There is a reason this place is packed out everytime I have visited ; the food and service are sublime . I had the king prawn and green mango dish. It was perfectly flavoured with such good quality prawns . Service filled with very friendly staff . So worth a visit .

Walked in today, only to be greeted by staff saying horrible remarks about customers not quietly may I add, then I brought turkey and ham pie. Or should I say a mortens mouldy pie it’s a good thing I spotted it when I did or I reckon I’d be pretty ill right now. Needless to say won’t be visiting again and highly advised those who do to be careful.

This is a lovely little cafe, in gorgeous surroundings. And it’s dog friendly. Food is good, and well priced. But I really cannot cope with wooden cutlery and paper cups etc. I hate the feel of the wooden cutlery and no matter how compostable paper cups are they’ve have a carbon footprint.

We had a cracking evening at The Swan in Martin Hussingtree! From the warm welcome to the last sip of wine, everything was spot on. The staff couldn’t have been more lovely – attentive without being intrusive, just as it should be. We both enjoyed a bottle of wine with our meals, which were absolutely superb. I tucked into the ‘Piggy Went to Market,’ and it was every bit as tasty as it sounds, while my wife had the blade of beef – melt-in-the-mouth perfection! Honestly, top marks all round. It’s rare to find a place that nails it on every level, but The Swan has absolutely done it. Can’t wait for our next visit. Cheers

Really disappointed with the Father Christmas experience… please don’t spend your hard earned money on this, we felt so underwhelmed and just glad our daughter is young so she didn’t notice how poor it was. Paid £45.50 for 2 adults and 1 child. The elves didn’t have a script, Father Christmas wasn’t very enthusiastic and sat at the front of the barn reading out names and what the children would like… but it wasn’t very clear and all seemed as though they didn’t know what they were doing. Had a 1 second photo with Father Christmas and then proceeded to wait 10 minutes for a bag of sweets… the toy shop is a good idea. 1 toy per child… however for the price of the experience and a £6 toy. The figures don’t add up. You can make reindeer food, and effort has gone into creating the set. Really sorry but we won’t be back. Wouldn’t recommend with children older than 3.

EDIT: after the change of management/buyout. This place has really improved. Good is amazing, bit expensive, but arguably worth it. Coffee and cake is also a nice touch for a little pop in. OLD: Pretty awful experience, all good microwaved (until hard or over cooked) nothing available on the menu. Not likely to return, wouldn’t recommend.

We went to the lambing live event. The animals are undercover and the farmers are in and out every so often, no issues with welfare whatsoever. I would have thought that the farm would have set some seating up so that people are comfortable whilst waiting for the ewes to lamb. There are 20 animals due so the likelihood of actually seeing a birth is pretty slim, really. I feel like the event is a bit over- stated. The animal paddocks were closed so we couldn’t look around them unfortunately. Just a bit overpriced. The ice cream was delicious and they don’t do a bad coffee, but again, quite expensive.
