We visited one of our local pubs, George and Dragon today for the first time since it reopened, and wow, what a transformational makeover we found inside! From tired worn out furnishings to new furniture and lovely clean, and modern suroundings, yet still with all the charm of a country village pub. Good size pool/snooker table remains in its own area. Rooms nicely decorated throughout, lots of space and two lovely roaring fires, very welcoming, warm and toasty. Tables can be reserved. Large car park at the rear. Typical pub menu catering for all tastes and ages. A small wait on food but we were prewarned as food is cooked fresh to order. Pub quite busy considering it was mid Sunday afternoon, but thats always a good sign. Staff friendly and attentive. We ordered 2 steak and ale pies, burger and chips, and fish and chips, see photos. All arrived at the same timw and piping hot. They also do takeaways! Lovely dining experience. We will definitely return again soon and can highly recommend to families, friends and couples.

This is a lovely little place to visit. Everything is fresh & homemade. The staff were pleasant and they made us feel welcome. Went for a light bite, which consisted of 4 thick slices of granary bread, pate, chutney, coleslaw, side salad and crisps. Very generous portions and reasonably priced too. They did pannini's, toasties, jacket potatoes etc. Then we were spoilt for choice when it came to the cake selection. There were about 5 cakes, 4 cheesecakes, flapjack and scones on offer. I went for the Strawberry & white chocolate cheesecake, which tasted delicious. It was a very generous slice, so took half of it home. There were numerous things you could purchase from the farm shop as well. It was also accessible for wheelchair users and you can also take dogs as well.

We were staying at Westfield country Park in one of the lodges. Decided to try the spotted duck for Sunday lunch. Three portion sizes large, regular or small, went for the regular which was huge! Hubby had roast turkey. I had roast beef both of which was absolutely delicious. The beef was really tender and very lean. Both meals came with two Yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls, roast potatoes, veg, and gravy. Couldn’t fault it. Too full to have dessert, so we took a piece of the coffee and walnut cake back with us which was a huge slab that easily fed the two of us. The cake was lovely and moist. Luckily, we had booked a table as it was full. I must add that earlier on in the week we actually sampled one of their full breakfasts which, like the Sunday lunch, was huge and delicious.

Really disappointing visit to the Railway Inn, it was recommended to us so we thought we would pay it a visit. We was rudely welcomed and just sat down(which seemed to be some effort to the staff) the owner was rude to our children as they was on there way back from the toilet and we felt rushed throughout. The food was below par, undercooked potatoes and veg and fatty meat was really disappointing when paying £15 for a Sunday lunch, you can’t charge premium prices and deliver sub par food. I wouldn’t recommend!

Passed this place many times in my hgv but never stopped as it's quite a narrow street and parking is limited. I was passing in my car tonight so stopped to have a gander and got curry and chips to test the water.......chips were spot on, and the curry was amazing, might even be the best I've had from a chippy. Next time I'm passing I'm stopping to have a go at the fish even if I block the road while I grab it 😄

We booked into the lodges next to the Gardeners Inn and decided to walk around for dinner & drinks. The venue is decorated for Halloween which I did enjoy and we had a lovely welcome from the waitress. A few item were sold out but the menu was plentiful and the food did not disappoint. I had the sizzling hunters chicken and my partner had Korean Chicken. Portion size was fantastic the side salad & slaw was fresh, definitely the best hunters chicken I’ve had. Banoffee Pie & cream for dessert again it was better than any other I’ve tried. Lovely atmosphere, service time felt right for the number of tables eating and the price was reasonable. Would recommend 100%
