Hayride in East Riding of Yorkshire

A local Military charity M.A.S.H (Military Assistance and Social Hub) now hold a weekly Lunch Club on Mondays for local veterans with support from ERYC and the Armed Forces Covenant Fund. Food was good, the staff are warm and welcoming and can't do enough for you. Very reasonable prices from the seniors and pub classics menu. Aleady looking forward to the next one.

So... went here for lunch No complaints about the staff they were all polite and friendly enough which is good 😀 The food was okay but the portions are paltry If you love your chips then you'll be disappointed I had fish & chips & the chip portion was paltry as were the chip portions with other meals As chips are probably the cheapest food item it wouldn't hurt to give more The fish wasn't that big either I didn't feel satisfied after my meal I definitely wouldn't come for a meal again Also my relative that was with me had a gluten free sunday dinner and when she asked about the gluten free gravy for it she was told there wasnt any! So she had to have a DRY Sunday roast Wow! Is that enjoyable?? No thanks 😡 :( :( :(

I got burger and chips. Burger was that luke warm the cheese was never gonna melt. Chips were cooked so much there wasnt any potatoe in them. You couldnt even put a fork through them. I know what they did cooked. Already cooked fries. Im not stupid. If this is the level of care. For a burger and chips. I will say a pray for those that go there on xmas day

The food was questionable, obviously not fresh, as my son ordered vegetarian option and it was served frozen. Other meals were edible but not very flavorsome and the beef was super chewy, and hard to swallow. However they offered my son a refund via desserts to apologize, as his dish , by his words was awful, even after being microwaved properly!! The waitresses were lovely and very apologetic, also atmosphere was wonderful, the pool table helped kill time, given the wait of 45mins for food?!

We have just enjoyed a scampi tea, staff friendly as always, quick service. A nice evening out

Called in by accident about 6 weeks ago and so impressed went back again. A "chain" pub but lots of separate seating areas make for a cosy feel . Food above average as well. Order from the table which always impresses me

Had my daughters christening here on the 1st September . We catered for 45 people on the party menu & the service and food was amazing. The Assistant manager went through everything with me so we were fully aware of all our options. The food was amazing and they did really well with such a large group. Would highly recommend booking in and hosting an event or party with Hayride.

Had not been here in quite a while and I think everyone deserve a second chance oh boy was I wrong heres what happened. Ordered: £31.28 2 coca colas 1 Fanta also, 1 kids meal and 2 roast beef Sunday dinner and it was inedible the beef we couldn't slice so asked for a steak knife still couldn't slice it tore a piece of and it was like chewing a piece of rubber was going to have a pudding but after the meal and service we received we left I would not spend another penny here ever again absolutely awful. (was contacted by someone from the food group was asked to email them to speak about my HONEST REVIEW so I did that was over a week ago and heard nothing since says it all I suppose)

Came in a couple of days ago with my partner and was told would be a wait as had a christening thing on. The wait wasn't as long as said and all was nice from the food to the service

what a nightmare Used to be lovely here must of got it on a bad day today came as a family of 8 £110 altogether 3 meals was wrong we asked to change and they brought the burger out 3 times still wrong most the food was cold and none of us got to eat our food together as a family half of the tables food didn’t come till 20 minutes later after everyone else’s for the price we paid the food quality wasn’t great unfortunately.

Not worth the money for food. Really nice place just microwave meals. Home cooking would boost this place soo much

After being told about a 40 minute wait on we still decided to order. After 1hr 20mins waiting enough was enough and spoke to the manager to cancel our order. We were not the only table waiting over 1hr and the atmosphere was tense due to the lack of service. We were given an apology that it was not good enough, but this pub seems to be doing very little to rectify this ongoing issue.

First visit in a year or so...First off there was hardly anything available on the menu. No flat breads, no steaks, no ciabatta starter, no garlic bread, various other items missing from each part of the menu. I ordered one of the only available burgers which was the tandoori one, which of course they had no onion rings to serve with. All the food was barely luke warm, a small handful of undercooked cold fries, the chicken wasnt even warm to touch, the bahji was burnt on one side and sloppy in the middle. The baby gem lettuce in my burger wasn't leaves but the core still attached to the stem! And no red onion actually in the burger, just 1 piece on the side. My daughters glass of orange juice was served in a glass covered in lipstick stains and none of my children got ice in their drinks as requested when ordering on the app. My son opted for the bigger appetites burger which came with 6 chips which were dry and undercooked. All three children got baked beans on their plates which were clearly over cooked in the microwave as the beans had all come away from their skins and were dry. Both my sons complained of their burgers being dry and crunchy so loaded them with ketchup to help get them down. My daughters chicken nuggets looked okay. The children enjoyed their ice cream sundae which was the same size as my adults one, with just some extra chocolate on top. I did see a delivery truck arrive when we were served our food so do understand they may have been waiting for a delivery but that doesn't excuse the poor quality of the food that they did have available. The place was empty. We didn't once get asked if the food was okay. Bad service. Bad food. A waste of over £50 and won't be returning anytime soon.

Had a lovely meal at the hayride, I had the flatbread which was great. Staff were lovely especially our waitress Ronnie, very fun evening with the band on as well. Fantastic local pub!

Really lovely staff and food was great. We had rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. Bottle of wine to share and all in all value for money.

Went on a Thursday lunchtime and ordered the hunter chicken sizzlet. It arrived nice and hot and it was delicious. Good value for money and the staff were very pleasant. Would definitely go back again.

We love this pub. Always great food and service and they are lovely with our kids and dog. Perfect place for a pub meal or a nice drink. Lovely and clean and good choice of food.

What an absolutely cracking establishment. Went there today and the food was perfectly cooked and arrived in swift time. Would definitely return to gobble up their lovely food again. Yum!

We both had gammon and pineapple and egg although I asked for 2 pineapple and no egg the food came with an egg on both, it was quickly taken away with an offer to re cook but I was happy just to have the egg removed. Service was quick and server table checked and also brought a sweet menu ( which I would definitely have had if I had room) I haven’t been here in a while as a few bad meals but today I thoroughly enjoyed it. Recently visited on early Sunday afternoon, I got a bad vibe as soon as I entered, the place was near empty. First problem was a drinks glass requested with a bottle of beer was filthy and the replacement was just as bad, the gin glasses looked clean so asked for one of those. We ordered a couple of carvery meals and I had a steak pie which was served cold, they gave me a replacement which was hot but the tender steak in the pie was as tough as you could imagine. The meat served with the carvery was like you'd get in a cheap frozen meal and at some point we realised it didn't have any roast potatoes. The standard of the food was extremely poor and and a young man behind the bar was like a stuffed dummy apart from him throwing beer bottles into the dolav, that could have been dangerous. Never again, very unpleasant place.

An idiot behind the bar was throwing bottles into the dolav from distance, if the bottle had smashed the chards could have gone anywhere. Hayride is a particularly unpleasant place to visit.

first time at the Hayride today for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it, the Ribeye was cooked perfectly and the table staff were friendly and welcoming as well. Will be returning soon!

Food was cold, stood at the bar for a long while, had to call over in the end, and I was the only person at the bar. Zilch atmosphere.

Thought I'd give it ago for the 1st time after always being 50/50 and I don't think I'd honestly ever go back. We got a meat sharing platter and a scampi portion, it wasn't warm at all, scampi wasnt cooked properly and it was like a kids portion. Best thing about it was the beer.

Stopped here to have a quick lunch before we headed back home. Sadly I left a personal item there which was found by staff then disappeared! Terrible that the management took my possession into his care and “lost” it !!! I lost a lot of money, all my cards a £200 gift card and an iPhone 14! Greene King have spent 2 months messing around then gave me an offer through their insurance of £500 absolutely abhorrent

Dreadful meal the fish was pathetic and not worth the money, the lasagne was only half full in the pot

Not bad on the food side but was given dirty plates which had not been cleaned properly.

I really want to like this pub as it used to be good, however I've been here on several occasions over the span of the past year and the 'normal' is a 1 hour wait for food. Absolutely shocking to be honest. I could make my own meal from scratch in that time, yet alone the quick oven-type food that is served. Please improve this service as I want to like the pub again, I just can't with the current appalling wait times for both food & drinks.

Lovely food we had Sunday dinner with beef on the bone, absolutely lovely. Only slight down side for me personally is the dogs barking, but this isn't the fault if hayride, but irresponsible dog owners.

Nice pub with good selection of beers and non alcohol drinks about 10min drive out of Beverley centre. Great food selection the food was hot, place clean and fast service. Parked up in spacious car park booked a table for a meal and ok to park vehicle overnight enabling us to have a few drinks and not worry about driving afterwards. Would call in again if in the area

Unfortunately our food took an hour to arrive and when it did the gammon was on the sizzle plate and was completely burnt underneath and not really edible. When I originally asked where our food was after waiting 45 minutes I was told there was an hour wait but it was being plated up. Clearly it wasn’t. If they’re understaffed then they need to say so. Won’t be rushing back

Lovely food and customer service

We ate here twice while staying locally. The food was excellent and staff very friendly. The thing that made it for us is that one of our family has a nut allergy and the staff are very allergy aware and went through our food choices to make sure it was safe to order. Would certainly recommend as a lot of places are not really on the ball regarding allergies so we felt very comfortable dining here. Great service,Thankyou

Always great service. Greeted by staff. Brilliant value for money. We had a table for 12 people reserved for us. Everyone's meals were fabulous. Drinks were great too. Lots of choice always available at The Hayride. Our dogs are always welcome to which is a must for us. This is our regular as it's just such good value for money and food is always good.

Came in as a group of 6, all ordered our food separately, two of which were the chick n mix and they came incorrect but it was easily sorted by ourselves swapping the correct bits around. Asked the server if they could turn the music down as it was very loud and we had 3 speakers in our section alone, was told yes but it was never actioned, this made the conversation difficult as people in our party had hearing problems. We would like to make the visit a regular thing, however are sadly put off with this visit.

First and last time. I always was under an impression that Green King has a decent food. Not anymore... Worst wings I ever had. Tasteless, with spicy cold sauce poured over it after cooking. Like it supposed to give some tasty to it...it didn't. Onion rings were soggy, and the streaky bacon was not properly cooked, far from being crispy. But the biggest fail was the Cajun chicken, it came completely plain and pale. We asked the waiter that it supposed to be Cajun chicken... She brought Cajun powder spice in a little pot. Unbelievable!

Great food, our server was extremely polite. Comfy venue, great choice from the menu. Will definitely be back in the future!

I took 9 of my service users here for a meal. From the moment we arrived Anna and Abbey made us all feel welcome. The service we received was excellent as was the food. Anna and Abbey were patient and understanding. The service users really enjoyed their day out, thank you so much.

Been here quite a few times over the years. Food is decent, the sort of menu that you'd expect from a chain brand (Greene King). They usually have in the order of three hand pulls on tap, then draught beers such as Shipyard, Guinness etc. The place is clean, family friendly, and pretty large. Expect it to get busy over lunch and dinner periods though.

We stopped of here whilst out and about right after opening. Just had a quick snack. A really good example of a Greene King we'll definitely be coming here more often the place is really well presented. Food, drink and service was spot on.

The only thing that saved you from a one star review was front of house Anna. The kitchen went into a complete meltdown. Orders coming out and immediately going back to the kitchen. Poor Anna was getting a lot of abuse from customers and when we asked about our order after one and three quarters hours she came back and told us that it was coming out next, the poor girl was near to tears gave her a big hug and told her that having been in hospitality we knew that the front of house staff get the abuse when they don't have any control over what is going wrong. Just feel that at the end of her shift she went home and said give me a gin and tonic now and so well deserved.

I have been dinning out for a lot of years and have never known such bad service bar staff would rather dry a few glasses rather than serve , the bar was empty at the time , the food was disgusting how can it take over one hour to cook a burger and chips and when it arrive it was cold , staff were rude Will definitely never go back DN

Visited 6 times now over the past few months & always had quick friendly service with quality reasonably priced food. Great choice of menu (I always have the steak😘) keep up the good work, see ya soon.

Delicious food and very friendly staff members

Just called i today for a sunday roast and must say the food is shocking,i got the half chicken dinner.it has to be the worst dinner i have ever had. The mash was powdered mash and a big dry lump,the veg was cooked way too long the sprouts were hollow with nothing inside.the roast potato's were cooked to death the yorkshire pudding were like rubber,you get a tiny amount of gravy with the food. The best part of the meal was the salt i put on.

After over an hour of waiting, what turned up was, extremely disappointing, considering the cost!! Fish was fresh probably last month, and scampi looked like made from rubber!!. Friendly service, clearly doesn't come within the company policies, Customer comes first, usually, but not here!! If you want a good quality meal, at a reasonable price, then avoid here. Won't ever use again.

The WORST service EVER. we waited over an hour and 20 minutes for a main meal. The lasagne was a warmed up piece of awfulness. Will NOT be returning.

Nice place to have a meal, plenty of choice, service was fast and staff were polite and friendly, the food was very nice! I was expecting typical pub food, but it wasn't it was so much better. I recommend trying this place out, great for everyone. Only improvement I can offer is to have an EV charger installed as there was plenty of free parking and we could have used it while having a meal. I will definitely use this place again in the future.

It's a bit dated but it's a pub after all so we should not expect to much... It's no better or worse than any other pub

Top quality mixed grill and excellent value for money. I thoroughly recommend the ex large mixed grill.

Called in for lunch was better than expected having visited the Marine in Hornsea, can't see why its so different the Hayride is streets ahead. The guy behind the bar was very good he introduced himself as the assistant manager. Food was OK for the price two meals for 12.99 ( the coffee was spot on couldn't fault it.

I booked a hair in Beverley for my dad‘s 90th birthday, which we had today was out of this world. The food was excellent and the staff were absolutely brilliant and so professional. I would highly recommend anybody to try. Give them a try because it’s well worth of visit well done to the staff in the management of the hay ride Beverley East Riding of Yorkshire.

Let me just start by saying we visited here for Xmas day dinner and the meals are not usually as expensive as I stated. However, the price we paid was well worth it as the meal was beautiful, plenty of choice (pre-booked) and hot. Service was amazing, even tho it was Xmas day and very busy, everyone pitched it ( inc the manager ) and I left feeling full but extremely happy. Certainly would consider paying again for dinner next year.

We ordered four main meals and waited over half an hour( we were told this before ordering) which was fine as it's Christmas time. Unfortunately most of the meals were luke warm, the chips and peas especially. Also before leaving we spotted a member of staff stroking a dog then going straight back in the kitchen. All in all this has put us off making another visit.

We just had a snack and really enjoyed it x

On the table was a coloring sheet with crayons. Very clean table with enough cutlery and sauces. Order 2 hot chocolates and fresh apple juice £7 Amy brought the drinks over to our table once ready (didn't take long) food arrive hot and was enough for everyone. I have never had breakfast at Hayride and i would certainly go again. Family friendly Cheeky 2 4 1 cocktails (Fri and sat after 6pm) We been to Hayride a lot as we only live round the corner. Staff are always super friendly (Amy, Abi, Shaun) and helpful. We've eaten a few times and have never been disappointed with the food. Fully Loaded Crispy Chicken Strips this is our favorite. Only tiny negative - toilets need to be refurbished. That's not the staffs fault. Greenkings need to look in to this.

Had to wait 45 minutes for our food, not really busy. Spoilt by children allowed to run around screaming. Didn't stay for dessert.

Christmas get together with friends and family. Booked a table for 9. Great atmosphere as always, food and service excellent. We visit every week and the staff are amazing. Food always hot and the kids love it too. Even our dogs are welcome. Manager is very helpful nothing is too much trouble. Enjoyable evening all round.

Went for our work Christmas meal. Soup was tasty. Vegan burger was huge - was really tasty, but the slaw was very messy, made it hard to eat (and dyed my fingers purple!). Was disappointed with the pudding (chocolate orange cake). Not much orange flavour and was a bit crispy as though had been left out on the side too long. Staff were friendly and helpful and nice atmosphere - Christmas music and not too busy. I do tend to judge places by their toilets though and wasn't impressed. We had to ask them to sort the overflowing sanitary bin and no soap. Need an overhaul to decorate too.

Everything is great. I have come many times already. It doesn't take a lot of time to wait, and the atmosphere is great. The waffle fries is absolutely tasty. Staff will follow up and ask you if you are satisfied with the meal.

Visited the hayride for the first time tonight after moving to the area in July. Had the Jamaican chicken stew, the meal was delicious the meat was so tender and the value for money was excellent at under ten pounds. The dish was packed with individual flavours and was very hearty and warm. The staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit again!
