I ordered from here tonight.. I was shocked to hear the chef or who ever he was stating.......I’ve been here for 30 years and I have never had a complaint...food was absolutely disappointing would not even feed that to my dog.. I ordered lamb chops I got bones with hardly any meat.. keema nan was like a horror movie. What was I thinking when I ordered from here.. absolute joke and a very big disappointment.. wish I’d cooked my own food it would be million times better than what I had delivered.. like f*** he’ll walk in a butcher shop and the scent of the food was like a dead fish........ well that’s what I got tonight.. f****** disgusting would not recommend this restaurant to anyone at all....... 30 years..... what a absolute joke...... my local doner kebab does better lamb chops...... and they ain’t even lamb...... f****** joke of a establishment....... s*** food....... STAY AWAY AT ALL COST..... cost me £45...... f****** joke!!!! SO DISAPPOINTED S*** FOOD.... STAY AWAY!!!!

We've just enjoyed the most amazing Indian takeaway delivered directly to our hire boat on the Birmingham canal at Wolverhampton. We cannot thank you enough for finding our boat and delivering a truly scrumptious dinner it was piping hot and perfectly spiced. Thank you so much for making our Sunday evening meal special. xxx

I'm genuinely baffled as to how this place has managed to get any positive reviews. We had to order a take away due to Covid 19 restrictions and collected it rather than having it delivered. After waiting 45 minutes for the food (having been told 20 minutes) we got home and the food was still relatively warm. This was as good as it got. The single samosa was crusty and looked like it had already gone though the microwave a couple of times. The chicken madras was inedible. Absolutely no flavour, bland and tepid. However it complimented well with the onion bhaji which was equally nasty. The naan bread was only partially cooked so at least there was an attempt to maintain their exceptionally low standards. On tasting the chicken dipiasa the comment was "what's this supposed to be?" I'm still not sure but it certainly wasn't what was advertised. We ended up throwing everything away after a couple of mouthfuls. This is not an exaggeration. It really was that bad. It would have been much easier to walk outside and throw £30 quid into a drain and save the cost of the petrol to get there and back.A truly awful experience from one of the worst Indian take away's I've ever visited.

We are down in Wolverhampton for a concert tomorrow and we were looking forward to a really good curry, sorry but very disappointed. The restaurant is rustic and you feel you will get a great genuine curry from times gone bye, sorry but not the case. I ordered prawn purée my wife chicken chat, both were very disappointing. My main of lamb rogan was very salty as was my wife’s chicken jalfrezi and the mushroom rice was nothing to write home about. We spoke to the lady on our departure to let her know, but she was too busy to speak to us before the damage was done. Very over rated restaurant and we can get much better back home in Scotland which is totally absurd!!

After this place was recommended to us we were really disappointed. 4 of us were crammed onto a table for 2, even though we booked. The food was bland and in places odd (peshwari naan was a plain naan with a few flakes of coconut and squirty strawberry sauce on top). I wouldn't go back. If you get an appropriately sized table I'm sure you'd have a better experience.

Visited here on 10 August having been in need of food on returning from a trip and visited based upon previous trip advisor reviews. To be fair on ordering a takeaway the service was fairly effcient and staff friendly. Having got the food home however that is where the review nosedives. My Chilli chicken which I asked to be madras hot was the equivalent of eating pieces of chicken in tomato soup, the rice was very greasy and the sub total of my portion of chips was all of 18 chips!!!. I will commend the naan bread which was large and tasty but im afraid that will be my one and only visit to Jivans.

We just called at Jivan's on the off chance an hour before a Wolves game without booking, based on the reviews we had read on Tripadvisor. There were 4 of us and although the restaurant was very busy they found a table for us upstairs. It is better downstairs but upstairs was fine. We were attended to very promptly and our order was taken. We ordered papadums and 2 starters to share, followed by a main course each and rice/nan to share. We also had a pint of Cobra each. The bill was only £15/head. We didn't have to wait more that about 10 minutes between each course and the freshly cooked nans were the best we've ever seen. Everyone enjoyed their meal and there was plenty. The lady waitress ran up and down the stairs at a rate of knots attending to many different customers. She was excellent. The food was fantastic and we will go back. It was a little bit of spit and sawdust but that's what we like. As long as the food is to a high standard we are happy.

One of the worst indian restaurants in the Midlands. Sticky tables and dated decor. Portions are small to say the least considering the prices they charge. Nearly £10 for a kebab sizzler which is not even the third of the size that local restaurants offer. We are indian ourselves so eat alot of indian food as do our children. Even they were disgusted by the quality of the food. If the hygiene of the seating and bar area is anything to go by then I dread to think what the kitchen is like.

On a wet Tuesday early evening this rather unprepossessing but locally recommended restaurant was empty when I arrived. The staff were great and welcoming which in an empty restaurant is a hard one to pull off. Chicken sag balti was good. Heat is as you choose and the medium I requested was on the mild side. Peshwari naan was spoiled by a sweet sauce better suited to an ice cream dessert. The value however is terrific. With a couple of poppadoms and a pint of Cobra my bill was less than £14. I would go back.

Great portion sizes, tasty food, flavoursome and always satisfied. Cannot beat this place, prices are reasonable and a full meal for 2 costs less than most of these so called balti houses that have marked up their prices for pre made food and full of ghee. This place is freshly made and no ghee included. You can even see the results for yourself if you load some of this lovely food on a plate, you will not see any fat/ghee/oil separation. Headed to Jivan’s after a few drinks in town. The Waiter/Owner’s son asked ‘How many of you?’ I replied ‘3’. Then got told with a huge grin and in a cocky attitude ‘Sorry were closed’ and turned his back on us. We were left standing there while diners watched on. I was puzzled as to why he even asked ‘How many?’ Also it was nowhere near closing time and there were a couple of tables free. I know that Jivan’s refuse entry if your drunk and loud which I completely understand – often Asians. But being Asians ourselves we were neither. We were literally stereotyped by another Asian – ive heard it all now. As I left, I saw a couple of white guys walk straight in and got a table. Out of principle I returned (not wanting to dine there) but politely approached the Waiter/Owner’s son and told him I thought he could have spoken to me with a bit more respect and less of an attitude. In regards to an explanation he chose not to face me and blank me instead. He rudely attempted to take a diners order as I continued to speak to him. I apologise to the diner whose order he attempted to take, that was rude of him and sorry you had to bear witness but this was a matter of principle. At least I walked away like a man with integrity – and he couldn’t. Never again!

After watching football in the nearby bars, I noticed this place was close by, was open late, had good ratings so thought I'd give it a go. It's by no means a trendy fusion Asian establishment. I think Ali wouldn't mind me calling it an old fashioned inexpensive treasure though. The food takes a long time to arrive, but you can sit and have a draught cobra and people watch, it's that small but unobtrusive. Nice booths await you. It can only seat about 50 people if jammed to the gunnels. Don't expect 2 inch chunks of white pulled off the bone chicken either, do expect flavours and spices cooked through without any harshness. Mild, spicy, hot, bland just tell Ali what you like when you order, your food will be prepared just right.I'm so pleased I ordered a keema nan. I have traveled the world, even to India, and have never came across elephant's ears like them. They should be trademarked.

Have been going here for a while now, it's my go to place for curry in Wolverhampton. I'm not much of a connoisseur, but I do enjoy the food there. I know others on here don't, but food is a matter of taste. The staff were friendly, taking our order and allowing us to make subtle changes and additions to suit. For example, they added a 'kick' to the regular tikka masala for our friends. The seating can be a problem. We had a large table at first, then had to move because the benches were a little close to it for one of us. The next table was too small, there's little room for drinks, curry, rice and naan when it arrives. Our third table in the window was ok, but my wife had to sit at an angle and the leg of the table was in the way. The immovable wooden benches and paneling could do with an update. More room and movable seating would really help.

Early evening on a Monday - guess what? We had the place to ourselves.Chatted to the very friendly waiter and, as we had a few questions, we chatted to the chef as well.We referred to the "Naans the size of an African elephant's ear" and we were proudly told that their Naans are cooked properly - on the side of a tandoor that has been brought up to temperature for an hour and a half. We were then given a tour of the kitchen and shown the tandoor and the Naans waiting to be cooked. All the food was excellent - Spicy is a good way to go, not so hot that you can't taste anything but hot enough and flavoursome.Don't let the decor put you off, they have been there for a long time and I think they work on the basis that people go their to eat, not look at the walls.Very good value for money, I'll defy anyone to go away from this place hungry.

Having read the previous reviews on trip advisor about Jivan's I decided to visit. Despite being a busy Friday night before the local derby between Wolves and Birmingham and not having booked my friend and I were not turned away but greeted warmly until seated. I have been to many Indian/ Bangladesh restaurants before including several of the best in Brick lane in London. Jivan's tops the list service was excellent, prices very reasonable, and dishes exceptional. Every dish was full of flavour and tasted fresh and beautifully presented. The Naan Bread was the best I have ever tasted and the relishes with the poppadum were so delicious. Okay so it may not look much from the outside and have a fancy interior but the quality of the food is what really matters and Jivan's delivers and the counts for so much more.

A group of us visited Jivans before a gig at the Robin2 in Bilston. We ordered starters and beers and got the latter quite quickly. It was early after opening, and the starters took a while to arrive, but did not disappoint. The masala fish was as good as ever.Main courses were ordered and the level of spiciness given. The meals arrived soon after and were very good indeed. The naans were just right and the food went down very well. We'll be back!If there was one minor point, it's that we ask for the food to be spicy and it wasn't as spicy as we had expected, so next time we'll ask for hot and hope that it hits the spot. This is a very subjective point, so not a criticism; one man's hot is another's mild.Great value and the no-frills setting suits me down to the ground.

What a fabulous restaurant this is. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good menu along with a great authentic Indian food. Licensed, and I understand that you can also take your own alcohol if preferred. I would advise booking especially if the local football team are at home! Highly recommended.

No frills it might be but Jivan's serves up quality food at the right price and it's licensed too, definitely worth a visit curry lovers.

A fantastic back to basics balti house very close to the Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton. Traveled to a concert and happened on this place by chance. Fantastic service, fantastic food and a fantastic price. I had the balti chicken chilli which was fabulous with a potato paratha - also fantastic.

This little restaurant looks unassuming from the outside amongst the take-aways along this road, but what a treat when you eat here. Wood panelled with cosy booths the atmosphere is cosy. They happily altered the recipes to omit ghee and other dairy products for a vegan in our group. I tried a mix of vegetarian starters, whilst others had meat dishes. I wish i didn't live so far away as this would become a regular eatery.

Late on a Tuesday night and nothing was too much trouble. Ali is a fantastically funny host and the food was wonderful. I recommend it to anyone. Thanks for a great night!

Jivans is great, not only do they have a large range of curries, you can also choose how hot you want it. i had a medium hot chicken tikka masala with a garlic naan. both were amazing. the chicken was really well cooked, nice and soft. and the sauce was the just the right amount of spice for me and packed with flavour. I have been to jivans on many occasions and they have never disappointed.

This is simply the best place to satisfy your balti cravings. Chef will cook a dish however you like it. Stay are always friendly and this is now a regular place for me and my friends to catch up and have lovely food. Mater paneer spicy, chicken tikka masala and lamb bhuna are our regular choices.

Ordered 3 dishes saag aloooo which had a hair in it rest of the dishes were not as good as they have been. I asked to speak to the manager who wasn't the most polite of people. He said bring my food back if your not happy with it.Poor service, poor food and very poor customer service.Jivan's unfortunately you are going downhill. Definitely not a Michelin restaurant.

Went last night. Never when when I was at uni in wolves, so thought I would give it a go. Ordered a double vodka and lemonade and let's say it was the most minimal of dash of lemonade, in a very small glassI ordered a medium lamb korai, 2 popadoms, plain naan, and samosas. After a very long wait for the samosas they turned up burnt or cooked in not great oil, I sent them back, and asked for another portion. This time it came back cooked still slightly burn but cold in the middle. I asked for them to be taken of the billThe main came again a fair wait, the rice and currey was of a decent size portion, but and so was the naan. The naan however was very thin in parts, and slightly burnThe currey was a medium but for me that was a mild, no way a medium. Anyway the bill came to 14 quid so not to badSo value for money good just shame currey could have been hotter and the somosas could have been cooked properlyI probably won't be going back

We went to this restaurant before a couple of months ago and it was a 10 out of 10 so we were looking forward to going again. However after this time we would never go back again. The 20 minute wait turned into about an hours wait and one couple even walked out. When we asked about the wait the waiter was confrontational and challenging and plain rude. The food remains excellent and I love the decor but the wait and attitude was unacceptable on this occasion.

Ok so this may not be the fanciest of Indian restaurants and you may be put off when you walk in, but don't give up. The decor is different and not the usual curry house style but the food makes up for it. I've eaten twice here in the last two weeks and enjoyed it both times. There isn't a massive choice on the menu, but it should be enough for most people. The food is good honest Indian food and good value for money.

A large group of us have been going to darts for years and every year we can't wait to get here and have a fantastic curry and a great cobra - best onion bargees massive naan breads massive starters - what a banquet !! Excellent service - yes the place is a bit rough but never had a bad meal - quite surprised there's bad reviews on here actually. My mouth is watering while I'm writing this - can't wait till next time

My favourite place to eat for every occasion. Always consistently great food and charming service. I love this place and never want them to change anything for the decoration, just keep the quality of food and the service same.

Chicken was very dry. Looks like it was fried on an old sunflower oil. Not only the chicken was dry, but it was hard, not edible!! Delivery took over an hour, so I expected good quality food but received disgusting chicken.
