The best restaurants in West Midlands

BEST CHIPPY in the world? Could well be! I absolutely love the chips here at Gabriels. Why? Well it starts with the easy parking despite being at the top of the busy Harborne High Street. With some spaces on the road and additional spaces on the car park (just remember to enter your car reg on the tablet on the counter in the shop!). Then the actual shop is very smartly presented and clean. You can even see the food being prepared and your order being made out. The staff are so nice and polite that you feel you stepped in your own kitchen. And they dress clean and tidy which is so important for me. But the food is where it is actually at. The chips are without doubt the best I have ever had and I have eaten all over the world. They are the best potatoes for sure and they are cooked to perfection. Neither undercooked nor overly heated. And they are always fresh. Never reheated either. I just couldn't resist in putting my box of chips on the ground outside the shop to capture a photo of the delicious chips today. YUMMY YUMMY, HAPPY TUMMY :)

Went here for much today, all four of us enjoyed our meals but I need to particularly mention the lamb shank with cheesy polenta which was superb, highly recommended. The meat was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Would like to come back for an evening meal so it can be accompanied by a nice glass or two of red wine!!

Lovely pub and restaurant with very friendly waiting staff and delicious food. Great range on the menu, haven’t been disappointed by any meal so far! Reasonably priced with good vegetarian options as well. Garden is dog friendly.

After being a little disappointed to the see the outside of the building, this is a quirky restaurant you do not want to miss! The food was all cooked to perfection, the presentation of the food was excellent, it tasted absolutely delicious and the waiter was very helpful. I was with 5 other people and there were clean plates all round! This place is a hidden gem, we'd highly recommend it. You take your own alcohol too!

I've tried a few places in Cov which are decent buy brgr lab are on a different level food is fresh all the time and the taste is out of this world. Best place in the Midlands

A good real ale pub by BCA that keeps and serves decent guest ales from around the country and local. Its dog friendly and has a beer garden. Worth a visit.

Without any doubt the best Sunday Lunch EVER !! Excellent 5* Restaurant, Food, Service and pricing. 14 of us had Sunday lunch at The Bell Inn and it was amazing as always. I have been going here for years and it never disappoints. All Freespirit Pubs are excellent but the Bell has to be the best. The quality of the food is out of this world, the service is excellent and Ladbroke is a lovely small village. The restaurant has some lovely outdoor dining in the summer and log fires in the winter. All over 5 STARS *****

I had my wedding at Nuthurst grange on 19th April 2025 and it was absolutely perfect. The staff were super organised, extremely helpful and accommodating all day. The rooms were stunning, the service was superb and we can’t thank you enough, especially Magda that answered any question big or small leading up to our special day.
