The best restaurants in Kirklees Yorkshire and The Humber

Down visiting our son and his family we ordered a takeaway from Grameen Lounge and I can say without hesitation it is the finest Bangladeshi food I have ever eaten, everything written on the menu you could taste the lamb was melt in the mouth. Next time we are down we will be back. Superb in fact I’m tempted to drive down from Newcastle to get one today 😁

This is a great find! Open until 3pm. We had toasties and tea. Toasties were incredible and well filled. Tea was perfect (wide range available) and the baked goods looked divine! The place has lots of original features as well and wonderful old photos of the local area.

We ordered full meal Saturday 5th April . Collected and walked home . Soon as we were home realised it was missing 2 items we’d paid for. Call Spice they promised to deliver them . Never arrived The meal was the worse curry ever purchased, stewed wet and flavourless . We reached out to Spice they weren’t interested

Breakfast visit and excellent fluffy pancakes. A slight mixup with our booking, think it was a glitch in the system but sorted quickly and friendly. One small point, three lovely and fluffy pancakes with berries but not enough yogurt, ate the last one dry, at the cost a bit more yogurt wouldn’t break the bank.

Having not long moved back to the village we used the Grove as a starting point when we were meeting friends. The place appeared very run down and is in need of serious renovation. The other customers looked in need of renovation too Our friends could not park, we were told the car park is for management and people staying. In a village where other establishments are making a real effort the Grove is letting the side down

Booked for my friend who came up to see me and my partner. Location is a little far from Huddersfield town to walk but it’s only a 6/7 mins drive to the town. We played a game of golf and it was very entertaining and was only £10 for the 3 of us. The food is nice and we had some live music outside whilst eating. The room was very clean, and it looked like we had got an upgrade by having a double bed! Will be booking again for the great and affordable price for 3 nights 4 days of just over £100!!!

The best place with the best people! Me and my partner Zac often frequent this restaurant, the food is phenomenal, the staff are amazing. I use to order take out when I lived in Huddersfield and it was sooo good, when I told my partner about it and we decided to go as we usually go out once a week for date night He literally fell in love with the place and we often joke that he loves chilli lounge more than me haha They have lots of different options which my partner loves to try (he gets something different every time we go) and he says he’s never had a bad dish. (This restaurants has won awards in the past) The staff are very patient with Zac as he takes a little while to order and asks lots of questions, they always accommodate his requests as he often asks to mix dishes and try new things that isn’t on the menu Food is honestly amazing that we no longer go to any other curry house but this one! Portion size is great and we often take home left overs (Great prices too) The staff are honestly amazing, they truly deserve all their customers. They take their time talking to you and getting to know you even if they’re busy, they make us feel so welcome every time we go, we recently had a baby who cries a lot and they often come over and help me as a new mum. I don’t feel anxious or nervous about him crying because they honestly just want to make sure we are happy and okay. I can honestly say they are a genuine family running a spotless restaurant with a passion for their food and customers, they are really good people to the point where I believe if I walked in and said me and my baby are hungry and have no money they would still sit us down and look after us, so if you are unsure about going just go it’s a good experience every time and you won’t regret it!

Frustratingly inconsistent! Let's start with the good, Hamburger is great, proper smashed beef, great bun, a happy high standard of smash burger in line with other "smash" burgers around, this won't disappoint. This is a 4/4.2 out of 5 smash burger. Chicken wings Are ok, a bit crunchy but nothing special, better than bad places around Huddersfield, but not in any level to shout about. 3/5 Chicken burger What an absolute let down, couldn't finish it, basic frozen "modern" chicken burger, it's the same level as swimming pool restaurant food. Such a shame and so inconsistent compared to the beef burger, low basic seeded cheap bun, cheap chicken burger, just so plain and a waste of food, why serve such tripe when you're bun n bite burger specialists. Expect the same quality as the £4 chicken burger fries and drink deal type of burger. It's a 2/5 and I'm heavily unimpressed. Donner meat Again, actually quite surprising, this donner was tasteful, better than most around Huddersfield, I would have this again and probably go out my way for this donner, 4/5 Chips Standard, nothing special, most went in the bin, not like skin on fries or anything special just the basic bottom line chips. Overall, for the meal deal cost in general, there's more competitive and better quality at lower or equal prices, I'd rather order from those than the box deals here, which is disappointing as the restaurant reviews hold it in high stead but it isn't, it's got great smash but the rest is poor cheap basic quality and NO DRINK! There are various others at way more competitive offers. It would be good to see a change in chips, skin on fries, chicken burger needs complete overhaul and perhaps then would be in the 4* category. See some of my other reviews for examples of high quality places. Edit in response: Woah lads, calm down it's some constructive feedback, read the whole review, I did order the box meals, smash deluxe is good, could be better, the chicken burger is a massive let down and I think you know you can do better.

Absolutely awful, Ordered a few sides, came out luke warm very small portion sizes, when called the server, he wasn't too happy said he only got two hands to take the food back!! Which I found quite rude!! Quite Disappointed over all experience, Not even asked after if the everything was OK after the fact. Cocktails were good wanted to stay for more but we left after one because of the service. Won't be coming back

Booked a meal for my girlfriends 27th and couldnt fault it at all. The food was stunning, well presented and was extremly tastefull (high regards and compliments to the chef) , the atmosphere was so positive, bright and the pianist was a very nice professional touch and all the waiting team were amazing, catered to our ever need and interacted with the kids perfectly. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.
