Nicely decorated building in strange abandoned industrial neighborhood. Service was fast and friendly. Ideal for a quick bite. Burger itself could have a bit more flavor.

Honestly, the best burger store in Birmingham!

Chips with very well done caramelised onions and American cheese Miso wings were godly, arguably the best wings I’ve had in the U.K. can’t really fault anything about it other than maybe too much bbq to miso ratio Hong Kong Phooey was just a piece of work. Let’s be honest char siu pork in a cheese burger with fresh chilli peppers is something out of a anime. If you don’t try it, you might just have one more regret when you’re on your deathbed.

Now this place is excellent all the time, love the atmosphere, decor (except sometimes the lights above some tables can be a bit bright/sharp), staff, the food (of course) the cocktails 😈 but a special mention for the Pancake Tuesday special - the Panbao. Out of this world, patties and chese wrapped in pancakes with all sorts of other stuff going on and DRENCHED in maple syrup though still not overpowering the rest of the burger. See my pics and drool over this beut. I'll be back, of course, but oh my word definitely for Pancake Tuesday!!1!

Really quirky mix of Asian and western industrial decor, and the most phenomenal food. We had the special, which was pancakes with burgers, chicken, cheese and all the trimmings. We paired it with miso fries and salt, pepper wings. Utterly gorgeous, and coupled with the attentive friendly service, I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Digbeth.

Brilliant experience with the team especially Claudia our main waitress, just really authentic customer service rather than feeling routine. All the team had the right mix of being attentive without being overbearing, and accommodated our party well with taking orders while we waited for our last person to arrive. Crazy food combinations and the sorta place you could just devour the whole menu. Great work 🍔

Food was beautiful. Wings were spot on. A little bit pricey for a burger and chips in a Digbeth warehouse but I guess I'm not hip. Would definitely recommend.

The food was super delicious - we ordered the ODB burger, Dak Gang burger, buffalo wings and pork belly mac and cheese. All the food was delicious and tasty but the burgers would have been better if they were served hot (they were kind of cold). But the wings were amazing! All of the staff were so kind and friendly to us and the service was great. I can’t wait to come back!

Hanbao Birmingham never disappoints! Their burgers are absolutely incredible—easily the best in the city. I’ve been three times now, and every visit has been outstanding. This time, I brought two children with allergies, and the chefs and staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, taking extra care to prevent cross-contamination. Their attention to detail, customer service, and dedication to quality make Hanbao a cut above the rest. Can’t wait to go back—this place is truly a whopper of a find!

Not the first time i have left a review for this HANBAO its a 10 /10 for the food. The food here is fantastic good portions plenty of flavors . always excellent service especially this time on by the floor staff Holly Cherise and Catatina was very attentive quality service 5stars all round.

Great food and atmosphere. Busy with many large tables so a longer wait was expected especially as everything is fresh. Attentive to allergies so the worry of eating out was reduced. Excellent choice of burgers and sides too. The vegan ODB comes highly recommended too

Can’t fault the food and the service was good when the staff had chance. Unfortunately for them they appeared extremely understaffed last night and couldn’t handle the demands of drink orders etc. We requested the card machine multiple times. The toilets are an abomination and every inch of the toilet and the floor inside each cubicle was saturated in urine and does not make for a pleasant experience, especially in a food establishment. Overall, I’d return for the burgers but maybe stick to midweek.

The burgers were amazing, so flavoursome! The service was swift and friendly. The cocktail we had was lovely although nothing too special but the decor and overall vibe made the trio into Digbeth worth it.

Absolute brilliant selection of grub, good vibes, and great friendly attentive staff. Really great bunch. I had: Piggie smalls Burger - absolutely smashing,totally recommend! Shaolin Chips - Chips with pork belly (the pork was very good and the fries were decent) Fried chicken - Wu-tai clan with Tiger Mayo (succulent and the batter is top notch)! Only downside was the beer selection, being Birmingham I'd have hoped for more craft beer options (particularly on draft) but it was still good. Hands down you must try if you're in the area

Highly disappointed. Came here after seeing photos on instagram. One of the beef burgers ordered was red raw in the middle, the fried chicken was black, and tasted of dirty oil🥴 and the sauce on the burger was like water. The so called “seasoned” waffle fries didn’t have anything on them, not even any salt. The manager did remove the raw burger off the bill after arguing that it was cooked. Staff seemed confused and lost when any questions was asked regarding the menu and the service wasn’t great. Probably wouldn’t return after this expirence.

Food, service and atmosphere were 5 stars here. Easiest 5 star rating I have given. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we had quick and friendly service, then the food arrived and blew me away! I had the juicy burger with shaolin fries and honestly it was beautiful. One of the best burgers I've ever tasted and the fries with pork belly on were delicious. My partner is vegetarian too, and a big tick for her is that you can swap any patty with a vegan patty which opened all the burgers up for her. Highly recommend and will 100% be back. Update - they have removed the vegetarian Miso Dirty Fries unfortunately, so the only veggie fries are cheese on fries. The new additions are delicious but beware, they are huge! Not bites, delicious though and I recommend the tiger sauce!!

First time at Hanbao, a well kept and clean restaurant and bar serving asian fusion burgers and sides. I enjoyed the basic cheeseburger. I found the wings and fries too salt and excessively saucy. The portion sizes were smaller than i was expecting and just was left hungry. Overall a decent experience for the price and i may return to try other menu items. Great service and friendly staff.

Really great place, almost hidden away... We were lucky to walk in as it was super busy and seemed really popular. I'm glad they were able to seat us as the food was phenomenal!! Had a burger each and some loaded froes which were outstanding. I would highly recommend this place for the food. Service was rather slow unfortunately, but they were extremely busy soo... Maybe I'm being a little harsh? Will definitely visit again. Great atmosphere, good music and good vibes.

Love this place. The burgers are unreal. Worth a visit

We have been eating at Hanbao for about five years. First at the Worcester one, now in bham. The food is always perfect and delicious. Service is really fast and you're never waiting long for your food no matter how much you order. Portion sizes are brilliant and it's very easy to over order. It's our go to restaurant and will be for the foreseeable future. If you like burgers, Hanbao is top dog.

I’ve been a loyal customer of this burger shop since the day they opened, and it’s always been my favorite. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed a decline in quality recently. The fries and chicken now taste like they’re fried in old oil, which really affects the flavor and makes it hard to enjoy the food. I’m disappointed to see this change, especially since I know how great the food used to be. I hope they address this issue and bring back the quality we love.

Hadn’t been to HANBAO before but heard really good things online. Despite that, was more impressed than I expected to be. The food options all sound excellent and reasonably priced. The burgers, fries and cocktails we had were all tasty and came in good portion sizes. Service was also very friendly so will definitely go back.

Genuinely one of the best restaurants I've ever visited, and the place I always bring people to whenever I have guests visiting from outside of the city! Hanbao is an absolute gem of a place, and easily the best burger I've ever had, and I'm saying this as someone who isn't much of a burger person, especially beef burgers. But Hanbao's smash patties are to die for -- I've now tried the Hanbao, the Juicy, and the Black Bean Philly and they all balance the ingredients perfectly. The buns don't fall apart and you're not fighting to get the entire thing in your mouth despite how intimidating they look in the photos on the website! Admittedly, it is a bit of an expensive place to eat. The burgers don't come with any sides, so you'll need to buy fries separately for the classic burger experience. You're looking at around £15 - £20pp minimum before any drinks are included, which does make this place more of a treat for me than a regular eatery. Despite it being pricier than I would traditionally be willing to fork out for, it's more than worth it in my opinion. My personal favourites are the Black Bean Philly burger and the Shaolin fries. My partner isn't a fan of pork belly but despite this he absolutely loves the Shaolin fries! The staff are lovely and are super accommodating, too. We had half of our booking having to take a taxi all the way from Stafford thanks to mass train cancellations over the weekend -- one quick phone call later and we were able to push our booking back by 90 minutes which was a huge relief. Part of me wants to gatekeep this place because of how good it is, but I'd also love for more people to know that Digbeth is full of fantastic places like Hanbao. Even if you're not a huge burger fan I'd recommend you give it a go, I reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised.

The difference between a weak burger and a burger that has strength....... Is Hanbao. 💪

The food is very very good but the management is terrible! Twice now we have arrived and even though there were many empty tables, you need to ask them 3-4 times before they decide to let you have a meal there. Both times another 3-4 tables remained completely empty while we had our meal so it's never fully booked as the management claims to be. This makes the overall experience really bad.

The burgers were cooked perfectly and very filling, the juicy definitely lived up to its name and I would definitely go back, service was great and atmosphere was cool with a skate feel, the only downside was that it wasn't more busy when we went but arriving after typical lunch time hours that's unsurprising. Other than that, prices are great and I would definitely recommend.

First time Ive been here and I will definitely come again. We didn't book a table and team were really accommodating, we sat in the bar and Jay was our waitress, she was attentive, friendly and gave her suggestions. Food came out so quick (definitely over ordered but tool left overs in a cute takeaway box) Anderson was also friendly and super welcoming. Great job guys!

My favourite burger place in brum

Arrived with no booking and were seated in the bar area. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff taking us to our seats. Really great decor to this place. We arrived around about 5:45 and had our drink orders taken pretty quick. I took a star off on the service because the chap who took our order didn't seem to want to be there and was quite quiet. We did also wait longer than expected for pir drinks and thought they were going to come out with out food as we ordered it all at the same time. We were sat right by the bar and were in permanent view of the serving staff but were never checked on. My husband had to check with the staff about drinks and he didn't know what they said as it was a mumbly response with the staff walking away, we presume to check on the drinks. The mixologist happened to be passing our table and asked if we were OK and we mentioned it to him, he seemed shocked and quickly went to sort it for us. No huge deal but we were parched. Once our drinks came our food was not far behind. Honestly safe to say one of the best burgers I have ever had! I had the Han Boa of course and it was gorgeous! The bacon is next level elite and now no bacon will ever compare. The husband had the ceaser burger and wow a great concept. We would love to visit again but may pre book in future for a more comfortable relaxed experience. FOOD IS PERFECTION.

We had the Mac Daddy Kane and the Piggie Smalls and they were two of the best burgers we can remember 🤤 Big Buddha Belly chips were great too, very generous on the toppings. Staff really friendly too

The Kahuna wings tasted burnt. Couldn't eat pass one bite. I'm familiar with terikayi, dark soy, light soy, oyster, jajang, 'cause I'm from Asia. It was nothing like that. It tasted burnt. Told 2 waitresses who asked how the food was, who told the cooks, only to be told that's how it's supposed to taste like. May as well not ask how my food was. No offering a different flavour, no alternative dish, just had to put up with it. Paid £7 for 4 pieces of half wings (ie. 2 chicken wings) when it costs them £1.99/KG to buy and make. Wouldn't think it'd cost them much to replace with another option, but no. I've tried all their burgers and fries by now. Shaolin fries are my favourite but the bottom fries never get enough sauce. Asked for sauce before (when they asked if I wanted any sauce) and they added £1.50 to the bill. Overall, they're greedy. Don't think I'm a fan anymore.

The food was good, the Mac n cheese really nice and I don't usually like Mac n cheese. The wings were nice but smothered in sauce and I don't like that so I didn't finish them. Overall interesting building and environment, I would go again to try other items in the menu as I only did the Mac n wings

We had the juicy burger and the chicken burger and they were soooo good. Our favorite was the juicy burger, we added bacon. Also really nice sesame chicken topped fries. Well worth a visit.
