Visiting from Ramsgate, Kent. Met up with old school pal and his wife for lunch. Draught Guinness tasted great and home made steak and ale pie dinner, superb. Food and drinks top notch. Nice meeting and chatting to Tony and wife, very helpful and keen to impress customers. Atmosphere very relaxed and cosy with nice warm log burner in corner of lounge.Room decor is relaxing throughout. Outside had ample parking to rear and garden benches open area, for sunnier days, had been well designed with a good view of local countryside. We will definitely be back to visit when up from Kent, hopefuly sometime soon. Thanks again to Landlord and all staff for relaxed afternoon spent in your pub, from Derrick H , Anne H , Ted+Margaret Bromyard.

Great place, has become one of our new 'locals', beer is good, food is good and big portions, and the staff are incredibly welcoming. Lights could do with dimming a bit, but that's just personal preference as I like old traditional gloomy pubs. Don't sit next to the log burner unless you're freezing, it gets very warm! ;-)

Great looking traditional English pub. Great surroundings and a good choice of drinks. Haven’t eaten here with the current owners, but food looks & smells good. Only thing to let it down is the landlord. Very pretentious & rude unless you are a regular. Children are supposedly welcome until 9pm however, regardless of their behaviour, I can’t help but feel he would prefer them not to be allowed in at all. Sad to say, as my family and I have been going in for years, but one bad experience is enough. Regardless of this, the bar staff are friendly and welcoming.

We went here early evening, pushed for time, on the off chance of getting some food prior to a wedding reception. The kitchen was not due to open for 50 minutes but the chef had already arrived and agreed to cook for us. What fantastic service! Such a lovely decorated pub, obviously had some money spent on it doing it up. But the older couple who sit on the bench outside the door with their dog unfortunately ruin it. My husband and I walked in to the garden and we were greeted with “I hope you have paid to park if you have been walking”, we were taken back by this as we hadn’t been walking we were only their to use the pub. We then had to endure the language from the lady shouting across the garden to people she knew, it was that horrendous we didn’t even finish our drinks we left. This was the 2nd visit in 3 months to the pub and I’m guessing the older couple are the owners as they were sat in the same place both times, using awful language! Such a shame as the staff are so friendly and accommodating.

We visited the New Inn as Australians tracing our family heritage in England. The New Inn was the place where generations of our family worked and lived, as butchers and innkeepers. They held the licence from 1832 to 1904. We were excited when a historic small photo on the wall was pointed out to us. The photo showed our ancestor’s names and some information. Excitement got the better of me, so I regretfully took the photo down to take a good photo away from the window reflection. The bar staff alerted us that the “manager” wasn’t happy about the photo being taken down. Which is fair enough. We immediately returned the photo safely to its place. I assume it was the “manager” who then appeared, using huffy, negative body language, wrenching the photo from the wall and immediately turning on her heel and running away, without a word. My husband apologised but she didn’t accept his apology, ignoring us completely. We are regretful if we caused harm, I should have asked first, but I wonder if a measure of understanding could have been afforded to us by this impolite “manager”. Obviously this isn’t a family run pub, otherwise there might have been some compassion. Again, apologies for being over-excited about finding our English heritage! Disappointed that you weren’t interested in hearing our story or gaining knowledge for history’s sake.

Visited recently for Sunday dinner after friends recommended the food so we were really looking forward to it. Ordered our food and the young guy serving us asked how we wanted our beef served, we asked for 2 rare/pink and 2 well done. When our food arrived all were well done and the waiter then told us “sorry they all come as we serve them” which is absolutely fine however, why ask how we wanted them in the first place? Soon as our plates were cleared we were then told we had to leave our table which surprised us as, our booking was for 3pm and it was only 4pm so we had only been at the table an hour and had 1 course! Again if we had been pre warned we only had a slot of an hour this would have been reasonable however there was no one else in the restaurant area, nor did we know we had a strict time slot. This also meant we couldn’t even order a dessert or coffee if we had wanted one! Food was nice but staff were very rude and unaccommodating so therefore wouldn’t return. Mrs N

Camaraderie, no better place for it, owners, staff customers Brilliant I would move near here. I have been going here for last 10 odd years. I have seen many changes good and bad. I can say that the current owners are absolutely outstanding, firm experienced yet could put Basil Faulty to shame. I have read reviews and can openly say if you treat the owners and staff inappropriately, then you would deserve what response you received. Straight as a die and yet some of the best comedy that is free anywhere on this planet. salt of the earth, Staff and customers. Food never had a complaint about their food and really countryside style menu. Not to detailed but less is more. As I drive their range of none alcoholic drinks is fantastic especially the Guinness 0.0. staff always on their toes keeping people served and clearing away. Child friendly, dog friendly people who behave friendly. in 10 odd years this pub is the best it has ever been and I do not think anyone could better it as it is today.

Having been a regular to this pub for 10 years now, and seen many changes. The team here are first class. Fun, and friendly, the camaraderie that flows from the landlady and landlord through to the managers staff the customers is something needed in the pub trade. Other people may think I'm biased but that is why it is my regular with locals who are amazingly accommodating. Cannot fault. Those who negatively think they have a right to park in their carpark and go walking in the woods without asking permission or eating and drinking there should ask what if it was their business would they want a customer parking space taken.

Arrived at the New Inn with high hopes for a lovely pub meal and drinks following a walk around the nearby Shrawley Woods. We arrived to find the manager at the car park who said we needed to pay £3 to park - I don’t begrudge paying but seems a little unfair to charge patrons who are buying food and drink also. We went inside to pay the fee as we only had card and decided to also get a drink before we started our walk. The manager then came up to us whilst we were enjoying our drinks to ask whether we had managed to pay the fee! We would have come back for further drinks and food following our walk but found it to be rude and inhospitable so didn’t bother. As the pub is in a great position for walks it seems a shame to put paying customers off like this as we would have come back and spent another £30-£40 on food and drink had it been more welcoming. A real shame and unfortunately wouldn’t return due to this.

We booked a last minute family meal this evening and we weren’t disappointed! What a beautiful pub, with the friendliest of staff. Mickie, Abbie and Sue are definitely the ‘dream team!’ They couldn’t do enough, bringing drinks over to our table as and when our glasses were empty and generally being very attentive. The food was amazing and great value for money too. The decor inside the pub is very original and quite obviously well thought out and there are some quirky features - the door handles are all spades and some of the lights are made from galvanised buckets. I always think the loos are a good indicator of cleanliness and I can honestly say that the loos are the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a pub!!! Well done to the owners of The New Inn, you have completely turned around what was a tired lifeless pub and made it into a beautiful place to be. And a big well done to Mickie and her team for running such a tight ship! We will most certainly be back and will be recommending it to our friends. We understand that the regular chef is away on holiday at the moment… Well my hubby said Abbie cooked his steak to perfection! 👌🏼👌🏼 Brilliant!!!!

This is a wonderful pub with polite and very helpful staff. Unfortunately the owners have had to implement a parking barrier system to ensure they have spaces available for those using the pub for food and drinks. There is adequate signage for people to understand when the carpark opens which includes a notice on the barrier. Please do not pay any attention to negative reviews as these are generally related to parking issues. In addition some of the reviews are one sided and fail to show the whole truth in order to damage the reputation of the current owners and their wonderful staff. As a regular user of this establishment with our friends we appreciate the various rules in place such as no ball games, no children after 9pm and showing respect for other customers enjoyment. The local users and those from further afield rate this business very highly and are very supportive towards the current owners.

First visit. Lovely welcome and service by Josh. Food was excellent and plentiful. Two meals ordered, lamb burger and scampi. Could not fault meal at all. Good selection of wines. Large carpark. Will certainly be visiting again.

Best breakfast in town. So tasty and so reasonably priced. We love that you can choose your own items and get a breakfast that you create entirely. Staff were so friendly- you can tell they enjoy working there. We will definitely be back.

Had lunch today, what a great place. Food excellent, service impeccable and good attention to detail over allergy choices. Dog friendly in fact can’t fault it. Highly recommended.
