City and County in East Riding of Yorkshire

Went for dinner with family (aged 25-35) sat down with array of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks (served at the bar) after then ordering food and socialising for 30minutes manager approached demanding to see ID (extremely rude) explained some of us didn’t have it on us (drinking non-alcoholic drinks) she said after 9pm no under 18’s. Extremely rude and did not let me explain we were all over the age and was waiting for food. I explained we have already been served by her staff and no body explained we needed ID after 9pm. Other staff then became rude and defensive. Manager then took all of our drinks away, snatching them out of our hands - baring in mind the bar staff served us these! Disgusted by this behaviour. Will not be going again. Staff need further training at the bar and with mannerism towards the customers. Such a shame! Weatherspoons is normally a go to place!

Having a day out in the area and needed tea. We always try to find a Wetherspoons as you know what to expect. This one was no different, good hot food, quickly served, but quite a small offering of tortilla chips with my chilli. Friendly staff, a good experience all in all

Went for breakfast as we were passing through Goole and chanced upon this Wetherspoons. It was fine, nothing much to report other than the standard 'Spoons write up. There always one member of staff less helpful than the rest and we managed to avoid that chore, mercifully. There's always one item on the plate that arrives stone cold and if you're lucky it's merely the butter. Sadly for us, it was the bacon, still so cold and raw it was almost oinking. The rest of the grub was tasty enough though and the coffee was as acceptable as always. Drink as much as you can for tuppence, or whatever the cost. Though nobody has ever drunk much more than three cups without the need for Ibuprofen on a drip from a 'Spoons machine. All in all, it was fine, nothing special, but equally, no real complaints aside from the chilly pig produce.

Premises a little dowdy and in need of tlc and furniture somewhat basic. I ordered and paid on the App. Using the App was a bit clunky and took a while to master but got there in the end. Service was swift but serving staff didn’t hang around. Food arrived quickly and presented well and had a couple of satisfaction checks. Everything was tasty and there were no problems.

Went for lunch with work colleagues, food was definitely a let down. One meal arrived congealed and cold, this was immediately taken back and replaced but then as I was part way through my own meal I found a sticky label saying "sat" on it mixed in with the roast Mediterranean vegetables on my jacket potato, I pointed out to a senior member of staff what I had found and she apologies and offered me either another meal or a refund. Today was definitely not up to the usual standard I have experience here but will think twice about going here for food any time soon

Ordered a beefburger which was served in only 3 minutes. How do you grill a beefburger in 3 minutes? It was soggy and quite disgusting as it was obviously pre cooked and then warmed up in a microwave. Served with a few frozen chips that where over cooked and dry. Stella Artois beer tasted like it had been in the beer line from the day before. Deserves 1 & 1/2 stars really but I can't mark down to 1 thus the 2 star rating.

Today my support worker and I had our lunch in this place the food was delicious and tasty. The service was good too, may I take this opportunity to wish all staff all the best for 2022

Had a lovely breakfast, after swimming lessons with my grandchildren and my daughter, glad to be back. The reason I’ve only given a 4, was that I had to ask three times to have our table cleared, after the previous customers. But this will not stop me from going to weatherspoons …

Visited city and County Three times between July 21st and 27th 2021.Very impressed with service and table cleanliness.we use three local spoons and for us is best .The Beverley and Driffield Wetherspoons could learn a great deal from the City and County.well done keep up the good work.Malcolm and Christine May.

Stopped for a breakfast on route to York and was very happy with the offerings. We try to visit Wetherspoons chain as being familiar with whats on offer helps when you are in a hurry. The service was efficient and very friendly. Food served nicely cooked, hot and complete. Very satisfied, thank you. Wish the same could be said about all the food sarved by other Wetherspoons but sadly its not the case - mention here the breakfast being complete as in other pubs we were frequently served obe with ingredients missing on the plate.

I’m a coeliac who has never had any issues here over the many years I’ve attended. Staff are always welcoming and food is always lovely!

Here again for breakfast and as with all wetherspoons we go in we don't have a problem as we always enjoy the food and the atmosphere. The staff were friendly but it could do with a bit of a refurb as it seems a bit under the weather these days. I'm sure we will be back.

Easy to locate with parking close buy it gets busy around lunch time as we only stopped off for a couple of coffes from the serve yourself machine there is not much else we can add the ladies loos where not up to the same standards as the pub in Melton Mowbray

every so often me and my family like to come to the local Wetherspoons for a breakfast. However, the past few times the incapability to look at the orders correctly is starting to show!!! My boyfriend asks for a few extras and we pay via the app, however when the order comes we are not only missing the extras but pieces from the original order! When we raise this with a team member, they then go back to apparently ‘get the extra’s’ and still don’t come back with what we have ordered. By the time it is all sorted everyone’s breakfasts are cold due to the long wait and still the incorrect order!! So we are paying more money to not receive what we would like. Please actually read what comes through, thanks.

The onion rings are nice, the raspberry lemonade was nice because you can't replace it, And the scampi are nice.

Over an hour waiting for food..... clearly forgot about us. If there are more than 10 people in here forget about it and go to the Viking

I’ve eaten here more times than I can count and I’ve always been very happy with it. I’m especially happy with the new vegetarian/vegan menu which has lots of options and makes it easy to find suitable food. The staff are always friendly and there’s a lovely atmosphere. Well worth the cheap prices.

Visited last Sunday for breakfast. Fantastic service, clean tables, friendly staff, Tasty breakfast... 👌🏼

Less than 5 minutes walk from the train station. Overlooks the clock tower. Free WiFi. 2 lots of handpumps. Reasonable choice. 1.99 a pint.

Another great meal at City and County! The Korma is fantastic for someone who prefers a creamy not too hot curry. The meal and drinks deals and the specialty nights Eg steak night, curry night etc are good food and great value.Lovely friendly manager and staff, nothing is too much trouble, we visit regular with our five year old granddaughter.lovely atmosphere.A credit to the manager!Richard and Sandra Cuttle and family

Came with a group of friends, nice cheap drinks although the food was a bit of a let down. Nothing special.

Me and my husband went in there after I had finished work my self from a bar in Goole we are sort of regulars in here. However that doesn’t matter you always get great service and always has a lovely atmosphere. We went in on Mother’s Day evening and I had something that wasn’t on the menu and the staff went out of there way to help knowing that I’m pregnant. They all make a lovely effort with you and always remember you when you go in there. They really are a credit to the pub this should be a 5***** in my eyes. Thank you for always making me and my husband feel welcome and nice to see happy staff behind the bar so thank you xxx

Called in for a couple of drinks with girlfriend on way home.

We don’t get to all meet up much with all having children and husbands to manage so decided on a rare night out in ‘spoons’ one because it’s good value and two because of the location.

A bad day for food and customer service. Food cold Food poorly served Service - lack of professionalism. Overall NOT overly impressed, would certainly not recommend on today's performance.

This was a typical Spoons,nice old building made over with little rooms and bigger main room,it had a nice carpet and like all spoons was unique to that pub we had drinks and cake which was usual good value as top ups are free.Staff pleasant and helpful and place was clean as was the loos.

Here again and this time thought I would try another veggie dish as the teriyaki noodles are delicious. I had the five been chilli which came with rice and doritos, again this was really delicious and will certainly be having this again. My husband had his favourite chicken wings and prawns and ribs which he enjoyed. The pub looks as if it has had a facelift since we were last here and will certainly be back. Cheers guys.

We are great fans of Wetherspoons as they provide consistent standards where ever they are located. Good menu good value.

Called in for breakfast last week and left feeling very impressed. We all opted for the larger of the two full english’s on offer and all walked out full and satisfied. We will be calling again 👍

I ordered the Ultimate burger, service was fast and friendly, chips and onion rings over cooked from frozen but burger was tasty. Apple crumble was excellent.

Had this for lunch. For the price I have to say it was very good. It was very tasty and not a bad portion size. I would definitely have this again.

Here again and I wanted something a bit different so tried the Teriyaki noodles and I had chicken as well. It was so delicious and will certainly be having this again. I'm not vegie but thought why not, it wasn't overkill with noodles just enough and I ate the lot which I normally don't do, husband had to do without mine this time but he did try and liked it. No doubt we will be back.

We have been to this pub for many meals sometimes they are spot on but sometimes not so good would not recommend a Sunday roast but would the mixed grill I think the pub overall needs a upgrade

Here again and it's just as good as we remembered it. I had fish and chips which was more like whale and chips and it was tasty. Husband had his usual chicken wings which he said were very spicy but he loved them. Would come here every time we are in the area, great friendly staff which makes a difference, cheers guys.

Met up with a friend for lunch, this was the first time that either of us had visited the City & County. We arrived at noon on a Wednesday, the place reasonably busy but we were served quickly by friendly, cheerful bar staff.

Visited the City and County before the Goole v South Shields match. Ground about 10 mins walk away. To me all wetherspoons are the same but the food was very nice and came very quickly. Staff also superb

My wife had a skinny steak and quinoa salad and I had the fish and chips. served quickly and very good quality. close to the centre of town.

Expected the usual Wetherspoon fair, and the food was good and tasty with plenty of it. Beer was nice as well. For a pub lunch it is excellent value.

The food is pretty decent if you are on a budget which is usually consistent across the Wetherspoons chain (except a few places). Beer is cheap and service is good, worth a visit.

We had a great meal here last night and here again for breakfast. Normal breakfast for me but husband had eggs benedict which he loved. I enjoyed mine as well but then we always do whatever we have. Sam who brought it was very friendly and helpful when we asked a couple of questions. The staff can make or break a visit so cheers Sam.

When we are staying in a town we always look for a Wetherspoons as you known exactly what you are going to get, Good food and good service at a good price.

Guisantes eran como balas, estaba aguado, huevos sobresaliente eran más patatas fritas preparado ~ estaban muy buenas! Habrá 4 encantador almuerzo regresamos a casa después de pasar unos días, el personal de goole encantador amable y el servicio rápido, teniendo en cuenta que era la hora de la cena, la decoración era interesante así como la foto de la historia en las paredes

My first bank holiday out for along time, we came for food and drinks 6 of us and that's what we got plus a side order of cheerfulness and attentiveness from a very happy member of staff that served us at the bar and then brought our food out to us also extremely efficient, customer service at its best...... this definitely needs passing on to other members of staff. We had a fantastic 4 hours and not once did this lady not have a smile on her face, it was extremely busy but she continued to train a young girl with professionalism in a busy atmosphere. Top notch service Nat

Popes in for a quick supper one evening.It's a big, tall space, I don't know what it was in it's former life.The size of it makes it feel a bit underwhelming with just a few people in. I'm sure it's a much buzzier feel when fuller.Food ok.

This is a busy Wetherspoons pub in the centre of Goole. Have visited previously on different days and at different times but it always has a decent crowd in. We called at lunch time and just had the deli deal - cheese and ham panini with chips and a drink. The food arrived reasonably quickly and it was lovely. It might be a simple meal but we have had some with luke warm chips in the past, but not in this pub. Freshly cooked, great portion size, red hot, tasty. Sometimes the simple meals are the most enjoyable and we would certainly return for food at this pub based on this experience. Service was quick and efficient and great value too.

The meal and service was excellent. I had the fish and my friend had the steak with a jacket potato, she asked for it to be medium and that was what she got, she said it was the nicest steak she had had for a while eating out. My Fish & Chips were nice and tasty, I had a jacket potato as I am trying to lose weight. I had a lime and soda and my friend had a coffee. The staff were excellent they were very friendly and pleasant.

Great for breakfasts and nice staff. Also very family friendly for meals. Also love the Lavazza coffees and much cheaper than Costa.

I pop in from time to time, the bar staff are very professional even when snowed under, and this place gets busy a lot, however, this said, on quiet periods, they are quite happy to have a little chat with you if they get a spare minute, combining a busy town center eatery with the friendliness of a local boozer

We had our evening meal here and my steak was tasty but just a little bit of fat, I had jacket potato which was a change. Hubby had usual burger which he adores and said it was as good as they all are everywhere we go. We came for breakfast as well the next morning which was delightful as we expect.

Possibly edging to a 2.5 star but you can't give them. The place is clean but I'm sure need of redecorating. The drink is good and everything's good value as you'd expect with a spoons but the food is very hit and miss. The athmosphere is echoy for coming if the side bits full and some of the staff need some extra customer service/complaint handling training

A typical Wetherspoon pub - the food is not bad for the reasonable prices we pay. Staff are friendly and you can have a bit of banter with them. Only downside is the toilets being upstairs.

As a regular at this city and county, I was shocked to witness the appalling way other staff members were spoken to by the pub manager. Myself and husband love going to our local, the food is always beautiful and we both get along fantastically with the majority of the staff always laughing and smiling Nic, Nat, Shane etc but unfortunately on one particular visit we felt extremely uncomfortable with the way certain members of staff were shouted at especially the younger staff, Bullying in its finest form this needs resolving asap it is certainly not acceptable behaviour from anyone within the work place. The bar and floor staff work really hard it's a shame one person has to put a shadow on it for them especially when they do such a good job a little praise wouldn't hurt

Not the most imposing Spoons you'll ever visit - rather small compared with most - but then Goole isn't the most imposing town. But, the bar staff were particularly well dressed: efficient too, and with a smile and cheery good-bye.Negative ? I couldn't get the wi-fi to work.

We visited the city and county Goole on Tuesday 6/12/16 for steak night the first time we have been on a steak night , I must say it was brilliant I have never known such good value for money , with excellent service and food, well I can't say any more other than we will certainly be going again.

Visited for a drink with friends on the way to Hull City for an away day.The staff were polite and efficient, we had a good time of it anyway.My only gripe is that like many Wetherspoons trips to the toilet involve a hike around the bar and up a flight of stairs.Never mind, I'd definitely return for another visit.

Concerned during a recent visit that 6 of the 10 hand pumps were occupied by only 3 beers namely Ruddles ,Doom Bar and Abbot leaving only 4 guest ales instead of the usual 5,and as Hobgolin seems to be a nearly permanent guest this seems to be a significant reduction in choice?This pubis still the best choice in Goole for real ale drinkers and the food is really good at its price point ,howeverwe seem to be going backwards on the real ales .This is my only criticism of a great example of a Weatherspoons free house

We went to Hull for a days photography on our return we called at City and County in Goole being a Weatherspoon establishment We were welcomed and orderd I can't believe all the Weatherspoon establishments we have been in to, all have looked after us and the food,price and service have been fantastic This one was no exception a pleasure to visitA great big thanks to all the teamDickie :-)

We have been to eat here a few times and the food has always been very good for the price you pay ,staff are nice & friendly as they were today.The food was not as good today, we ordered two mixed grills & when the food arrived the pork was not cooked and was raw inside, the food was taken back to the kitchen & when it was returned to the table the pork was still not cooked and we left this on the plate & explained to the staff that the pork was still not cooked.

Stopped off at Goole for lunch on the way home. Headed to the Wetherspoons as there is usually a good choice on the menu and good value.Decided on the Mexican Monday menu and had a Burrito which was served quickly and the meal deal came with a drink so great value as well as tasty.A dessert could be added for £2.50 so tried the pancakes and compote which were lovely.Located just across the road from the main shopping area and plenty of parking in Goole just a short walk away.

We have been visiting here at least once a week for a number of years for breakfast, lunch or evening meal. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is well cooked and nicely presented. It is my first choice for a steak they are the best I have tasted for many years.

last minute to dine out as british gas was repairing central heating and the house was cold. we found a warm dinng room at wetherspoons in goole. it was Friday and Friday is fish night, so we both had the pub special, fish,chips and mushy peas. this was washed down with a pint of lager for myself and a glass of white wine for my wife. total cost for fish Friday meal and drinks included £13, what a bargain. the service was excellent, food was hot and delicious, will visit again for fish Friday.

A very tired restaurant, needs a refurbish. A great selection of ales, all typical Wetherspoon. Staff excellent food cheap & cheerful. Come on Tim, time you took a look & paid for some new decor etc.

We were not nearby at the time we wanted to eat but as it was a Wetherspoons we had never been in as we were caravanning 100 miles from home we decided to go and have a drink to add to our list of their pubs we have visited. It is on the corner of the street and quite a large pub and has been converted from an HSBC Bank. It is good that they take over old buildings that sometimes have been empty a long time like our old Bank in Preston, and then make a good job of converting them. There were people dining while we were there and it was nice to see the waiter being aware of tables that needed clearing and putting chairs back in order unlike some Wetherspoons.

Our first and last visit to this particular Spoons, and, by the way, I am a Wetherspoons fans, always seeking out the local one wherever I am.Old decor, stained furniture, very tired, very very very much in need of a facelift.To be fair to the staff there, their service was good and food to the usual, acceptable, Wetherspoons standard. Let down by lack of investment in good decor etc.Get a grip Wetherspoons, don't let lack of good housekeeping get in the way of your excellent reputation.

Had to eat here as other eating places in Goole where shut.The place it's self was a bit of a dive shabby and tired.The lemonade was flat and in the end they took it off but they offered no refund food was not up to weatherspoons standard.The flooring in the gents toilet was coming up and away from the wall.If we stay in Goole again will give this place a miss.

This place amazes me how do they do it for the price? Went in for Steak night special had a 14oz Aberdeen Angus with Jacket Potatoes and salad. just so good.Have paid four times as much for a steak at other places and not as Good as this. Great

Brilliant pub ,get what you pay for ,food service quick and efficient and always lovely ,bar service is always friendly ,down to earth ,make you feel welcome dont know why people expect the food to be more upmarket when paying prices like these ,you dont get quick service in a posh place with fresh cooked food, so why would you expect anything more ,also very busy and short staffed so the lovely staff should not be blamed if there is anything slightly out of place they are trying their utmost best .If you want better food ,go elsewhere and pay more ,love this pub!

Really not impressed. Dirty tables. Poor service. Thought I'd try it as a one off, alough had bwen bwore a few ywars ago. Love the Bell Flower in Selby. This is really lacking though! Bar staff were friendly and helpful, however made a complaint about the dryness of a burger I had and as nothing seemed to be getting done, I asked for the manager. Last time I went in it was a chap named Shane. Big friendly chap. This time the lovely Jannine. Abrupt, sarcastic and yet almost smalmy in her answers. Sitting back and looking, if your a regular or a woman your fine. If your a man your doomed!!! Great Pub, such a shame!!!

Visited recently and found a member of staff who not only always has a smile but also is the best example odf Customer Service this establishment has by far......In 3 recent visits have not seen this person stood chatting once, always very attentive and reactive to waiting customers. Should be promoted to Customer Service Manager and implement this between the staff, well done N,,,,,e..........The ratings that follow are relevant only to the venue.....

Sunday early supper. The place was pretty full - but I understand there had been a power cut earlier in the day and most of the other local businesses had closed.Managed to find a table. Usual 'Spoons menu. Bar staff friendly and helpful.Food arrived quite quickly. My friend enjoyed his scampi and chips (and the chip I nicked was very tasty). My superfood pasta was nice and hot, as I had requested. The onion rings were so greasy they were almost inedible; that's the difference between four and three stars.We would eat there again.

Typical of the business model this busy town centre 'spoons' has preserved the interior of a building that, one time, would have been left to rot. Beer and food are up to the expectations of the brand.

Service was a bit slow at the bar. The staff wold benefit from a course on how to provide good customer service. However we both enjoyed our meals.Great building but could do with the decor updating to make it more upmarket.

Spent a few hours in Goole for a few hours and played it safe and lunched at The local Wetherspoons. Interesting building in a prominent part of the town. Bar staff friendly efficient and welcoming. My first choice of meal was unavailable but the cod pomodoro I chose instead was delicious and will be more than happy to order again. Well presented and nice and hot.

Staff far more interested in talking rather than serving! Customer service training needs addressing badly......Current staff, (in fairnes with one or possibly two exceptions), are very clearly below the standard/capability to provide an acceptable level of service! Also very badly in need of redecorating.....milk profits, spend nothing

Very disappointing with this wetherspoons pub. I went in with my wife for a drink and maybe a bite to eat on Saturday late morning the pub building is very nice with character but when looking for a table the only one we could get had dirty plates on it but we sat at the edge of this table for about 3/4 hour and the plates were still there so we didn't bother eating here.When I asked if they had a light ale on I was told they had Coors light ( not a real ale in my eyes)The atmosphere in this pub was like an old working men's club without the smoke and to top it all off a man came in shouting and swearing at another customer and the staff didn't bat an eyelid so it was time to leave and never return.

I am a frequent visitor to this pub as it offers the best selection of real ales in town and generally they are kept and served perfectly .A slight critiscsm would be that the odd one would be kept on the bar when it was past its best?On the food front the steaks and burgers are particularly good And I also enjoy the curry nights.All in all agood example of a Weatherspoons free house
