Why do these places in the Midlands never serve a pint?

My initial thoughts on this place were quite positive but they quickly changed after eating the food here. The floors underneath the table weren’t clean I was most definitely stepping on someone else’s food. The rice had no salt in one of the meals, tasted nothing like a good Indian dish and the chicken curry I ordered I had asked for spicy however it was given sweet with little to no spice. This place seems like it gives English watered down Indian meals and even then it’s still not good. I usually don’t write a review but I had to after it caused my partner nausea and me stomach pain. I would not recommend this place to anyone at all! Seriously don’t go here it’s not worth being ill over.

**Extremely Disappointed - A Complete Letdown** As an Indian who cooks these dishes regularly, I cannot express how heavily disappointed I am with this place. The food was nothing short of a disaster. The curry, which was meant to be spicy, was inexplicably sweet — it seemed like a complete mix-up or a lack of understanding of basic flavors. The biryani was a total letdown, lacking any salt and completely bland, a far cry from what biryani should taste like. For someone who knows these dishes inside and out, the quality here was absolutely unacceptable. I had high expectations, but this meal was a complete failure. I wouldn't recommend these dishes to anyone, and frankly, I'm shocked they even serve food like this. An utter disappointment from start to finish.

Or new favourite restaurant. Great service and brilliant food at very reasonable prices.

Enjoyed tasty excellent service

Lovely little place with only about half a dozen tables, amazing food, generous portions, staff are friendly and no licence so take your own alcohol. I am a creature of habit and have a biryani wherever I go and can honestly say, they do it best, I've tried the lamb and the tandoori chicken versions, both lovely. Tried the keema naan for the first time last night and it was amazing 🤩

Pink chicken didn't notice till half way after my partner eat his. Won't eat from here again! Avoid

Always have a good meal from here and the staff are really helpful in choosing the strength of the chilli taste.

Small place but food was stunning. Bring your own alcohol. Had the Tandoori Chicken Dolna. Would very happily return.

Takeaway in March 2023, had been using this place for years with no complaints, then the takeaway in March 2023 made us ill. Then we saw the 0 Hygiene rating. Haven’t been back since. Noticed their current rating is 2. What more to be said.

My favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway in Wolverhampton. 10/10 every time.

Stopped for a quick curry heading north from Molineux. Amazing Balti, friendly welcome and change out of £30 for two.

I went with my parents and we had a lovely time. The food was delicious and very well accommodated for, incredibly flavoursome. Veg. Pakora und Chicken Tika waren leckere Vorspeisen. Sami Spezial Vindaloo war unglaublich lecker. Perfekte Mischung auch würzig und Schärfe. Preis-Leistung sensationell. Absolut empfehlenswert. Lange Öffnungszeiten.

The food is excellent, the place its self could do with some tlc, and paint, but good value and food, shame we live 160 miles away, otherwise we would be regulars, don't be put off by the outside or decor .

Visited Shimla balti again. Was not dissapointed. Food and service was amazing Tried a new dish. Had it altered for me as I’m vegetarian It was delicious. Will be visiting again soon Thanks to Shem and the team

Hadn't had a shimla for a while as I had been told it had gone downhill I thought I would give it a go and must say wasn't lied to complete wast of money no taste to the balti very bland and the chips were stone cold when deliverd

Always a great place to eat food always spot on, don't go as much as we would like as we live a distance away, but you will never hear anyone complain 😊👍

Highly recommend! The first time I ordered from here I was so impressed I recommended it to my niece who placed an order the same night and was just as happy with her food. Tonight I made my second order and once again was blown away. The service, price and most importantly the food is very good and this will definitely be my regular go to when I fancy Indian food from now on!

Had a very delightful meal tonight with my son and his g/friend. Staff were very polite and nice . Food was very tasty . Chicken tika masala 10 Garlic chilli chicken 10 Prices respectable. Would visit here again.

Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants around!!! Food was absolutely lovely can’t fault any of the items we ordered. The lady on the phone was super friendly and nice, and the food was delivered in 40 mins on a Saturday night! Amazing 10/10 will be ordering from here again

Beautiful food outstanding service

Good indian food. The person who attend was very kind and recommend us their best options. We tried the lamb and chicken tandoori. The best thing was the home made bread, very fresh and excellent flavour with garlic and coriander. They don't have desserts, but the portions was so generous that we didn't need it. I think this place can improve on the facilities, food is delicious.

Used Shimla for many many years now and have eaten in and taken takeaways from here a various times and even had very late entrances to eat in My experience last night tho on the dishes I had I’ve really gotta say they were the worst dishes I’ve ever been given like really bad n I’m only writing the review cos it kinda P’d me off seriously I’m gonna be popping in to have a chat Lamb not cooked correctly like rubber in saag Tikka lamb not good either Plain nan given n I asked for tikka roti Garlic rice just tasted burnt from over kill in cooking ov garlic Just nowhere near the standards I’ve had in my 25years plus in using the place Basic

My team visited on 6th April for a meal together. We'd read the reviews, and thought it was worth a try. Once seated we were sat next to some ladies who were very complementary about the food. There were 7 of us, so a reasonably large order. We had an acceptable wait for the food - OMG it was worth it! Absolutely delicious! Hot, great flavours and great portion sizes. The guy serving was very pleasant, and funny! We absolutely loved it, and would recommend it to anyone.

I've ordered two paneer masalas for collection and both times they've tasted absolutely fantastic. You can tell that the staff here really care about their food because it's just perfect . restaurant looks beautiful. The service both times has been fantastic. Shem is always very friendly and seems like an amazing guy. One very happy customer here x

Used to really enjoy going to Shimla, but recently I've had bad experiences. The last time our food was lukewarm. And this time, we've had to wait 40 minutes over the stated time for collection, with no explanation for the delay We will be taking our custom elsewhere

Visit here occasionally my best friend and her family who are regulars when I visit Wolverhampton. The food is beyond compare. It is deliciously fresh and no request is too much. The staff are friendly and welcoming with the proprietor, who also cooks there, coming out to greet customers and ensure that everything is alright with their meals. Whilst there this time a family had come in with 2 young children who had never had Indian cuisine before. They ordered a korma as it is mild with some chips The children did not particularly enjoy the flavour of the korma. When the proprietor learnt this he spent time talking to the family and giving suggestions as to other things to try in future. After which he came back out with a mild normal curry sauce. Free of charge, which the children devoured enthusiastically. This is most probably THE best Curry House that I have ever been to. Absolute perfection every time. 10 stars if I could!!

best curry ive had for a long time

We are new to this curry house,wouldn't go any where else,we have had a few deliveries which were great we then went into the restaurant to order which was great,really tasty food.

Enjoyed a bday meal here with friends. Despite (unknowingly to us) the owner playing waiter & chef, the welcome was warm and friendly, (with a dose of a good sense of humour) dealt with our large excitable table (finally able to meet indoors for food!) with ease. Great service.

Absolutely amazing food! I would 100% recommend this place. We are on a canal boat holiday and so asked if they could deliver to the nearest bridge on the canal, they were more than happy to do this and it was delivered in good time and the food was so good! I wish the curry houses where I live were as tasty as this place!

After ordering our meal on the way home we realised we didn’t have the cash on us for the delivery driver! So I dropped my partner back at the house just incase the delivery came and picked up the bank card from then I headed to our local Asda to get the cash out, when getting back in the car I realised my partner still had the car keys so the car wouldn’t start again! Obviously it’s a really smart of BMW that you can drive your car without having the key in there with you and only notifies you when you turn your engine off! Anyway I phoned my partner who’s battery was dead then to find I had our chargers in our bag! So I thought I’d best phone Shimla to cancel our order of which the manager Shem answered the phone I explained to him the situation and because it was late at night and I would need to walk home - he said he will come and pick me up and take me home he made a point of saying he has a little sister and would hate the thought of her being in that situation! He arrived and brought me home of which our curry had been delivered So after an eventful hour I got home to an AMAZING meal! Shem if you read this thank you again! ( I know I said it multiple times that night but I really do appreciate what you had done)

This restaurant is the finest Indian cuisine in Wolverhampton.

Ordered at 5.15pm before they even opened.... Took 2hrs to come. Rang twice to ask where order was to be told on the second phone call that the naan bread oven was broken so did we want something else. They never rang us to ask or tell us. Food was nice but the wait was unacceptable.

We rarely have Indian takeaway as we feel it doesn't compare to eating Indian in at a restaurant. We had worked very late and intended on picking up a takeaway on the way home only everywhere we passed was closed. We were driving past and notice Shimla open so thought, "lets try it". We were super impressed, the service was impeccable. The food was amazing and by far the best Indian takeaway we have ever had. We called to inform the staff member on the night as all too often there is negative feedback and the positive feedback is never passed on when we appreciate how important it is to small businesses. We will definitely be ordering again soon. Fantastic!

If you know your food you'll be disappointed. It's not authentic Indian food, it's an English watered down version. Not bad but I wouldn't go back.

I have tried most the menu and can honestly say it's delicious. Would always recommend the Shimla and I have stopped trying other curry houses. Specially recommend chicken moza madras heat

Need to save numbers... Asked to many times the same questions gave address.. and cause I couldn't be bothered to give number he turns round saying not being funny if your not bothered about giving number don't order so end up in a debate order over twenty times before if you had number saved would know this. May as well have an automated system asking address etc customer service stinks foods nice.

Visit this restaurant 3/4 times a year when visiting friends in the area. Always get first class service and great food. Owner is very professional and can’t do enough for his customers. Will be back soon keep up the good work . Thanks for another great night :)

A lovely little find. Hidden in a row of shops, this is a pleasant friendly little restaurant. The owner was happy to take pictures of us and was friendly and chatty. Bring your own drinks, and conveniently there's a small supermarket a few doors down if you've forgotten or need a top up. Great atmosphere, great tasting good.

Very unimpressed with the food. Called to say my order did not taste right to be told there chef had gone away on holiday was. Customer services was very poor and rude to me. Would never order from here and would not advise anybody else to either
