Lovely spot. Intimate, friendly and very nice food.

This was the best curry I’ve had in years. Absolutely outstanding. I had an incredibly delicious Prawn dish and aloo gobi and extras. The food was delicious, the staff were very cheery, warm and kind and the entire atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Everybody seemed happy - staff and customers alike.

An honest review. I’ve been to many a curry house in my time, but this place, WOW! The food is incredible, tasty, has depth of flavour and spice. Just unbelievable. Service - BYOB, saves a fortune on the drinks bill but more than welcomed. Staff asked us if we wanted a bottle opener etc. they all knew the menu too, lovely lovely people. Atmosphere - big enough to have one, small enough to feel intimate, either way, staff know the menu, make you feel extremely welcome and the food is TIP TOP. I’ll even go as far to say it’s the best curry I’ve had for the price paid. Thank you Grameen Lounge, we will 100% be back.

Extortionate prices for dreadful sloppy food. They can’t even be bothered to dice the onions. Their other franchise,Spice Garden, was on another level. We wouldn’t return to Grameen Lounge if you paid us.

Absolutely spot on. Reasonable portions at reasonable prices. Each dish had its own unique flavour unlike most places ive tried (tried a lot) Thoroughly enjoyed each one. The vegetarian options were plentiful and the three we chose were brilliant. Meat biryani was also very nice and the sauce could have been a dish on its own. You can tell they put thought and quality ingredients into their food. Thanks guys

My partner and I have made it our mission to visit all the Indian restaurants in Huddersfield, Grameen Lounge is one of the few we have left to visit due to it’s location! Despite being the only ones dining at 9pm on a Thursday, we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant has nice decor, the chef’s special salsa-like dip in Pickle Tray is 10/10 and the Garlic Naans were very fresh & buttery, akin to a garlic pizza from an Italian. Staff were friendly and helpful. I actually mis-ordered something I believed to be a curry and the owner/manager asked me if I was aware and got the chef to alter my meal mid-cook… can’t really ask for more! Food was good quality and we enjoyed it all, plus the Coca-Cola was legit and not rolacola like many of the other places we’ve visited! Only negatives were that you could hear a blender in the kitchen (over the music) due to the lack of other patrons and there’s a tiny note on the door that says cash only, however it’s across from an ATM so no real issue. None of these would stop us from visiting again! Food was £40 for 2 of us to have papadums, pickle tray, 2 chicken curries, 2 drinks, 2 naans and rice. All in all, value for money and tasted great

This is now bring your own booze and cash only (temporarily apparently!?). It's been redecorated and more seating is available. Still good food, a good choice and friendly and helpful staff, but they need to put a clearer sign on the door to warn you about the cash which fewer and fewer people carry around with them these days.

A very nice place with good food and friendly service. Does not serve alcohol, but they let you bring your own.

Lovely food for my partners birthday. Generous portions. It's now unlicensed! So take your own drinks ( or run to Tesco over the road like we did!) Kindly gave him a bottle of wine when we left as it was his birthday.

It's moved next to or part of the shepherds arms in cowersley, you can get drinks from the pub and walk through. Been twice in, first as a couple, then a group of 8. Everyone enjoyed a good meal and not much of wait. Book ahead if there's lots of you or drink in the pub, which is also very pleasant. Prices good too..

Wrong order! Food was tasty but they didn't send all my items despite me paying for it. I tried to contact the place but was ignored. Would suggest you don't use the place.

Take away order was wrong. Ordered a garlic Nan and they sent rice and no Nan. Restaurant food curries too similar. Butter chicken and chicken tikka makhani should have been very different but were identical in colour and textures just one was sweeter. Not a fan :(

Absolutely dreadful food poisoning after a takeaway from here. Been ill for 4 days🤮 had to go to the doctors and had time off work. Not impressed

Absolutely megarific (if that's a word?) ! Beautifully spiced and full of flavour and good quality ingredients. Great services as well. This is my local curry restaurant/takeaway and honest I never have any need to go any further. Probably the best in town. It's smaller than a lot in the area but the quality is spot on.

Excellent food and plenty of it, reasonable priced. No alcohol served, but not a problem, Tesco Express opposite, you can bring in your own alcohol. Only negative was that take away orders seemed to get priority.

First time eating here. Food was really good, we ordered very spicy dishes and we're not disappointed. The restaurant has no alcohol license but Tesco is just across the road for BYOB. Bring cash as no C Card accepted 😞

Small (so advisable to book) and different. Interesting menu items and what I chose was delicious. Staff were generous, friendly, attentive. Can’t think of anything that was not to like. Full marks!

Went for dinner early . Just one couple there, so service was not bad as we got our pompadoms quickly. But it filled up soon so the regular patrons seemed to be happy with service It's bring your own alcohol policy nowadays, The mains webprderd were quickly served and we enjoyed the chicken peri peri and biryani. So give the a try!!

This is a hidden gem 💎 Really good offer on a Wednesday and Sunday, but the prices are very reasonable without the offer. The food was delicious 😋 not too spicy, and the flavours were spot on! I would highly recommend it!! Lovely staff, too! I will be back :)

Probably one of the best Indian restaurants in Huddersfield as well as my home town of Halifax. I have not tasted any Panneer that's as good as Grameen Lounge (home made in the kitchen). It tastes delicious.. You will not be disappointed if you go. Service is exceptional. Keep up the good work...😊👍

Been visiting here for years and have a takeaway pretty much every week. Used to get a takeaway from another local restaurant ( who didn't think it mattered if the food was delivered on time, late or never).Grameen on the other hand....they have standards!! Consistently good food, always deliver on time or early. Staff and drivers always polite. Would definitely recommend.

Have been going here for a couple of years with my partner eaten in the restaurant and had deliveries. The food has been consistently superb and they clearly use good fresh ingredients as you can taste the difference. Staff and service are always friendly and keen to help. Just had a delivery again. Great food, on time and hot. Probably been here and ordered 40+ times in two years…always been great. Prices decent too. Amazed it’s not busier

Visited here on a very wet and windy Wednesday night after being recommended by staff at the nearby Cedars Court Hotel. Hadn’t booked, but the waiters managed to get us a table despite being exceptionally busy due to other guest at the hotel having the same idea. Great pickle tray to begin with followed by some very tasty curries and side dishes washed down with Kingfisher lager. Although busy, we were well looked after and the price for the three of us was very reasonable.

The biggest compliment I can give to Grameen is that you could try ANYTHING on the menu and it is always amazing. The specials and new dishes are consistently fantastic. All the starters are amazing too. The meal deal they offer twice a week is obscene value. All of their staff are very helpful and always friendly. By far the best curry house in Yorkshire hands down.

Went for a meal with Family. Really enjoyed the food. Limited choice for my son but that's his fault not the restaurants .

Service was good, very happy and accommodating. Took some photos for us. Food was a bit hit and miss. Pickle tray was lovely. The korma and masala were quite sweet and the chicken nuggets were over fried. I had a Persian special with chick pea and spinach which was very nice but certainly not mild. Breads were good. Not sure we'd go back again in a hurry.

Came here on a wet Aug evening with work colleague. We both enjoyed our choices and the portions where a good size. Only accepted cash as card machine was out of order. But had a sign up and told us before we were seated so not a problem friendly service and would visit again if in area

I am a picky person yet every thing I order here is fantastic. I have no idea why it’s not rammed constantly it’s incredible and lovely people who run it. Young girl served us tonight was fantastic too, really attentive and polite.

First time ordered today (most likely last as well) via Uber delivery after seeing good review score. Probably the chef was on leave today. Ordered three items. 1. Lucknow lamb chops. Looked good but it was hard and very chewy either poor marination or cooked on too high heat if so not an option for door delivery. Went to bin. 2. Old Delhi curry. Curry base was ok taste but the chicken was tasteless even though they seemed to have used marinated chicken. 3. Mixed platter for 2 starter. Lamb tikka was good but both chicken and seekh kebab was not. It was very new for me to see ketchup on both chops and meat. May be a place for someone who wants to have asian food but with more European fusion.

I don’t normally leave reviews for food. But I had to for this one! It’s probably the best take away curry that I’ve had in Huddersfield. Not oily, really nice flavour and just the right amount! The nan bread was super too. I would highly recommend.

We placed an order on deliveroo and we did wait for more than 3 hours for the order, tried contacting the restaurant number of times but they were not picking the phone call , our order did not arrive instead in deliveroo app it was showing as order delivered at 2200 hours and we did not get a refund as well .... Very poor service

My local curry house and what a damn fine 1 it is. The usual traditional curries plus plenty of speciality curries. Warm welcome friendly staff. Will definitely be going again

Had a takeaway and the ordering system charged us a gratuity. This was very cheeky and we have not used them since. Its a pity as the food was good but the gratuity makes it expensive.

This place refused my order online without any explanation. Totally not acceptable. So on principal I won't be ordering from here again. It was first order aswell, so that doesn't create a very good impression

Came here as in a hotel just around the corner for a meeting. Had a deal on; poppadoms, starter, main and side for £14.95! Food was great, large portions and very friendly service. Will definitely be back when in the area.

First time ordering from here, delivery was within 30 mins and the food was one of the best takeaway curry's I've ever had. Sometimes when you order delivery from a restaurant the quality can suffer, that isn't the case here, top marks!

We used to visit regularly and the service was great. We just placed an order and the service was very poor and they were very rude. What a shame

One of the best curry houses in the area. Lovely staff, who will help you decide which dish you like. They explain all the ingredients in each dish, and will make the curry to your liking.

Great food and friendly staff, however the service needs improving. We had to wait 15 minutes for a table setting having booked in for a set time. Waited an hour and 20 minutes for starters and main course took a while. Was advised cash only on arrival and not when booking so had to go to a cash machine. One set of cuttlery provided for all courses. Improve the service and this would be a good restaurant.

I strongly feel I have to write this review...on Tuesday 29th of November I ordered two curries for delivery...they arrived and when I began to consume them was shocked at the texture for one of the curries and the complete lack of taste and absolutely no taste of any curry or spices....in fact I struggled to identify it as a curry.....then next day myself and a friend who ate the other curry were violently poorly....this is tottaly unacceptable ..I'm very close to reporting this to the environment health or food standards. Don't underderestimate my anger....read some more reviews on here and a excuse the chef had a bad day or please contact us just simply isn't good enough.....they has been a serious breath of health standards here either in the ingredients or cooking standards.....I look forward to your reply but I will not accept and white wash apology

Great food. Been there already many times. Great service. Food is absolutely brilliant and prices not too bad. Definitely place to recommend. Not sure about parking as it is next to busy road and I've never been there by car. Go there and check the food. You will not regret that at all. Chicken Tikka Masala with Peshwari nan is incredible. Try it.

If your idea of a vegetable Jalfrezi is curried frozen carrots and green beans, then you are on to a winner. Alas it isn't mine, the only thing that stopped me asking for my money back was the fact I was on a night out with friends and didn't want to sour the atmosphere. Utterly appaling food for myself, my friends fared much better.

Awful food and rip off as pickle tray us not really a pickle tray for 2 50 then you have to buy your own popadons to go with it. Cold oil soaked bajis and pakoras. Really inconsistent ordered a few times and it's got worse and worse everything it's literally like they dont care what they send out so so sad.

Ordered takeaway , chicken tikka balti main and lamb tika starter. Starter didn’t come with salad and was 6 small messily pieces , one of grizzle . Main was okish but nothing special. A total of £12.95, left me feeling I could have got something much better at home or a massive kebab elsewhere .

With a bit of trepidation, given some negative reviews, we tried Grameen Lounge for a take-away to eat in our hotel room. It had been recommended by John, who had eaten there regularly. Gina was most helpful in understanding special diet restrictions of one of us having to eat no gluten, no dairy, little or no salt and mild taste. The onion bhajis were probably the best we have ever had. The cod beran parcels were yummy. However, the lamb samosas were too spicy hot, as was the complimentary vegetable sauce for the chicken and the lamb biryanis, which were otherwise excellent, with the chicken and lamb being both tender and delicious. We had waited about 20 minutes for our order to be cooked, observing how welcome every customer was made to feel. Living 3 hours away, we may never visit again but if we were in the area, we would definitely be back.

Went to this lovely little curry house again tonight. Staff are welcoming and really friendly. Had one of the new curry's on the menu and I personally was very impressed (best curry I have ever had). Prices are also reasonable will certainly be returning again soon.

Had a takeaway tonight. The vegetarian starters were excellent, but the main courses were inedible. We had chicken karai and lamb balti. The lamb was tough and chewy, but the main problem was the amount of salt in both dishes. All we could taste was salt. Both dishes went straight into the bin. Won't be returning.

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary here yesterday. The staff was exceptionally accomodating and very friendly. The food was first class, thank you to you all, that made our day special, we will back again soon.

The 4 in our family decided to eat out Christmas Dinner, and chose our favourite Asian food ever - Grameen Lounge. We have eaten there many many times and lots of takeaways, and my goodness we are glad we chose to eat here on Christmas Day. The food, table after a bit of a mix up was amazing, and the service second to none. The generosity of the staff was faultless, freebies all the way!! Thankyou Grameen for always being amazing ❤️❤️

Avoid avoid avoid Worst curry ever had. Anyone who likes this place doesn't know curries Watery curry, thin naan, no salad or sauce and hardly any meat. Horrible waste of money 20 odd pound on 2 curries, rice n naan n went in the bin

I popped in to the Grameen Lounge on the way home. I wasn't disappointed. The food was very tasty.

Some friends recommended this restaurant, saying it was the best curry they had ever had. So we had to try it and went with the friends, another couple, who had recorded it. We were all given a good welcome and the staff were knowledgeable and being Gluten free, I did not feel like I was missing out. We were not disappointed and can see this being a regular spot to eat.

Visited last night for my sons birthday, food and service were both fantastic. They went above and beyond for us. We will be visiting again 100 %. Thank you for a great evening.
