The Spotted Duck in East Riding of Yorkshire

Just got home after having afternoon tea with my lovely friend, food was lovely, staff very welcoming and service was very quick, highly recomend a visit

We came for afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious, a fantastic selection of sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, crisps and a lot of buns. The service was second to none and all of the staff, especially Ian were very attentive and amiable.

I had a nice time visiting with my parents. We ordered tea and sandwiches and they came out pretty fast and it was presented with a lot of care put into the little details. I got a tuna melt panini with salad and coleslaw that cost around 11.95 (I'm not sure exactly, maybe less). It was made with simple good quality ingredients, they didn't skimp on the fillings either! It was a decent size panini and I was stuffed after eating it, we all ended up not needing a big dinner in the evening. They were well organised and I'm confident their other menu items would be just as good. The cakes and pastries had that slightly wonky handmade look so there's no doubt they were all made from scratch. I'll definitely go again next time I'm in the area!

This lovely tea room is well worth wandering off your usual route for. A modern building with access for prams and wheelchairs. Warm, tidy, and inviting you won't find this on the high street. A good range of options on the menu. Delicious home made cakes, and a fabulous range of tea and coffee.

This cafe was a regular place for my husband and myself, always great food and friendly staff. They did outside catering for his 70th Birthday and he enjoyed his 75th Birthday at the cafe in August. It was only appropriate that Helen and staff catered for his wake when he passed away in November. He would have loved the wonderful send off with all his family and friends together. We found this place courtesy of a voucher for a cream tea. Great first impression after a phone call to check they would be flexible in respect of how we used the voucher. The place is set in a lovely, quiet place - the lodges look great. Rather than a cream tea we settled for quiche salad washed down with fizz and a lump of cake with coffee and were more than happy to pay the difference. For the quality of what we had - cakes and pastries baked on site…and you can tell - the welcome and service in a lovely setting this place really is top notch. A proper salad rather than a few bits of limp lettuce and a slice of tomato. The cakes really are divine We loved it and will definitely go back.

Breakfast and a coffee. Full marks. Will be returning!

Over priced. Friendly enough service but not outstanding. Expected more after reading other reviews. Also, I’m sure I was wrongly charged, menu online says £21 pp, we were charged £46. Little pastry bites were stale, 1 small bucket of crisps for 2 people? Really disappointed, had better for half the price and we had drove out for this.

Friendly staff. 100% value fur money. Considering they have a market as there’s not much nearby they could increase their prices. Returned twice and will be returning tomorrow for breakfast as a stroll away from Green Meadow lodges. Felt very welcome. We didn’t have lunch but saw others that did including afternoon teas. Great portions. A great find.

My mum and myself were given a voucher for Christmas for afternoon tea. We picked The Spotted Duck as it had very good reviews, we were not disappointed. The table was ready with china plates and our tea was served with no waiting. We were served nice large finger sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, cheesy stars, cakes and clotted cream scones. It was all very filling and we took a box home each of things we couldn’t eat. Will definitely come again to try something off the menu ☺️

Had afternoon tea here and wow I’m sorry I didn’t take a photo it was delicious and so much food, everything tasty fresh and home made it was presented beautifully on a gorgeous stand and staff were very attentive. A real hidden gem would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in the area.

We were a little disappointed. We had afternoon tea but you know when you have an image in your mind of what it will be, this wasn't it. Dainty sandwiches and an attractive and pretty room to eat it in. On arrival you are met with the smell of fried foods from the cooking of the other meals on offer...it's a cafe. The staff were friendly enough and service was quick but it's not an environment however high the wooden ceilings are or the beautiful lodges for rent on the other side of the carpark. There was far too much food and we needed a doggie bag for the rest. The business could save money if they economised on the chunky sandwich bread and the quiche which again was too much. Sorry but it should be traditional and dainty not chunky and smelly.

An unpretentious building and off the beaten track. But well worth a visit. Friendly, welcoming staff serving excellent food at very reasonable prices.

The Spotted Duck is clearly one of East Yorkshire's best kept secrets so having received a voucher for Christmas I am glad we discovered this little oasis. The food and service for Afternoon Tea with fizz were truly exceptional so we will return to try out the rest of the menu. It was constantly busy while we were there and it is now not difficult to understand why! Thank you to the staff for serving food heaven 👍

Booked an afternoon tea for my mother’s 90th Birthday. What a lovely spread the staff put on. Nothing was too much trouble. Been here several times and never been disappointed. Would certainly recommend this venue if looking for a get together.

Lovely tea room. Offering anything from afternoon tea to lunches, even all day breakfasts. Managed to get a table even though very busy (advise to book in advance). Lovely food,friendly staff. Didn't have room for desert so took some cakes back with us. Definitely worth a visit. Will definitely try the afternoon tea next time

first visit to spotted duck after recomendation and we must say amazing we had the afternoon tea it was great value for money lovley selection of sandwiches pastries and cakes (they even provided takeaway box for left over which we needed ) every thing was lovley and fresh service was 10 out of 10 the ladys were lovley and friendly hears to another visit soon

Went here for my cousins baby shower for afternoon tea. I'm lactose intolerance and my cousin is gluten free we were certainly catered for. For £15 we got our own stands full of goodies and unlimited tea and coffee. We didn't finish any of the stands and took plenty home. Lovely food and people

Afternoon tea at the spotted duck. What a treat. It is in a very rural location between hull and Withernsea and is in a converted barn attached to a caravan park. The food is plentiful with a nice cake selection. The sandwiches consisted of 8 fingers with tuna , egg mayonnaise, ham and cheese. There was also some homemade sausage rolls ( not to my taste) ,cheese and onion quiche and some lovely little cheese scones once again homemade. It was nice to have the Branston pickle in a little dish and a small salad garnish. To add to sandwiches as required. They also supplied some salt and vinegar crisps. But my wife would have liked plain. They also gave us a carton to bring home the leftovers. All in all an excellent offering in a nice quiet location. Follow your sat nav with the Post code and you can't go wrong

Arrived here at 0930hrs, after seeing the opening hours on Google. However when we turned up, it appeared that they open at 10! The lady was very apologetic and insisted we sat down, bringing us menus. (Please don't turn up early!) We both ordered the spotted duck breakfast. It was amazing, good quality meat, and tasted really fresh. Nothing was too much trouble. Well priced and the staff were all so smiley and friendly! The cakes looked home made, and really tasty but was too full to try! Definitely recommend 👌🏼

Very popular, we rung ahead for a table. Greeted warmley, simple menu plenty of choice, even gluten free cake. Service, food and drink excellent value for your money. And given information about the lakes you can walk around. Highly recommend and sure to visit again.

Came for a breakfast as staying nearby. Lovely food and staff, can't fault that. Ate outside in a covered area as rain threatened and I had dogs. It is dog friendly but you have to stay on the patio. Inside was lovely and clean, outside lacked attention though. Fag ends on the floor and overflowing from the ashtray. Table could have benefited from a good clean to remove sugar and some dried food, may have been partly the reason for the wasps around and the jamjar traps they used to catch them. Dog bowls outside had not been cleaned for weeks, or longer in the case of the large one going green. I would come again and sit inside to eat but wouldn't come again with dogs to sit outside as it detracts from the enjoyment of food.

Popped in today for the first time with my mum and daughter, intended on having cake but the meals looked so good we decided to have lunch. We were not disappointed. Will definitely return.

We ordered the afternoon tea for four as a celebration for my daughter’s A level results. Reserved a table, asked for a vegetarian option for one too and received a prompt e-Mail saying that it was booked and thanked us for the advanced order. A lovely array of classic sandwiches and savouries, lovely cake selection and the scones were delicious. The huge pot of tea was just what was needed and could be refilled. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. The cafe was busy and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Would definitely visit again. Thank you.

Went for an afternoon tea with my wife, because we are celebrating just getting married and my birthday. The afternoon was amazing all the food was freshly homemade, it reminded my of birthday teas at home growing up with my parents. They then surprised me we a slice of chocolate cake on a birthday board and sang happy birthday. Would highy recomend this place to anyone, value for money and excellent staff and food. 10 out of 10

Very kindly fitted us on short notice for Afternoon Tea. Pleasant staff,service slow had to go and ask for the bill as I couldn't get their attention. Sandwiches the best bit of the afternoon tea. Lots of cream (not clotted ☹️) and jam for the scone. Cakes very basic and did not feel indulgent. Chocolate piece was dry,thank goodness for the left over cream. One sandwich small meringue and Madeira cake pieces left asked to take them home. They only put on the cake!! It was nice but have had better afternoon teas

Went a couple of times but on one occasion over charged by £10. Thought it was expensive for one full English, one sausage and egg sandwich a slice of cake milkshake and 2 coffees came to £32, I trotted up from menu card in lodge...

Visited post-covid, they have it right. All staff wearing visors, social distance markers, sanitising, spaced out tables. This has not affected the service of the food.

Me and my friend opted for a lunch out on a lovely sunny day. The staff was so friendly and very helpful. I took my daughter who is cannot have gluten for afternoon tea on her birthday and they surpassed themselves. Apart from the delicious variety of sandwiches there was a selection of savouries, scones with cream and jam and cakes, as well as tea and sparkling wine. Wanted a tastey full English and had heard good things about this place.

We came as a large booking of around 15 for a birthday celebration. We had booked and ordered our food and cakes in advance. All the food came out correctly and perfectly timed. The cakes were amazing and the young lady even added some candles on knowing the occasion. She pointed us in the direction of the toy box for the youngest child we had with us and just went that extra mile.

An amazing little place off the beaten track, almost in the middle of nowhere. Who knew the wild of Holderness could house such a delight.

I was given a voucher for an afternoon tea and chose the spotted duck we spent the morning at withernsea as we had never been then to the spotted duck in the afternoon it is situated in a lovely location surrounded with log cabins and lakes we were given a warm welcome with sandwiches and cakes I can highly recommend this venue especially if you are looking for something different

Pleasant four mile walk from Burton Pidsea to The Spotted Duck, with dogs. Met by very pleasant accommodating staff who kindly provided fresh water for the dogs and arranged a shady table considering both us and the dogs as a hot day! Lunch was delicious, all fresh and tasty and well worth the walk. Cold sandwiches are very fulfilling as generous amount of sandwich filling along with salad and coleslaw. Would highly recommend and will be returning. Whilst there also had a small stroll past the lodges on site to the lake.

Had a very nice lunch I had meat pie excellent but the gravey tasteless like water everything else was fabulous excellent staff and fantastic cakes will keep going last time we had afternoon tea was fabulous

Nice friendly staff we used the Groupon Voucher wow what value for money. Went on Friday about 18:15 busy but the young man that was waiting on tables was great. We had four different starters and mains but all the food was very good

Fantastic place! They go the extra mile for you and produced two separate afternoon teas for my friend who has an allergy to cheese and myself who is lactose intolerant . Fresh and excellent service and quality food in a lovely setting. Refreshing fruit teas served and alcohol if you want it. Would definitely recommend..😁😁
