Velvet Lounge in Kirklees

The food is up to great standards and very tasty my only problem was that you have a choice of Asian Style or Mild with your chicken tikka masala and I don’t want mega spicy so chose mild but my word it was so creamy & sickly it looked like carrot soup nothing close to tikka masala tikka masala is supposed to be red please rethink your options maybe Asian style - Spicy Asian Style - mild and a third option of mild&creamy if people like it that way but it was sickly sweet for me ✌🏼

Amazing, quality food at a good price

shami kebab starters were lukewarm BUT salad and mint sauce with starters was missing. rang restaurant and obviously not interested in delivery side of business as I was told missing items would be sent tomorrow!? or with next order!? when I said this wasn't right I was told it would be sorted with driver. waited 1 hour and heard nothing. by this time all food had to be reheated and so £20+ meal was basically spoilt. threw shami kebabs away because after putting in microwave they were tasteless.

We came for a meal here, we didn’t have a booking but the restaurant was empty so my partner asked if we was ok to have a table which we was told we could but they were going to close. We sat and ordered our food, while we sat waiting the staff were coughing loudly and laughing in the kitchen, to the point I personally didn’t want to eat the food anymore because I felt sick 🤢 My partner tried the food but after all the coughing he decided to leave it. We paid and I asked the man at the bar if someone in the kitchen was ill? He said no it’s spices, I personally think he was embarrassed as he had heard it too. We would never go here again and would not recommend anyone else to eat here either !

Had really good reports about the Velvet lounge so my expectations were high. We arrived about 7.30 on Wednesday evening and ordered. The poppadoms were ok but not 'just cooked', which I always think is a good sign. Onion bhaji were overdone and very dry and hard, the meat samosa was mainly potatoe and had the look and feel of something purchased from a freezer shop. The curry itself tasted ok but the chicken wasn't prime breast meat as it should be, lots of pieces were rubbery and I thought it might be chicken thigh. Additionally the service was polite but very slow, our main course arrived at the table just over an hour after we'd sat down initially & the restaurant wasn't busy, there were only a handful of other diners. I'm not sure what happened on this occasion, many of my curry loving friends had said how good it was here but tonight it was not good - hopefully a one off, maybe the chef was off work or something, won't be rushing back though.

King prawn Agni is my favourite, never disappoints The chefs are amazing Tried a cosmopolitan cocktail it was absolutely gorgeous. Great staff always attentive making sure you are looked after ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Food was ok. Service was very poor when follow up drinks were ordered but not received Upon arriving at the restaurant the waiter told us not to add our car details for parking and now l have received a £100 penalty. Very expensive dinner. The staff give wrong information.

Great choice on menu and especially for me as lm a vegetarian. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Gave a 4 for the food as on my plates , both my starters and mains had the oil pool. The car park is quite small too and bear in mind that the meals costs like £3 more than your average Indian restaurant.

Must try will be back again with family and friends

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Amazing service from all of the team. Food is outstanding, fresh ingredients with the biggest, juiciest prawns ever and beautiful white fish. Naan bread is the best. Velvet lounge was very busy with every table full when we visited on Saturday night at 8pm, that speaks for itself. There was a great vibe and everyone enjoying the food and ambiance. Best curry in Mirfield by far and licenced. Great value, you won’t be disappointed. We will be back.

Amazing food, friendly service, we arrived without a booking and they were really busy but we had a drink in the bar until a table was free. High quality food in a modern atmosphere.

Ordered take away on 4/12/23 and 10/12/23. Same meal Velvet Lounge Special, on requirements I requested that the meal be medium spiced. When I eat at the restaurant this is always perfect. However this evening this was too heavily spiced. Please read and act on the instructions.

Outstanding food. Cheeky Friday date night and decided to go to Velvet Lounge. The food and service were fabulous. Dynamite Prawns a real winner, as was the Chana Puri. Both mains were top drawer. Will definitely be back

The best food in the whole of West Yorkshire The starters, where do I start from, lamb chops, seeks kebabs and dynamite Prawns WOW THE BEST!!! Curries are 10 out of 10 The lads working there always make sure you have everything (alert all times)

Fish curries are great here - as are paneer, daal and vegetable dishes; I'm a big fan of the spinach, potato and daal curry. The staff are friendly and welcoming. A great place to eat.

The receipt says 11 the order says 11.15 luckily I came home 10 min early ! To be told the restaurant closes at 11 food was cold ! Which was a shame as it tasted good after warming it up in the oven ! Revitalising the naan and cooling down the salad 🥗!

After eating here 20+ times (Including takeout) its about time I wrote review. Subtle flavours, fresh food just wow. The veg rice is amazing, Chicken Karahi Palak - Oh My Days. Reasonably priced great service. What more can you ask for.

Great find, having arrived in Mirfield I needed somewhere within walking distance. This fitted the bill. I was made to feel at home right from the start by Riaz. Who was happy to make a couple of suggestions but they where what I was going to choose myself. The mixed kebab starter and Karahi palak. Would highly recommend the Velvet Lounge.

Ordered a takeaway which was absolutely beautiful. King prawn biryani was well seasoned and not too spicy. The king prawns were huge! Chicken korma was lovely. Onion bhajis great and peshwari naan very well done. Will be back!

I like that you don't need to reserve a table. The staff are really hospitable. Food is great.

I'll start with the positive which is where the one star comes from, the food was really nice. However I've never been anywhere with such poor service/customer service! I'm not the person to give negative reviews normally but tonight was different level, initially when walking into the restaurant the staff were loitering around the bar area being loud and intimidating enough to make my wife not feel comfortable enough to go and see what drinks were available. Second I went to the toilet and came back to find a waiter had moved my chair to accommodate a larger group of people, bearing in mind we were a table for 2 and the same waiter had seated us. Thirdly after our starters we had to go collect our cuttlery from another table to eat our mains. Fourth, when our food was brought out the waiter literally put his nose an inch away from our food to distinguish which meal was which. At no point through the meal were we asked how our food was/is everything ok and no exaggeration within 2 minutes of paying our bill the place was locked up and staff away for home. I'm not a complainer ever but did mention all the above when I went to settle the bill but literally got a sorry about that, just tap here with your card. Went here on the back of recommendation but will 100% never step foot in the place again..

Tikka massala was ok, chicken was not great. Rice was nice, naan bread was nice.

Stunning food, with friendly staff. Very reasonably priced and attentive service. Had a masala fish for starter and king prawn agni for main. I'll certainly visit again if I'm in the area and would highly recommend a visit. They seem to be popular for takeaway as well.

We tried the Velvet Lounge for the first time recently and really enjoyed it. The parking lets it down a bit. but it's quite small inside so it doesn't have to be enormous. The poppadoms & pickle tray were excellent , our starters and mains were delicious. The staff were very friendly but they brought the starters before we had finished the poppadoms and brought the mains the very second we had finished the starters, which makes some people feel rushed but we don't mind . We plan to return as the food was completely on point.

Waited for nearly 1 hour to be seated after booking a table and time slot. Service was very poor and didn't see a menu until we were sat down. Didn't even get offered a drink while we were waiting. Very unprofessional.

A bit of a mixed bag this time unfortunately. I have had the chicken chaat puri both as a take out and at the restaurant and is usually delicious but today it lacked flavour. The wings were not to my liking and the butter chicken was very spicy, oily and lacked creaminess and taste. Everything else was fine and enjoyable.

We popped in for a family celebration after being let down by another restaurant The service by Taher was fantastic he looked after us so well ( service to us is everything as we own 3 restaurans), and the food was delicious We understand this place has had a rough time with reviews, but we would recommend this place 100% . Thank you so much x we will be back it the best chicken tikka iv had in years

Just zap minutes late and forgot naan but came back straight away within 10 minutes with free popadoms.

This is the first time I have used the Velvet Lounge, and it won't be my last. The food was delicious, it arrived spot on time and the delivery guy was friendly ... which makes a delightful change. Well done The Velvet Lounge.

A superb fine dining experience. I went on a culinary adventure and was lost for words. Not your usual run of the mill curry house. Will be back again soon. Keep up the good work lads

Curry was flavourful but very watery. Garlic naan came as plain naan Chips never travel well but was soggy and luke warm The Chops in the mixed starter was delicious. Pretty average unfortunately.

All the food I ordered was of good quality and tasty, but as you can imagine and appreciate as it’s also a restaurant, it’s a tad expensive for a takeaway. Would I order again? Definitely.

The chicken balti was delicious, full of flavour , also the vegetable samosas were the best I've tasted. The food arrived on time and was just right for eating. In short it was excellent.
