The pub itself is cosy and welcoming and the staff we all very nice . I wouldn’t hesitate to pop back for a nice pint as they have a good selection We went out to the back room to dine , it was a bit soulless, but was dog friendly so did the job. Both myself and wife ordered the small fish and chips , both turned up hot and fresh but the presentation did remind me a bit off school dinners , whilst my fish was ok my wife’s was all batter and no fish , wasn’t great in all But it is cheap and cheerful and I would imagine that they were better options on the menu that I would have enjoyed more .

Just visited over the weekend while in town so can’t comment on accommodation. Called in for evening food and drinks. Good quality piping hot evening meals served quickly with fresh ingredients and proper salad No spiky nettles and twigs!! . Good selection of food with specials board and proper size portions. Good selection of drinks. Returned Sunday morning for breakfast and once again was not disappointed. Plenty to eat and no shortage of tea from a large teapot with extra water. First class

Our first contact with anyone at The Buck was with Scott at The Bar and he was very welcoming. Made us feel instantly at home (from home) Our room was lovely and spacious and after our long day walking the Coast to Coast we loved the bath which was waiting for us upstairs. Dinner was really delicious. We both had the Beef Chilli (mine with rice and partner had chips) Surprise Surprise….next day, Scott was serving breakfast too. I do hope he went home last night!! ;) He was totally friendly, always smiling and was only too happy to make sure we had everything we needed at breakfast …. delicious and fresh. We’d definitely come back here.

We had a lovely stay at The Buck. Our room was perfect: spotlessly clean with a wonderful view of the village green, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. We started most days with the Big Buck Breakfast which set us up nicely before our daily hike. But if that’s not your thing there’s plenty more to choose from on the menu - even sausage and black pudding for Bert (our dog). The staff were fun, warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The pub is a traditional Yorkshire pub with an open fire and a fine selection of beers and spirits. During our stay there was a darts and dominos event where we witnessed friendly rivalry with a pub team from a different Dale. This just added to the atmosphere and we really enjoyed the evening. We would definitely recommend The Buck and will be returning next year.

We stayed here for a night, also eating here. The common areas may be a bit worn, but the rooms have been updated and a very clean. The bathrooms are very updated and exceptionally clean. Excellent mattress, two pillows, moderately sized room. We were very pleased with lodging here. We ate at the restaurant here and were pleasantly surprised, much higher quality than "pub food." I had a rabbit stew with a large Yorkshire, while others ate fish and chips, lasagne and hamburger. The breakfast was very good. The employees were professional, cheerful and friendly. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We recently stayed nearby and ate at The Buck daily during our trip. The food, service and team were absolutely fantastic. Every meal we had was excellent. The only slight disappointment I had was that the chips didn’t seem home made anymore but the alternative was still just as good :) Cod and chips was Divine!!!

bed and breakfast stay. We spent 4 nights at the Buck and had a very comfortable, happy time. Our Room had been newly decorated and had a brand new huge bathroom - everything very clean and ordered - a comfortable 4-poster bed with cool white sheets and duvet. We had the perfect view over Reeth Green - and everything quiet and relaxing. The new owner/tenants were hardworking and very welcoming ( Sean in particular took the time to chat to me at breakfast). Breakfasts excellent - all cooked as requested, Supper - trad pub food - lots of it and not fancy but good value and perfect for the Dales. We'd happily stay again. The decor needs a bit of an uplift in other parts of the pub (the brewery should heed) but not our room certainly and all was totally acceptable. A great place for walkers, cyclists and leisure tourists. The only addition I would have ( and I said this to Sean) is that the beer garden -see the photo - is fabulous - and not used or sold enough - we had been to Reeth many times and had no idea it existed - better PR needed!!!

It's an attractive, historical building, nicely decorated and with character and two large bars. The food is fine, good pub grub. A choice of real ale on. All the basics needed for a good pub. The evening I was there both bars had TVs showing football, one with the volume so loud it drowned out the music playing. The bar staff asked ua all in our bar if they wanted the TV on. The majority said no, please turn it off. Sadly the bar staff went with one customer who wanted football on. I left once I'd finished my food and drink - I'm really glad not to staying at the pub - it was really loud. Come on owners, have some imagination. This is a big enough pub to cater for different choices in a pub. We don't all like sport! And if you ask customers what they want, please respond to the significant majority!

We popped into The Buck as a couple when passing through Reeth, which is absolutely gorgeous. Before visiting I checked TA to see which pub would be best for food and service. Well, although this place seems to be the least best pub to be visited according to a quick look on TA, if you do some proper research, you will soon see that there are some reviews that appear to be untrue. I say that as our experience was nothing like some that said negative things. Why anyone would do this to a local business in this day and age I’ll never know. I will try and post some photos, but we chose here as we love to support local business and thought we would form our own valid opinion, plus wanted to see if previous negative reviews were true. Then I could write a genuine review and people would take note as my history shows I am genuine, unlike some who have only posted once or a few times. For clarity, we have no connections to The Buck at all and live 65 miles away. Our overall view is, visit The Buck, because we received a warm friendly welcome from the 2 males behind the bar. It is a proper decent pub and we seated ourselves then chose our food. It is a proper relaxed pub, with proper pub food that is very reasonably priced. The beer garden is exceptional as it’s huge, has stunning views, so we will be back when it’s sunny.

We have been to the Buck twice in the last week with different members of the family who had travelled a distance. The first time on a Sunday we waited 1hour 10 minutes to receive our meal. When the meal finally arrived the Sunday dinners were good but the wait was terrible and we were not served in turn. The three chidren were fed up and starving and had a late 2 hour journey home afterwards. In the past we have enjoyed meals at the Buck so on Saturday, with different visitors, we tried again having been promised the service would be better. The drinks were served quickly but that was it. The menu was entirely pizzas with some starters and a childrens menu. One of our party is vegetarian and there was only a starter suitable for her. After an HOUR we finally got the in adequate food, despite promises that it would be quick. Perhaps they were trying to be kind saying that they could accommodate us but they should have said they were not serving meals because of staff shortages (1 chef only). All our party had to eat extra food when we got home. We will not be back until we are reliably informed that the place has improved a great deal. Very, very disappointing.

This was our first visit on Sunday to the Buck since it was reopened. We thought we'd try the Sunday lunch and how pleasantly surprised we were with the quality. We'd always liked the buck and it's homely tasty menu coupled with the cosy atmosphere in the bar by the open fire. But they have now taken the food to another level. It was superb, great choices and quality. It puts The Buck up there with the other quality local Sunday lunch venue's. It may be a little more expensive but it's worth it!!

We live 2 minutes walk from the Buck, and have watched skips filling up over the past couple of months so it was with some trepidation we decided to have a lunchtime refresher alter the weekly market. Inside it was much the same but had had a general freshing up. The young staff were welcoming and friendly but Covid regulations reassuringly seriously. The beer was fresh and bright and we were told it had been re-piped. The offerings were Landlord, Blacksheep, Wainwright, Old Perculiar and a red Shepherd Neame- something for everyone. The light bite menu looked tempting as did their own range of speciality coffee. The black board menu had pub favourites, but the main menu bead definitely Italian, plus a Sunday lunch menu all again tempting but perhaps a bit pricey for some people but reflect the cost of running a pub in the Dales. However if the quality is good they could be good value and we intend to give them a try soon.

Popped in on A Sunday night in March and expected one man and his dog. Was quite busy with a bunch of people having a pool tournament. Nice atmosphere. Traditional Yorkshire Inn feel in the front room. Bar, coal fire etc. Had black sheep ale and was a perfect pint. They do the usual hearty Inn menu but also a separate pizza and kebab menu so popped back for tea the next day to eat a home made pizza and cheesy home made chips. Spot on! Also a bonus for being dog friendly and a regular having a friendly dog to meet visitors!

We booked table for dinner weeks before our arrival and specifically asked to be seated in the dining room, but when we got there, we shown to a table in the bar as the dining room was fully booked. That was a disappointing start to the evening.Service was slow and the atmosphere was not welcoming. The food, when it arrived was not inspiring and my pasta dish, which, although tasty enough, was swimming in so much oil that I had to leave half of it.I know there had been flooding in the area so it was not surprising that the place was not 100%, but there is no excuse for dirty, sticky tables and poor service. It’s a real shame because we have eaten there many times in the past, however, based on this experience, we are unlikely to return in a hurry.

We are regular visitors to the area, having use of a holiday home near Leyburn, and the pubs in the area are amongst the best in the land. Unfortunately, this place was way off the mark. Called in at lunch time for a pint and a half of real ale before heading out on our walk. Over £7 for the round seemed expensive but hey ho. Decent pint if I’m honest. No issues there. Young lad behind the bar far from engaging with a couple ahead of me who tried to engage him in conversation, but again thought no more of it. 11 miles and a few hours later, returned to the bar ravenous, having seen the lamb shank on the menu which we both fancied. Managed to find a table inside and although far from busy, that and a number of other tables were filthy. Mrs B was driving so off to the bar to be served by the same young bar man. Attitude was far from friendly, and had to really bite my tongue to not tell him to cancel the drinks order. Back to the table. Young waitress, far from busy, walked past a number of times and looked at the mess on the table (ketchup wrappers, dirty cutlery and pizza cutter and dirty surface). After 15 minutes with no sign of the table being cleaned, walked out. Would have happily spent a good £70 by my reckoning, but your staff are letting you down in the attitude stakes. There are far better pub options in the area where you don’t feel like an inconvenience to the young staff.

We come here often and have never had a bad meal or bad service. The portions are generous, food is always hot and tastes absolutely gorgeous. The takeaway pizzas are amazing as well, as are the kebabs. Definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area!!

This place came recommended when we rented via Airbnb. The food was lovely, chips good, pie very good and staff nice. Nice big open fire, and toilets were clean. Would recommend!

We had dinner here 2 nights during our week long stay – first night it was lamb meatballs in a very rich tomato sauce for me – very tasty with a kick of spice - my wife fish + scampi with chips – again well-cooked and hot to the table – the second time was early evening on New year’s Eve – I went for the bolognese pizza with a cheddar cheese topping – unfortunately it had a soggy bottom - however the topping together with the crispy edges made for a tasty meal – my wife had the pork loin which was very good….

We stayed in reeth for the weekend and ate here on both nights. First the beer was excellent and the food was also excellent. The pub was warm and welcoming with a lovely fire which was needed with the freezing conditions outside. Would definitely recommend.

We visited the Buck Hotel last weekend for two nights . We wanted a relaxing weekend in the Yorkshire Dales and we were not disappointed. A very friendly place with great staff , good food , a clean and spacious room and the best roaring fire . We will return.

Ate here on Bonfire Night and watched the excellent fireworks whilst sitting outside after which we had a meal inside the hotel. The food was very good, different beers were on tap and the service was friendly and attentive. There is also a wide menu choice although vegetarian options are limited. Overall am pleased to recommend and as frequent visitors to the area we will undoubtedly be back.

Called in to Reeth with my wife and granddaughter for something to eat after a day in Richmond and wasn't too taken by the competition and plumped for The Buck instead and we weren't disappointed.

We ate at the Buck while staying in Reeth for a few days. It’s a great pub with good food, a lovely open fire and friendly staff and locals. I had a nicely cooked steak, my wife had lamb shank, the kids had lasange and sausage and mash. The food was great and there was a good selection of local beers. We’d go back if in Reeth again and recommend it highly.

First time at the pub for dinner and there was the best lamb shank dinner on the menu. Ate here a couple of times during the week plus went to the pub for a glass of wine. The landlady and landlord were exceptionally attentive as were their staff. Thank you for a great time.

The fish duo was excellent. A large portion of fish in batter along with breaded scampi with chips and mushy peas. All well cooked and very tasty.

Called in for a quick drink on a Friday, early evening. The Buck was very busy with lots of people eating from the varied menu. Service was quick and efficient and friendly.

Turned up ad hoc for a meal and were made very welcome. Lovely roast dinner and veg. Great atmosphere and sensible pub-grub menu: just the ticket!

We visited here after reading some encouraging reviews and noting that “booking is essential for food”, we thought it would be a safe bet while we were in the area. Unfortunately, the 2 stars are for service along as the bar staff were very polite and helpful. They are also dog friendly which is a bonus. Other than that, the food was not impressive. We had the Sunday roast and the beef tasted of poor quality, and vegetables were not seasoned and lacked flavour. The cabbage served with the meal was pickled which wasn’t what we expected. We were still hungry afterwards but didn’t want to waste any more money on desert in case it was more of the same. The decor is very tired and the place does lack atmosphere unfortunately. We didn’t drink alcohol but they have a wide variety of ales to choose from behind the bar. We won’t be returning, sadly!

Just been for Sunday lunch with my family and was delicious. I rang to book an hour before and they fitted us in no problem . Lunch didn't take very long to come and staff were so friendly. Definitely recommend. Look forward to coming back. Thankyou Nicola xx

Could not recommend enough! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. They make sure to go above and beyond for customers, making sure you have everything you need. Decor is absolutely fabulous and not to forget they grow their own fresh ingredients, you don’t get a better experience than that. Food is 10/10 so flavourful, definitely will be returning.
