veg seasoned well really tasty . The cauliflower cheese outstanding and dont even get me started on the guiness yorkies fantastic meal and well worth £7.00

Have eaten here on several occasions and it never disappoints. The food is always fabulous and Tasty. Everything is home cooked, including the chips which are amazing. There are plenty of delicious meals to choose from and the staff are always polite and really friendly. Good quality food at a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this pub for eating and drinking.

Popped in for a drink and bite to eat, saw it was Wednesday pizza night. Homemade pizza, chips and slaw for £10. We both ordered one. The chips are homemade, thick and delicious. The slaw thick and creamy. The pizzas arrived, they are huge, gorgeous base with extra toppings. Eyes were bigger than our bellies, so boxed what we couldn’t eat and took it home! Will definitely be back for more 😋

Lovely pub with great food and a fine selection of drinks. Large outdoor seating area for those sunny days too. Never seems to be over busy, which is strange but great for those who do call in.

Went to a 60th birthday party the buffet was the best by far I have ever had. Such choice.and quality food. Never seen such a lay out. The pork pie was to die for. So many different dishes not your sausage on sticks and sausage rolls and curled up sandwiches kind of do. Such a credit to all involved

Had a really nice meal, staff were very good. Unfortunately the experience was spoiled by noisy foul mouthed individuals. It's a shame as would happily return for the pub food and drink but don't want to be subjected to loud foul language

I was in Wakefield staying in a hotel close and me and a friend were looking to eat somewhere in the vicinity. We've passed the pub which is on Denny Dale Road previously on the way to the city centre but had never been in. We both opted for the quick bite; 4 oz rump steak (cooked to your liking) dressed salad and jacket potato for only £6.50 each. Excellent value for money and delicious. The menu is extensive and lots of choice. They even do a senior's 3 course menu for £13.00. The bar itself carers for all tastes and is well stocked. There's a pool room and TV's for sports days etc. They even let dogs in too, so if you've had an energetic walk with your pooch, put in here and relax together. The decor is modern and there's a large beer garden to the left as you enter the pub. Definitely going back when I'm in town again ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely pub and great food but drink prices are high £6 for an non alcoholic old mout cider! Same price as an alcoholic one that's not right not when restaurants charge half the price but apparently that's the price!

Walking my daughter's Dog Isla popped in for an hour beef sandwich with my wife Beverley. Fantastic skin on chips With it. Glad there was a bit of sun outside. Not been for a few years. Will be revisiting at some point.

Just had a cheese burger and gotta say its the best I've had in ages. My work mates also agreed. Shame this place don't do food on a Monday and Tuesday. Prices for food and drink are reasonable. Back working in wakey again next week, will visit again.

So after an excellent visit in June we came back for Sunday lunch. This wasn’t our smartest idea as they pub is clearly conserving energy. The pub was marginally warmer than outside and did impact on our overall choices. No starters & no pudding. Had we not been with elderly family members we would have left it was that uncomfortable. The food arrived quickly, two chicken roasts, a beef & a gammon. We received a centre bowl of mixed vegetables which the chef clearly hadn’t seasoned. Food was ok but a little cool. In summary I feel that this place is feeling the pinch and the overall quality & service have suffered. Will we return, who knows there are lots of establishments competing for the trade and many still with a customer focus. Sad really sad.

We had a long awaited family get together and was looking for a place to have Saturday lunch, but where we were able to talk and hear one another. The Queen's was decided upon, and what a brilliant decision it turned out to be. From the minute we entered we were made to feel very welcome. There was ample car parking and an outside area equipped with benches/tables, both were very clean and tidy. On entering the Queen's the decor and ambiance were more than I anticipated. There was a good selection of draught and bottled choices, and nothing was too much trouble for the excellent host (with his soothing Welsh accent). We sat down and ordered food from their menu, which contained something for everyone, as we ordered five different dishes. Again the price of the food and drinks was very reasonable. Our orders arrived together and everyone said how fresh and tasty the products were and what good value. Two of us tried the stone baked pizzas, whilst others had a small rump steak dinner, a beef and ale pie dinner and a steak and cheese wrap with chips salad and onion rings. Needless to say all the plates were returned empty. A young lady, who we took to be the landlady was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We can cause to use both the gents and ladies toilets, which were clean, fresh and well kept. All in all this little "Gem" of a place was a fantastic choice and will definitely be on our list for return visits in the future. Would thoroughly recommend!!!

I think it must be 25 years since I was here. Lovely place, very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Much bigger than it looks. Flat car park and entrance. Toilets also flat entrances. The pub spaniels sat on my foot so I couldn't leave.

Out for a family meal, sandwich combos, pie, peas & chips and the delightful Steak & Ale Pie. Excellent service, warm welcome & even warmer food. Probably one of the nicest casual pub meals I’ve ever had and my waist says that’s a lot. Many thanks and we will be back.

Had two meals there. Quite simply it was the best meal in England. We had a traditional beef dinner on Sunday and it was amazing. The chef’s name is “Brownie” and he knows his stuff. The pub is full of locals and they enjoy the food as well. They shut down the kitchen early on Sunday so best get there before 4 pm.

What an excellent little pub, all food was home made and fabulous. Myself and 9 colleagues ordered prior to arrival as we were on a works timescale, the staff were really friendly, we will definitely return.

I stumbled upon this place whilst driving through. I really fancied a good roast dinner, but got an amazing one instead. I had roast pork, the gravy was the best gravy I have had away from home. There was so much meat & veg. A MUST visit for a Sunday. The garlic mushroom starter was fantastic too!

Have visited this pub on many occasions, this time I had lunch with 'Ladies who lunch'. We all had dishes from the five pound menu which were cooked to order and served piping hot. Nice to see hand cut chips instead of frozen. There is a great choice on both the special and daily menu. The service was good and the staff are friendly. Will certainly return. Would recommend for a casual lunch.

Called here on our way home from shopping. Children’s meals were fine but you can’t get chicken nuggets and chips wrong. I had fajitas, just a packet mix that was very dry. My husband had pasta with prawns that wasn’t very nice, this was served with a bread cake cut in half. Not the best or cheapest either. The menu is limited to start with but my first 2 choices were unavailable! We will not be returning.

I have got to admit, we live very local to The Queens Arms, which is very close to the Wakefield City Center and also very close to lots of other local bars and eateries. We always end up back in here. The food it top notch as the chef is amazing! Everything is home made (which possibly can be) and the quality is ALWAYS exceptional. My partner can not get enough of the home made scotch eggs, tartar sauce and the Sunday Lunches. My favourites are the lasagna and pies. WOW! The beers and lagers are always in perfect condition as the landlady is truly passionate about what she does. She is a truly bonkers character which totally livens up the whole area of Thornes! There are live bands and singers on a regular basis and a karaoke which I believe is every Saturday night. whether you're a local or a passer by definitely worth a look in. I'm not sure of the food times but I believe food is available Tuesdays - Sundays and definitely have a go folks.

Just been shopping at Asda. And was thinking were we could go for something to eat . I must be honest I had never heard of this place before. So glad we came the food quality is fabulous . Fresh veg and loads of it .This Is a little gem . We nearly turn around and walked out there was only 8 in the pub . So glad we didn't. Definitely call in again when we are this way .

3 Sunday lunches...all had different and all enjoyed them. Really good quality home cooked food and very resonable prices. Service was great too. Well worth a visit.

For the quality of food this pub deserves more custom than it has. Only eaten a few times but everything I have had has been home made and delicious; unfortunately the pub has always been very quiet. Such a shame when you can get quality food at a reasonable price. Staff have always been very friendly too.

Called in yesterday. Excellent atmosphere, food smelt amazing! Will have to call in to sample it soon. One of my friends had a dog with them and that was no issue as we called in advance and were told that they were dog friendly.

My sister and I went for lunch today and we were not disappointed. The food was lovely and was home cooked which is very rare these days. We were made very welcome and the lady behind the bar couldn't do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly be back and as we do ladies at lunch once a month with our friends it will definitely be at the top our list to visit. Many thanks to the lady that did the cooking she certainly knows what she's doing.

had lunch today the home made cooking was excellent well done and the price is so reasonable. I was informed by the landlady that the lady chef makes all her own food even down to the pate.

We were made very welcome with the door opened for us to help get one wheelchair in and showed to a table suitable for a wheelchair the meals were of a very high standard for pub meal and I have no problem recommending this place to anyone in the area

My friend and I called in on the 16 /10/2016 for lunch, we were given a warm friendly welcome , lovely staff, The food was excellent all fresh , and as I don't have a huge appetite was offered the half lunch, a tasty Sunday lunch with a choice of deserts, would defiantly recommend this pub why people go to plastic food pubs I'll never know , Try it

Again we have new landlord/lady however........this time the food is to die for....everything freshly prepared....and yes. . Homemade chips. Great friendly staff...interior remains pretty nuch the same but this is not a bad thing.....it is cozy and plenty of space if its a weekend to fetch the children. The beer garden is very spacious......lots of seating area with a lovely view of the thornes park. Heres to hoping the newbies stay!!

We visited one Saturday afternoon and received a warm welcome. There was a pleasant atmosphere among the locals at the bar and we were served good food and ale.

My wife and myself were at a fair in the nearby park, I went for a walk and ended up at the Queens, to say the pub is dog friendly would be an under-statement, The barman, Christian, and the landlady, Francesca, were really friendly and helpful. It was a delightful visit and would recommend this pub, p.s. and the dog enjoyed herself as well!
