King's Head in East Riding of Yorkshire

A lovely welcome from friendly and efficient wait staff. The food was tasty and plentiful - I had beetroot vegan burger and loved the cauliflower wings which came with it. I had a a very nice glass of Pinot Grigio which was on the pricey side, but delicious. I really liked the restaurant decor too!

Upon entering the establishment we found the bar area to have a lovely atmosphere, we decided to be seated in the restaurant area, finding a table not an issue as we was one of only two tables eating. The initial order was taken promptly but thereafter things went downhill. Food subpar ordered a pizza and hunters chicken both of which poor quality, lack of taste, quantity and felt well over priced. Seen as it was so quite we were hard pushed to see a staff member except those throwing food at each other in the back area , table took time to be emptied decided to leave and not continue spending. Save your money and go to Beverley arms.

A fabulous welcome when we arrived! Our planned place to stay had closed (unknown to us) and The King’s Head came to our rescue; we got the last room. A lovely place to stay - we will be back!

The most expensive bar in Beverley beer was flat and no atmosphere, drinks poor Would not return

Lovely stay, great food good value and wonderful staff, in particular Lucy, Ellen. The two cleaning ladies (don't know their names were always smiling and helpful). Laudits also to chefs , my husband was still talking about the steak on Mon April 28th , three days later. We really felt cared for in a personal way that would draw me back. Thank you

A pub that needs to be avoided on the weekend or midweek evenings/night due to the incredibly slow bar service. The food is average at best and over priced. There are far better options in Beverley town centre.

Our vetrans breakfast club is held here every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. The food is good and the staff are pleasant and join in the banter. Thank you for your support.

Well , I reviewed this place 2yrs ago. Then it was the toilets and the reply was they are urgently looking at the issue. So they are exactly the same, nothing had been done, not even a lick of paint. They are absolutely filthy still. They're not even clean, shame on you and your Profits.

We were a party of 40. Had preordered our meal. Good selection of food offered. Service was fantastic, all served quickly, efficiently and was tasty and warm. Really pleased with our lunch experience at this lovely old inn. Had interesting guided walk round Beverley before lunch.

We had our wedding party here yesterday, all I can say is that they made our wedding day perfect, the food was amazing, we had our own private room, we had 21 guests which was all impressed with the food, the staff were well and truly amazing, Emily the lady who organised everything, she was so lovely and went above and beyond to help us with our special day We would like to thank the kings head and all their staff for making our day perfect We would definitely come back as customers ❤️

Popped in on the off chance at 130 on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Got ourselves a table and quickly made our Sunday lunch order. It was not too busy. Got a pint and half a coke and the total bill was £45. Food came in good time. Five different veg (small portions but really nice) two and half decent slices of Turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing ball and a lovely Yorkshire pudding. I got some mint sauce. A few minutes in we were checked in on to ensure we were happy. Would definitely go again, thank you to all the staff who clearly work very hard.

Oh dear. Arrived Wednesday 12:15, not busy. Attempt to order from the app and it wanted to overcharge me by about £6, so ordered from the bar instead. Staff indifferent to the issue, I wonder how many people have been overcharged in this manner. It then took 25 minutes for our tomato soup to arrive. Quality of the soup was perhaps slightly worse than a tin of Heinz. Our mains took another 25 minutes. We ordered buttermilk chicken tenders with Triple cook fries. What arrived was something you’d be disappointed to find on a children’s plate at the cheapest pub in town - oven cooked fries with very crispy breadcrumb coated chicken tenders. Oddly cut in half. Far more coating than chicken, I can’t recall eating such a dismal meal since I was a poor student. Staff came to clear our plates and seemed shocked when we said, no, we didn’t enjoy our mains. Wife said her fries were cold. Deserts arrived quite quickly and tasted great. Apple and Cherry Crumbles with custard, and some chocolate sponge with custard. You get 1 extra star for this. For such a prime location it’s such a shame they have to serve this rubbish. We will never go here again.

So nice to sit out on this beautiful day, read the reviews on the food and was a little mixed but took the chance and ordered a posh finger sandwich (not sure why it was called posh), and a cheese sandwich. So the staff very nice and attentive and didn’t wait too long for the food, BUT when it arrived, well fish finger sandwich don’t bother with, and let’s go to the cheese sandwich, where was the cheese!! Photo attached. Chips were amazing though. Would we come back, would we recommend, A definite NO!!! Will deffo looking forward to my evening meal later.

Terrible, half of the menu was unavailable, the Whitby Scampi looked like it was straight out of the freezer bag from iceland or farmfoods. My wife had the roast sirloin of beef, this had clearly already been carved then put on the grill or griddle to heat through. There was one staff member who must have been having a bad day as his attitude and manner was quite abrupt, almost throwing plates and glasses down on the table. Overall an embarrassing mothers day meal.

Lovely meal with generous portions. Both servers (Harry and Alice) were excellent and kept on checking up on us. Both were quite young (in fact it was Alice’s first shift) and she did a phenomenal job considering this! Harry was wonderful too and was extremely professional. Both of you were amazing, THANK YOU SO MUCH we had a wonderful time!!!! 😊

Dog friendly spacious pub and restaurant in the market square. Attentive staff. Great meeting place if you have several people in your group.

Really lovely meal and experience at Kings Head. Thank you to Ellen who was so personable, a real asset. We had the flatbread skewers which are incredible and the chicken burger which was really nice.

Had a brilliant meal with my friend here today, the food was delicious and the service from Ollie behind the bar was excellent. The only thing that I'd say is it was a little warm inside. Thanks team.

Venue and food were find, seemed clean and tidy and accommodating to a large group. Staff were pleasant but seemed a bit annoyed about catering to a large group. The food came out all together which was impressive but we were pretty much left alone by the staff other than that. Payment was difficult as we had to go to the bar to pay and there wasn’t an option to split the bill. The salad had t been dried so there was a pool of water in the bottom which made it soggy towards the end. But everything was very tasty. Only a few minor points but would make and ok experience excellent.

This was our first visit, my friend and I, the Sunday roast beef was to die for, we both ate everything which at 65 & 68 we don’t usually do. The staff were very friendly and polite. We will be back. Thank you to all at Kings Head.

Amazing place and value for money

Very disappointed with service and my food. Waitress decided to give us her life story and a guessing game about her age. When meal arrived ask if I could have some vinegar and a steak knife, ( steak was very tough ) after a fair amount of time I helped myself, asked for another 2 glasses of wine and they forgot to order them. After asking for bill the waitress came over with card machine and to top it all, knocked over what was left of my wife's wine. Not a good night. Been in for meals before and enjoyed food and service.

Haven't stayed at the King's Head for a few years so our expectations was very high.If you stay in Forkbeard room there is a step too your immediate left,unfortunately I wasn't told this our anything to indicate it was there so I have come home with lovely bruised legs.The food was so very disappointing just substandard,as I say our expectations was high it used to be a beautiful place with amazing food the place looks very tired.

An absolute beautiful pub, clean well maintained and nicely decorated. When we walked into this pub we expected a very high quality of food and service. I just got a feeling of this looks a high standards. It was a busy pub with lots of people chatting and the atmosphere was nice and friendly. We picked a table and sat down to look at the menu. I wanted fish and chips and my other half wanted southern fried chicken burger. So knowing what we wanted I went to the bar to order the food and some drinks. I was greeted by a friendly young lady who took My order and table number. I went back to the table and we chatted over a drink waiting for our food. After about 20 minutes the food came My fish looked over cooked and tasted dry, the mushy peas again looked over done. The chunky chips were good and the tartar sauce was really nice. As I moved the fish I could see French fries mixed in with the chips. This was obviously fries from a previously cooked order as the fries looked like they had been cooked multiple times and the fryer basket not emptied fully. My meal was a real let down. My partners meal was not much better. The onion rings looked awful and were not even warm, her fries again not even warm. The southern fried gravy looked like water and again was not warm let alone hot. The chicken burger was she said ok apart from the bbq sauce over the top of the bread bun. Whilst eating we did not at any point have a member of staff check up on us or our order which I was really surprised at it literally was a case of order eat then staff just collect plates. When a member of staff did ask “have you guys finished?” There were not was the meal ok? Did you enjoy your meal? Nothing!! I informed the member of staff that the meal was not acceptable and informed him of all the issues we had. His response was simply “l’m sorry to hear that I’ll pass it onto the chef” then walked away. This is a stunning and beautiful pub in the heart of a beautiful little town and could be an absolute treasure. Sadly from my experience here today I don’t think I would want to spend my money (£45.48 I believe I paid) here. Please who ever reads this review on walking into your pub I thought was going to be amazing. Sadly your staffs service and the food has let you down.

Lovely comfy room, staff very friendly and took great care of my allergy issue with absolutely no fuss made at all so had a lovely meal as well. Would stay again thank you for your attention especially Lucy

Lucy was very helpful when I went to get some information for some friends who will stay there. Lucy was very quick to understand my questions and her solutions were kind and well thought through.

What an incredible experience at Kings Head! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and greeted by Anna . The décor is stylish yet cosy, creating the perfect vibe for a relaxed evening out. The drinks were exceptional—creative cocktails made with fresh ingredients and expert precision. My favourite was the expresso martini , which had the perfect balance of flavours. They also offer a great selection of lagers and wines, catering to all tastes. Anna was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive, making sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a place to unwind with great drinks, friendly service, and a laid-back vibe, Kings Head is the place to be. Can’t wait to come back!

When the staff collected the plates and we was asked how the meal was and I gave them my feedback as stated above, and whilst I did get an apology it fell very short of what I would have expected and we left very disappointed considering what we spent. Definitely won't be back!

Lucy told us that it was a new menu and we loved it! We spent a lovely afternoon eating, drinking, and relaxing. We had to wait a while for my starter, and as soon as the finished dish had been removed, my main course arrived. I'd have preferred a few more minutes to digest my starter. We'd love to come back and stay in one of the beautiful rooms.

Very busy on Saturdays because of the market. Very loud music in the front room that may prove uncomfortable for some. Otherwise, a very good atmosphere, dog friendly in designated areas, good service and great staff. Food quality is good and the pizzas are exceptional!

There were 4 of us eating the Sunday roast. It was excellent. We were surprised it was so good on a busy Sunday at 2pm. As well as delicious food the staff deserve mention. They were polite and attentive throughout. We will definitely be returning!

Nikki and Vinny were very efficient and friendly, and brought us good food and drink on Christmas Day. Nikki had great tattoos and Vinny had a cool ring through his nose (like a bull), not for me - but they both carried off the look perfectly :-)

Beer is really overpriced to all other pubs £5.60 a pint. The food was poor . My partner had the hunters chicken when it arrived he actually thought it was a child's portion. I had the chicken kebab, the fries were worse than mcds that's saying something. Overall not a good experience. Will give it a miss next week.

Visited the Kings Head in Beverley, East Yorkshire for the first time today. We really enjoyed the food. All cooked well and everything as we asked for. Lucy was the member of staff that welcomed us and organised the meal and drinks. Lucy answered all our questions, checked about allergies etc. Lucy is obviously experienced in her job and it shows. Very professional, friendly and helpful. It is so nice to have someone smile and engage with you as a customer. Proper customer service for which we were very grateful 👍.

This place was gorgeous. Right from the welcome the staff were lovely. We had a meal and sides each and the food was freshly cooked and very tasty. Lucy who served us is so nice, friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

Overall, it's not too great, to be honest. Our food took about 40 mins to arrive. I think perhaps the delay was waiting for it to go cold. Had it been brought out when it was made and warm, our experience would have been better. Plus, our starters came out at the same time as the mains. Like I said, overall, it's not great. That said if you like all your courses delivered all at once and cold while sitting in a constant cold breeze through the door that doesn't close properly, then this is the place for you.

Great food,fast service, excellent staff

This is a lovely friendly hotel and was a pleasure to stay there. The breakfasts were excellent and was well cooked and more than ample, the bar was well stocked and even had one of Jeremy Clarksons lagers on, and wasn't bad at all. Rooms were spotless and super comfy. Downside it's very noisy on a Saturday night to the points of being supplied with earplugs 🤗.

Very expensive for what it is. We had 30% off mains with the January deal but still felt like we overpaid. There’s a restaurant side and a pub side, we dined at the pub side - portions were very small and sweet potato fries overcooked. We bought a kids burger and one adult burger and they are the same size! Buy off the kids menu if you are after a burger! It’s all the same just costs less than half. Advertised that they stock Hawkstone and still available to order on the website but actually do not have it. I’ve added a picture of the calamari and fries that was £12.79. Will not return!

£7.10 for a pint of Neck Oil seemed excessive for the type of venue it was. Lots of local youth seemed to hang out there which didn't seem to fit in with the premium prices charged. The beer was OK but not worth £7.10.

We had a lovely pre-Christmas meal. Sophie was extremely helpful and friendly and checked back with us several times. The environment was cosy and relaxing too!

Lottie was excellent! She oozes Geoff Ramm #CelebrityService and is a credit to the venue. She really made our night by making sure we had everything we needed and was very attentive. The food was very high quality and the venue was clean and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Me and my partner went for a meal here last weekend. It was very quiet but that's to be expected just after Christmas. The food was nice although the menu was quite limited as they hadn't had a delivery and had run out of some things over the festive period which is understandable. Vinny who served us was lovely. We were originally sat under a light that was really bright so we asked if we could move and it wasn't a problem. He was very friendly and provided really great service.

We popped in for a drink after doing some shopping and decided we would have something to eat. We were initially seated near the entrance to the bar but then due to the noise Lucy came over and asked us if she could seat us elsewhere away from the noise, which was very kind of her to do that. We ordered our food and drinks and when the meal arrived I had to take a call from an elderly Aunt and whilst I was away from the table Lucy took my meal through to the kitchen to keep it warm. This was such a thoughtful thing to do and when she brought it back she even gave me fresh cutlery and said if the meal was not hot enough then she would take it away and re-heat it. I haven't been in this pub for a long time but as we have just moved to Beverley it is closer for us to visit and after the lovely experience of our visit - thanks to Lucy and the lovely young man in the reception (sorry didn't get his name) we will definitely be visiting again soon and sharing our experience with friends.
