We attended a fun private party at the Capricorn. Potential to be good but drinks a problem I Don't drink lager or beer so ordered a whisky almost finished a double when I saw loads of dead flies, looked like fruit flys, in the bottom of my glass. Took this to staff who just took it and did not offer a replacement. Later I saw them remove the bottle from the shelf and pour down the sink. Yuk.

It's not the first time we have eaten here, but the food is awesome every time. The staff were against the wall tonight with it being newyears Eve, but they still smashed it out of the park. There was a bit of a wait for our food, but we sat and chatted it. There was no issue. There were a few people that were kicking off but they handled it smoothly and give full refund and boxed food up. I urge all you guys to try this place

This lovely pub is a diamond in the rough. The staff were attentive, friendly and gave great service overall and throughout. The place had a great atmosphere with a mixture in the afternoon of all ages and groups. The food was fantastic, especially the homemade Wensleydale quiche which was delicious. Followed by the very generous portion size of Sticky Toffee Pudding. Would definitely recommended and would love to return if I’m in the area again!

Never usually have fish and chips unless I'm at the coast, they are very often a disappointment. The King Fryer is an exception!!! The fish and chips are delicious, the batter is crisp and not too thick. The fish, firm and white. They also make fish patties which are gorgeous. The owner and staff are lovely and the shop is immaculately clean.

Sat outside (no inside) under a makeshift dodgy shelter, likely to blow away on a stormy day. Ordered 1 coffee 1 tea and quiche for two, which took an age to arrive. Served in paper ups, paper plates and plastic cutlery. No salad with quiche just a mountain of coleslaw. Had to ask for milk for my coffee and out came a whole cows worth in a jug. People behind us asked for victoria sponge and out came red velvet. The lady queried, the cake and was assured it was victoria sponge. Open bin right next to the table for you to put your rubbish in, that wont be nice when the weather starts to warm up. The only good thing is we were undercharged, Would rather pay more for a bit of salad and non disposable cups, plates and cutlery.

The coffee is genuinely good here at this friendly local business. They’ve made an effort with the decor too so it’s a pleasant place to visit. So for coffee I’ll come here above Costa up the high street. It’s certainly cheaper. On the food front I can’t really judge as I got a soup for a couple of quid and saw them get the can of Heinz off the shelf and the slice of bread out of the bag! A bit more mystery could be preserved, but I guess for the price I can’t complain!
