Hi I called into The Old Post Office and Tearooms on Friday 11th October 2024 while on a visit to Mappleton Beach and I have to say what a wonderful little shop and the two ladies that served me were such nice and friendly people. The food was very nice as was my cuppa Yorkshire Tea. They sell local products like Honey, Marmalade, Fresh Eggs and ither Items. I bought some raffle Tickets for a chance to win a Beautifully Hand made Tea Pot Cosy and they sell some in the shop aswell. I just want to say to the Ladies that worked in the shop your kindness and lovely conversation is a credit to two wonderful Human Beings... I will be back to pay a visit to your Cafe and Mappleton Beach which I absolutely Loved...

After popping to the beach we went for a coffee at this place and upon entering you were greeted warmly by the owners/staff. We found a seat and ordered. It was busy so we had a slight wait for our drinks which was to be expected when they did come the latte was super hot and the teapot had a lovely cosy on it. We chatted with the staff and found out their story behind getting the tea rooms and it was very warming. After seeing a customer order a cherry scone we got one as well and I'm glad we did, so lovely and moist. We went back two days later and had some sandwiches and a blackberry and apple crumble with custard, homemade, definitely hit the spot. They made us feel very welcome like a home from home. Our dogs were fussed just as much as we were. I'm going to address the toilet issue here because I feel these reviews slating them are unfair, and uncalled for and why they didn't address it at the cafe instead of writing it on here is beyond me. Yes it's a compost toilet, yes it's a bit smelly BUT it was clean and it was an option. They inherited it when they took it over, decided to keep it open for the public to use and have had the council out to inspect it with NO issues to be found. They are planning to replace it with a normal toilet but all that takes money and as you know taking on a business takes time to be in profit so please give them a break, be thankful you actually had an option to use one. I think this is a cracking little place and I'm looking forward to going back and seeing them all. Keep up the good work ladies you can't please them all xx

The toilets are disgusting, they are dirty and smelly, it's OK having a compost toilet, but this one needs improving. The latte and cappuccino were like warm milk, with no taste of coffee, the scones were flat and doughy, and the conservatory needs a good clean, there's fly poo everywhere!!

After having read good reviews on Trip Advisor, we went for lunch here as a family of 10. The ladies running the tearoom were lovely but totally disorganised. We placed our order and eventually two meals came out followed by a gap and then another two came out and this continued until we had all been served. Some of the meals were okay but others weren't. My son had the hot beef roll which wasn't up to the expected standard at all! However, the worst thing of all was the absolutely disgusting toilet. It was the worst toilet that we have ever come across and, when you consider that this is part of an eating establishment, it is very worrying and makes you wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen!

Lovely little cafe with friendly owners who are obviously trying very hard, the downside is the cafe doesn't have a car park there is absolutely no parking at all. .the owners need to open the field at the side for car parking as they are loosing custom...rumours are there will be a pay and display car park in the sight of the old garage but who wants to pay to park for coffee and cake!

What a shame! First visit and most likely the last. We ordered lattes, 10 minutes later a couple came in (obviiusly regukar customers) and ordered the same, they were served their coffee and we waited another 5 minutes. When it came it was nice and hot but it was like a tasteless bedtime drink and certainly was not lattes as ordered, no froth in sight! Disappointed.

What a great find - a truly dog friendly hidden gem which is operated by a very friendly family just a couple of minutes walk from a lovely beach. I made good use of the cafe during the two days they were open whilst I was staying in Mappleton before they closed for a couple of days to enjoy a very well deserved few days off since taking over the cafe earlier this year. It was just as well really as I may have left Yorkshire the size of a small block of flats had I visited every day for 7 days!! I enjoyed everything I ate and drank - sausage sandwiches, lattes, cherry scone with cream and jam, and their lemon sponge cake - wow, light and fluffy, and probably the best lemon sponge I've ever eaten. Hettie enjoyed her treats too - thank you. Thank you also for removing flying rings from sale to help prevent injury to inquisitive seals when they get thrown in the sea - you're true animal lovers. I recommended The Old Post Office to several people I met whilst out and about on my travels on the Yorkshire coast - I hope they pay a visit. I will definitely go back again when next in the area. It is so rare these days to get delicious home made food, let alone at a good price. This is really the only place to eat in the village and obviously popular with the locals. As the rain poured down and half of Yorkshire disappeared underwater my wife and I and our two local friends sought solace in this delightful cafe by the coast. We treated ourselves to home made steak pie and peas, with mint sauce if required for the peas and a hug of gravy. An absolute treat it was too, melt in the mouth pastry, washed down with pots of tea. It would have been rude not to try an ice cream too, so I plumped for a double waffle with chocolate and toffee fudge. Worth also noting is the self composting loo, a laudable effort in these times of climate change awareness. A lovely experience, thank you.

The ice-cream dessert was wonderful and the selection of cakes were all delicious. We took home the cakes we were unable to finished enjoyed them at home. Thankyou to all the staff for a very enjoyable afternoon.

It used to be a fabulous little cafe, but it seems to have gone down hill. Unfortunately they have lost my custom... such a shame!

fantastic little cafe, booked festive afternoon tea for 6 of us, the staff were wonderful, very attentive, the food was amazing, when we booked we were quoted £20 per head, we gave our host our £20 and she went to the counter with our £120. when she didn't come back we went up to see if there was a problem only to find a member of staff arguing we have to pay £25 each, apparently the festive menu is £5 more for a mince pie instead of a scone and a paper cracker, so what was a wonderful afternoon ended with an argument over money when we clearly had a text confirming booking and price. arguing with a customer in a cafe full of customers isn't recommended, we should have been regaling our wonderful visit but now we are talking about the embarrassing ending. staff training needed

What a great find! I really wasn’t feeling my usual love for Bridlington today as it was very cold and dull so I was rapidly changing my plans for the day. I was heading towards the Spa when I spotted this lovely little coffee shop and ventured in. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with a steady flow of customers coming in, many of whom were locals or regulars as they knew the barista by name. The menu was great with a huge range of food and so many drinks! It was lovely to see that the prices were very reasonable and it was possible to get smaller meals such as toast or crumpets with a variety of toppings at a good price. Often in seaside towns it can be almost impossible to get tea and toast etc. Not everyone wants, or can afford, a full blown meal so this is a great feature of the cafe. I had an Americano with oat milk (other non-dairy and lacto free milks also available) and a prepackaged gluten free chocolate cake bar, served warm. The cakes on display all looked very tasty ; it’s December so I was seeing the Winter range but this changes in Summer. It’s a small coffee shop but there’s a good range of seating and it is wheelchair accessible. Warm, welcoming, wonderful; if you are in the area I highly recommend it!

We come here often. Yasmin, the owner, is lovely and friendly. Always remembers us and our likes and dislikes. Don't be put off by the decor, especially if you are a certain age proflie; the coffee is superb, for instance. If you order food, be prepared for ample helpings. Don't assume, if all the seats in the front are occupied, that the place is full. There are other seats out back. Oh, and they do wonderful cocktails too and are about the only cafe in Pocklington which stays open after 4pm. You will find this little gem at the North end of the main street, up by the Post Office and opposite a wonderful florists.
