Food good but over priced you need to order extra portions, especially on the Sunday roast where you need to order more vegetables and side orders which makes the meal more expensive

Disappointing! Booked meal for my mother’s 50th birthday at 14:45 to find the place was empty. After being seated we were told many things off the menu wasn’t available and we had till 15:00 (15 mins) to order our food before kitchen closed at 15:00. This was something we wasn’t informed of until arrival! Why let customers book, if not enough time window before kitchen closes… The food was average, no complaints but nothing amazing for a bistro unfortunately. For the service we struggled to get any member of staffs attention as they all seemed to be on a break, as they were all sat around a table chatting. They saw us few times attempt to get there attention to pay the bill, which they ignored. It got to the point we had to go over twice where they were sat to ask AGAIN so we could pay and finally leave. All I’d say is don’t bother booking a table anything after 14:00 as half the menu won’t be available and none of staff will acknowledge you.

We have eaten here several times and it has always been very good. On this occasion the food was lovely but we were let down by poor service. On arriving we sat at a table in the bar. I had to ask for the table to be cleaned as it had not been done the night before. When we went into the dining room we ordered our food then waited over 45 minutes for it to arrive. We were then brought the dessert menus but no-one came to take our orders until I went to find the waitress. We then had to wait so long for the desserts to arrive that one of our party had to go and complain. We then had to find someone to bring our bill. The waitress did apologise for the delay and said that the bar had been particularly busy. It is the first time that I have felt it necessary to ask for the service charge to be removed from the bill.

Been here a few times for dining, each time very noisy restaurant, food ok but some menu items grossly overpriced, Had the Camembert starter at £18.75 so expected a real feast but no a very disappointing and grossly overpriced starter, 4 dining so should of been a straightforward but side order left out, drinks very expensive.....actually overpriced would be a more acurate description, Overpricing will not make up for lack of customers, good service, Food and fair drinks prices would make for a must go to place, 15 quid for a glass of average white wine.....in no rush to go back, there are far better places out there.

Park4Night recommendation. Daytime barman was chatty and friendly. Food was high quality - ribeye steak cooked perfectly rare as requested, and exceptional chocolate brownie dessert. Evening serving ladies were pleasant and accommodating. Cosy enough bar area, with a roaring fire in one room. You can eat in the bar area but there is also another large room set out in a restaurant style, and I feel that The Chequers is aiming for more of a fine dining experience than a cosy country gastropub. I would prefer the latter, especially since the prices reflect the former.

Messaged the restaurant but nobody could be bothered to reply, hence the review. Firstly the food was great, but; We booked the restaurant but were seated in a bar area by the serving hatch. At the end of the meal we were surrounded by groups drinking - apparently this is classed as a bar area but a restaurant area when they’re busy! The service was poor, for example our dessert menus were provided and then we had to ask to order 40mins later. We ended up collecting coffee from the serving hatch! Out of the wine we wanted at £24 but they suggested an alternative; no mention that it was £43 until we saw the bill! Poor attitude from the manager, very ‘take it or leave it’.

Great welcoming village pub with amazing food and a wide selection of draught beer and drinks. I went to the fireworks display, which was fantastic and well-organised. A lot of people attended, but there was ample parking and, as a local, it was very well organised, especially compared to other fireworks displays in the area. Communal fireworks displays like this are a great and safe way to enjoy and celebrate bonfire night. They prevent the need for locals to arrange their own fireworks, which would be less safe and a lot more disruptive. The management do a lot for the local community and Crowle is lucky to have them.

Visited for a family dinner on Saturday. Surprisingly good food, both in quality but also selection. I had the Beef Shin Bon-Bon’s followed by belly pork and both were excellent. Wife had chicken schnitzel, which although tasty, was far too thick to be a traditional schnitzel! Only downside was the main room was quite noisy, so very hard to hear everyone on our table (6 seater bench), which was why atmosphere marked down. Side note…excellent sized car park, but some very deep potholes need filling….lethal in a low slung sports car! 😬

Lucky to be accommodated as a walk in on a sunny Saturday evening, the restaurant was already busy at 6pm. Had several different servers, all of whom were polite and helpful and efficient (although, cycling shorts, really? I know it’s hot work but still) I had the bonbons to start- they were quite dense/large so maybe serve either just 2 instead of 3 or make smaller? Not sure what the bacon bits added to the dish personally. Main special of cod was really tasty - loved the crispy skin and the bisque.

Very busy pub, but should be used to it by now. Apparently not, because the service is very hit-and-miss, with many wait staff very young and apparently poorly trained. Very long wait for food to arrive. Even our order of simple drinks from the bar took 10 minutes to be brought to the table! Dishes are also not cleared away promptly. The food itself was mixed. A cheese souffle starter was excellent, and the cheese board generous (but it would have been nice if the waiter had explained the three cheeses). The Sunday roasts were just ok. The gravy was far too salty, and appeared to be the same for both the roast beef and chicken mains--meaning its flavour overpowered the latter. But the biggest fault was the undercooked and hard roast potatoes--which should be a highlight of any roast dinner. A disappointing visit.

I had the starter of crabcakes which at best was Very bland in flavour served alongside some green leaves with a smattering of mayonnaise. Mains was Roast pork which turned out to be belly draft ( very fatty ) served with cold then reheated possibly deep fried roast potatoes, thin slice of parsnip , carrot , mashed swede, cabbage and peas. All served Luke warm. If this floats your boat then go but expect to be waiting an eternity to get served. Thank you Chequers you spoiled a lovely day.

We were lucky enough to win a three-course meal here as part of the Worcester Foodies Guide advent calendar; we'd heard a lot about The Chequers and couldn't believe we were lucky enough to win! It was a brilliant experience from start to finish; the atmosphere was relaxed but efficient, the staff were friendly and helpful but above all - the food was AMAZING! My husband said his main course of steak was the best steak he's had in this country and from him this is honestly a huge compliment! I had the pan-fried chicken breast, which was cooked beautifully; I'd wondered if it might be a bit dry or bland but this was 100% not the case. And the dauphinoise potatoes were absolutely delicious, they really complemented the whole dish. Our starters and desserts were similarly fantastic. We were pleasantly surprised by how busy it was on a weeknight - which surely shows we can't be the only ones to enjoy great food in a great surrounding. Would we go here again? Yes. At full price? Yes, unquestionably. Can't wait!!

I went to the Chequers for early dinner on a Friday evening (17:45 hours). I was in fact seeing if the quality of the restaurant was suitable for a large family Golden wedding celebration meal later this year. As a lone diner, not all dressed up and deliberately looking a little scruffy, I was also interested how this would impact on the reception and quality of service I received.....never judge a book by its cover! This visit was after I was told early last December that there was no Boxing Day menu, as such. When I asked if it was because they would make it up on the hoof, depending on what they had left in the fridges, freezers and cupboards, they did not deny it! On this, my first visit, I ordered a starter and a main course. I chose the main course of breast of chicken with dauphinoise potatoes as I particularly like dauphinoise potatoes for their decadent creamy consistency and au gratin topping. The amount of the plate of the main course was spartan. The potatoes I was served bore no resemblance to dauphinoise, instead it was a rather solid brick like structure with no cream in sight and as dry as a bone. I asked one of the waitresses to check that I had not misread the menu and also to ask the chef what the potato dish was supposed to be. The waitress came back and passed on rather embarrassingly, what I take it were the chefs comments, that "they are dauphinoise potatoes but the cream has been drained off"! I then asked to speak with the restaurant supervisor, who stated he had been a witness to the chefs response.....and that "they were cooked in cream but that we don't make them too creamy". It is obvious by looking at me that I was not born yesterday. Neither did I order a healthy dose of BS, as far as I recall. However, that is what I got. Obviously this restaurant is looking to cut corners to save money, when their pricing demands that they serve correctly cooked and generous fayre. Maybe there is a moratorium on creamy dishes at the Chequers. If the restaurant supervisor had been customer focussed and acknowledged the poor quality, with a decent dauphinoise potato dish or an appropriate discount off the main course, then I would have accepted that as a compromise. But no, he tried to blag his way out of it. This is the biggest red flag of all. How a restaurant deals with dissatisfied customers, to ensure they are properly acknowledged and their future custom is retained is the biggest indicator of quality customer service. That the Chequers doesn't seem to have responded to any other negative reviews is a indicator of their lack of ownership of a quality experience by all of their customers. The whole thing left a very bitter taste in the mouth. A bit of an own goal for the Chequers, methinks.

The Sunday menu is really disappointing compared to the regular menu, I wasn't aware the normal menu was not available. Limited on options and some of the menu was not as printed for example the sausage roll was different and made with cranberry which was different to the one printed. I chose the quiche as an alternative starter and this was tiny, hot in places and cold in some. The main lamb was barely warm and served on a bed of leeks not as advertised. The potatoes were hard and cold like they'd been left all day and the parsnips and carrots so hard I couldn't cut into them. The pigs in blankets were completely burnt. This is absolutely not the usual standard and my first review of Chequers which is poor. I'm a regular so even more annoyed as this was a total waste of money. Also in the bar was a group of rowdy men sat in the booth next to us and watching football on an iPad. Hardly the atmosphere for Sunday lunch.

Visited Chequers at Crowle 30th November for a family meal. the restaurant was very smart and had a nice feel also quiet enough to be able to have good conversation. We had been recomened to Chequers, and although we new it was fairly expensive, two of the meals - the most expensive on menu - really let the evening down. Both fillet steaks were quite tough, although well cooked to medium rare didn't come anywhere near to a quality steak experience. Most expensive meal we've had for many years, (£37) so had high expectations. Can only say very disappointing. The other three meals were well received and enjoyed. Steve

At £37 for a 7oz fillet steak you would expect a really good steak but we both had chewy tough steaks that were tasteless and cold in the middle. Obviously cooked straight from the fridge. The pork belly was very good but it was more like a starter than a main. Very meagre. Water was in a fancy bottle but was at room temperature and all of the drinks were on the expensive side. The cheese board was ok but it should have been much better for £12.50. Poor to average food at rip off prices.

The best meal I’ve had out in a long time. We came here on a Saturday evening and we couldn’t get over how good every course was. We shared the duck rilettes with toast and chutney, followed by the pork belly and roast crown of pheasant. The pork was beautifully cooked, crispy and succulent. The pheasant was also cooked perfectly and both dishes served with a good selection of seasonal vegetables. For desserts we had the carrot cake Swiss roll with caramel sauce and the vanilla panna cotta. These were a super end to a lovely evening. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back for more.

Great firework event last night. Really well organised. Service terrific and coped well with large number of people. Burgers were awesome and really should be added to the regular restaurant menu. We are locals and visit Chequers every week and regularly eat there. Very lucky...

Onion rings batter was a revelation rosemary and sea salt (1 minute too long in fryer for my teeth but still quality) skin on fries hot and tasty, bar staff friendly and all busy doing tasks even though a quiet evening showing dedication to role, atmosphere warm and inviting, beer garden quality chairs and views, wish it was nearer to home

Another family meal and drinks. After Friday’s experience, we all decided to come back. Different staff looked after us this time and yet we were treated well. Thank you to Tom who looked after us this time. Attentive team at all times. Happy to explain...

From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel at home. Wonderfully friendly people run this place. Food was well cooked and piping hot and delicious. Their cheesy cheesy chips are definitely some of the finest I’ve ever eaten. And the coffee was beautifully made. Loved the real fire too. Will definitely be coming back ❤️

Best breakfast in town. So tasty and so reasonably priced. We love that you can choose your own items and get a breakfast that you create entirely. Staff were so friendly- you can tell they enjoy working there. We will definitely be back.
