The Spotted Duck in East Riding of Yorkshire

Absolutely delicious breakfast, and believe me I mean delicious served by friendly people in a lovely cafe.

We were staying at Westfield country Park in one of the lodges. Decided to try the spotted duck for Sunday lunch. Three portion sizes large, regular or small, went for the regular which was huge! Hubby had roast turkey. I had roast beef both of which was absolutely delicious. The beef was really tender and very lean. Both meals came with two Yorkshire puddings, stuffing balls, roast potatoes, veg, and gravy. Couldn’t fault it. Too full to have dessert, so we took a piece of the coffee and walnut cake back with us which was a huge slab that easily fed the two of us. The cake was lovely and moist. Luckily, we had booked a table as it was full. I must add that earlier on in the week we actually sampled one of their full breakfasts which, like the Sunday lunch, was huge and delicious.

Excellent tea room that’s off the beaten track so not too busy. Staff are very friendly, food’s really good & the cakes are amazing. Will visit again if we holiday up this far from Bristol in the future.

Fantastic cafe/tea room. You get a lot for your money & the quality is excellent we were full. The cakes are amazing. The staff were so nice & friendly. It’s dog friendly outside only & we had our dog with us so sat outside so cannot comment on inside seating.

The food is amazing. The staff are absolutely lovely. Nothing is ever too much trouble. We had pizza's. Breakfast and Sunday roast and some cakes and puddings and omg they are absolutely amazing. What can I say.. Thank you. Thank you for a wonderful day. We booked for a family afternoon tea for our Mums 80th birthday celebration & it was wonderful. The food was amazing, the place is amazing & the owners & staff are amazing. If you are think of having a small intimate experience this is the place. Would definitely recommend & will be definitely going back.

We had an absolutely beautiful meal here. The food was all locally sourced, service was second to none, very friendly owner & the prices were excellent value. Would definitely recommend this place & will be returning in our next visit to the area.

Visited The Spotted Duck this lunchtime (25th September) with my husband. We both had a regular breakfast and it was absolutely delicious - compliments to the chef!! There was a varied menu, the food and service were excellent and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning as it is such a lovely venue.

Had a birthday cake and buffet from here as staying nearby for my husbands 60th would recommend the spotted duck having been before for lunch thought I’d give it a try the buffet was fresh and plentiful for 4 people. We was staying on the nearby holiday park and fancied going out for breakfast. After a quick Google search we learned that we need not travel. In fact, we were already at the best location for the best breakfast in the area based on reviews. And the reviews were not wrong. Food was amazing and service was excellent. Highly recommend

What an excellent experience at The Spotted Duck. I was taken here for afternoon tea for my birthday and it was absolutely scrumptious! It was a perfect mix of savoury and sweet and everything tasted sublime. Joanne, Ian (the new owners) and their staff were very welcoming and could not do enough for us. The best afternoon tea I’ve had! Generous portion sizes, and the staff were happy to offer us boxes to take our leftovers home (my husband was thrilled about the homemade sausage roll and chocolate cake he found in the fridge!). Relaxed atmosphere and wonderful staff. Joanne and Ian, the new owners, were so friendly and welcoming. The savoury food was delicious - a range of sandwiches, homemade quiche, cheese pastries, salad, crisps and sausage rolls - and the sweet food was equally as good. My friend and I were really impressed by the whole experience. We will definitely be going back soon.

On arrival we was greeted with very friendly staff, very lovely food we had lunch on our first visit! We was told that there was a pizza evening which was there first night trying them! And I must say wow…! Very fresh, tasty and piping hot. Would definitely recommend here if you are passing or staying. The owners are very lovely and friendly and happy to help.

The Spotted Duck Tea Room is an absolute gem! We recently visited while staying nearby and were blown away by their amazing cooked breakfast. The food was delicious, perfectly prepared, and truly one of the best we’ve ever had. What made the experience even more special was the wonderful staff. They were so welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. They even brought fresh drinking water for our dog, which was such a thoughtful touch and showed how much they genuinely care about their customers. Fantastic service called for tea yesterday and Helen was very friendly and food was amazing all freshly cooked on the day. Called back today for afternoon tea, and food once again was incredible Helen made time to come over and chat to us and see how the food was. I would highly recommend anyone visiting to call in for a bite to eat.

What a Gem of a place, with lovely surroundings great food and fantastic staff what a combination, we just stumbled across it and was not disappointed. Cannot recommend this place enough! From booking a table to leaving with boxes of treats - the Spotted Duck is highly recommended. The lovely and friendly team made our afternoon tea experience enjoyable and relaxing. No problem finding with SatNav, plenty of car parking spaces, great communication with regards to adapting for dietary requirements, an abundance of tea and delicious cakes, a calm and quiet environment, indoor and outdoor seating, and we left with a few treats. We came for afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious, a fantastic selection of sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, crisps and a lot of buns. The service was second to none and all of the staff, especially Ian were very attentive and amiable.

I had a nice time visiting with my parents. We ordered tea and sandwiches and they came out pretty fast and it was presented with a lot of care put into the little details. I got a tuna melt panini with salad and coleslaw that cost around 11.95 (I'm not sure exactly, maybe less). It was made with simple good quality ingredients, they didn't skimp on the fillings either! It was a decent size panini and I was stuffed after eating it, we all ended up not needing a big dinner in the evening. They were well organised and I'm confident their other menu items would be just as good. The cakes and pastries had that slightly wonky handmade look so there's no doubt they were all made from scratch. I'll definitely go again next time I'm in the area!

This lovely tea room is well worth wandering off your usual route for. A modern building with access for prams and wheelchairs. Warm, tidy, and inviting you won't find this on the high street. A good range of options on the menu. Delicious home made cakes, and a fabulous range of tea and coffee.

This cafe was a regular place for my husband and myself, always great food and friendly staff. They did outside catering for his 70th Birthday and he enjoyed his 75th Birthday at the cafe in August. It was only appropriate that Helen and staff catered for his wake when he passed away in November. He would have loved the wonderful send off with all his family and friends together. Helen and the staff really did him proud and have my grateful thanks for making a sad occasion bearable. Pam Jackson

Friendly staff. 100% value fur money. Considering they have a market as there’s not much nearby they could increase their prices. Returned twice and will be returning tomorrow for breakfast as a stroll away from Green Meadow lodges. Felt very welcome. We didn’t have lunch but saw others that did including afternoon teas. Great portions. A great find.

We were a little disappointed. We had afternoon tea but you know when you have an image in your mind of what it will be, this wasn't it. Dainty sandwiches and an attractive and pretty room to eat it in. On arrival you are met with the smell of fried foods from the cooking of the other meals on offer...it's a cafe. The staff were friendly enough and service was quick but it's not an environment however high the wooden ceilings are or the beautiful lodges for rent on the other side of the carpark. There was far too much food and we needed a doggie bag for the rest. The business could save money if they economised on the chunky sandwich bread and the quiche which again was too much. Sorry but it should be traditional and dainty not chunky and smelly.

The Spotted Duck is clearly one of East Yorkshire's best kept secrets so having received a voucher for Christmas I am glad we discovered this little oasis. The food and service for Afternoon Tea with fizz were truly exceptional so we will return to try out the rest of the menu. It was constantly busy while we were there and it is now not difficult to understand why! Thank you to the staff for serving food heaven 👍

Booked an afternoon tea for my mother’s 90th Birthday. What a lovely spread the staff put on. Nothing was too much trouble. Been here several times and never been disappointed. Would certainly recommend this venue if looking for a get together.

Lovely tea room. Offering anything from afternoon tea to lunches, even all day breakfasts. Managed to get a table even though very busy (advise to book in advance). Lovely food,friendly staff. Didn't have room for desert so took some cakes back with us. Definitely worth a visit. Will definitely try the afternoon tea next time

first visit to spotted duck after recomendation and we must say amazing we had the afternoon tea it was great value for money lovley selection of sandwiches pastries and cakes (they even provided takeaway box for left over which we needed ) every thing was lovley and fresh service was 10 out of 10 the ladys were lovley and friendly hears to another visit soon

Went here for my cousins baby shower for afternoon tea. I'm lactose intolerance and my cousin is gluten free we were certainly catered for. For £15 we got our own stands full of goodies and unlimited tea and coffee. We didn't finish any of the stands and took plenty home. Lovely food and people

Afternoon tea at the spotted duck. What a treat. It is in a very rural location between hull and Withernsea and is in a converted barn attached to a caravan park. The food is plentiful with a nice cake selection. The sandwiches consisted of 8 fingers with tuna , egg mayonnaise, ham and cheese. There was also some homemade sausage rolls ( not to my taste) ,cheese and onion quiche and some lovely little cheese scones once again homemade. It was nice to have the Branston pickle in a little dish and a small salad garnish. To add to sandwiches as required. They also supplied some salt and vinegar crisps. But my wife would have liked plain. They also gave us a carton to bring home the leftovers. All in all an excellent offering in a nice quiet location. Follow your sat nav with the Post code and you can't go wrong

Arrived here at 0930hrs, after seeing the opening hours on Google. However when we turned up, it appeared that they open at 10! The lady was very apologetic and insisted we sat down, bringing us menus. (Please don't turn up early!) We both ordered the spotted duck breakfast. It was amazing, good quality meat, and tasted really fresh. Nothing was too much trouble. Well priced and the staff were all so smiley and friendly! The cakes looked home made, and really tasty but was too full to try! Definitely recommend 👌🏼

Very popular, we rung ahead for a table. Greeted warmley, simple menu plenty of choice, even gluten free cake. Service, food and drink excellent value for your money. And given information about the lakes you can walk around. Highly recommend and sure to visit again.

Came for a breakfast as staying nearby. Lovely food and staff, can't fault that. Ate outside in a covered area as rain threatened and I had dogs. It is dog friendly but you have to stay on the patio. Inside was lovely and clean, outside lacked attention though. Fag ends on the floor and overflowing from the ashtray. Table could have benefited from a good clean to remove sugar and some dried food, may have been partly the reason for the wasps around and the jamjar traps they used to catch them. Dog bowls outside had not been cleaned for weeks, or longer in the case of the large one going green. I would come again and sit inside to eat but wouldn't come again with dogs to sit outside as it detracts from the enjoyment of food.

Popped in today for the first time with my mum and daughter, intended on having cake but the meals looked so good we decided to have lunch. We were not disappointed. Will definitely return.

We ordered the afternoon tea for four as a celebration for my daughter’s A level results. Reserved a table, asked for a vegetarian option for one too and received a prompt e-Mail saying that it was booked and thanked us for the advanced order. A lovely array of classic sandwiches and savouries, lovely cake selection and the scones were delicious. The huge pot of tea was just what was needed and could be refilled. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. The cafe was busy and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Would definitely visit again. Thank you.

Went for an afternoon tea with my wife, because we are celebrating just getting married and my birthday. The afternoon was amazing all the food was freshly homemade, it reminded my of birthday teas at home growing up with my parents. They then surprised me we a slice of chocolate cake on a birthday board and sang happy birthday. Would highy recomend this place to anyone, value for money and excellent staff and food. 10 out of 10

We stayed In the lodges & had a lovely breakfast here at the spotted duck our Labrador was spoilt too & got a sausage. We returned for lunch another day & had pie of the day. It was lovely too. ice creams are lovely too...

Very kindly fitted us on short notice for Afternoon Tea. Pleasant staff,service slow had to go and ask for the bill as I couldn't get their attention. Sandwiches the best bit of the afternoon tea. Lots of cream (not clotted ☹️) and jam for the scone. Cakes very basic and did not feel indulgent. Chocolate piece was dry,thank goodness for the left over cream. One sandwich small meringue and Madeira cake pieces left asked to take them home. They only put on the cake!! It was nice but have had better afternoon teas

Went a couple of times but on one occasion over charged by £10. Thought it was expensive for one full English, one sausage and egg sandwich a slice of cake milkshake and 2 coffees came to £32, I trotted up from menu card in lodge...

Visited post-covid, they have it right. All staff wearing visors, social distance markers, sanitising, spaced out tables. This has not affected the service of the food.
