This is my go to Restaurant in the Dales , the restaurant is decorated lovely , the ambiance is superb . We took out two dogs in the bar and they were made a fuss of by the waiting staff , We had the lunch menu , I had the Ox Cheek and it was the best meal of the holiday . Will always come back to this restaurant whenever we come back to the dales

The pub itself is cosy and welcoming and the staff we all very nice . I wouldn’t hesitate to pop back for a nice pint as they have a good selection We went out to the back room to dine , it was a bit soulless, but was dog friendly so did the job. Both myself and wife ordered the small fish and chips , both turned up hot and fresh but the presentation did remind me a bit off school dinners , whilst my fish was ok my wife’s was all batter and no fish , wasn’t great in all But it is cheap and cheerful and I would imagine that they were better options on the menu that I would have enjoyed more .

A return trip to this lovely atmospheric inn. However we were so disappointed with the ‘Sunday Lunch’. The beef was so much gristle and fat much of it inedible. Roast potatoes were warmed up and the mash was cool. We had asked for specific vegetables to be served separately but they weren’t. When we complained were told our comments would be passed on The “reason” for the beef being so bad was it had changed from rump to sirloin. If that’s the case don’t ever order a sirloin steak! We were all so disappointed after visiting previously this was to have been a high spot of our weekend trip Our uneaten inedible food should have told the chefs they need to step their game up or lose more customers.

Visited the Black Bull a couple of times for evening meals during our recent holiday to Reeth. Both meals were very good, served prompt and the staff were very friendly. Both fires were lit making it a very cosy feel. Had a mulled cider on one occasion which was very tasty and warming after a long walk. Would definitely visit again when in the area.

Decided to go here having missed out on lunch earlier and it was very nearly closing time. The food and drinks were were great, the owners/staff were friendly and welcoming and it’s a fabulous setting, especially at the outside tables. Good value too
