Nice pub. The food was amazing. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Not too expensive either. Will definitely go back.

Could've easily been 5 stars as the food and service was great but we were a bit disgruntled as we'd asked for a round table and were sat on a small rectangular one. This wouldn't have typically been an issue but just 2 people we sat on the table we'd asked for and the 4 of us we put on a smaller table which didn't make sense. On a positive note, the Sunday lunches were lovely and we got crispy roasties as requested! Sticky toffee pudding was to die for too!

Truly, some of the best food my family have had and the service is impeccable

The pub is a lovely traditional pub with a cozy feel to it. Unfortunately, our lunch experience did not meet our expectations on any level. Initial service was ok. However, we struggled to find anything on the menu that we liked the sound of. It is almost as if they are trying to be too clever with the ingredients. Most of the table opted for the burger which after a few mouthfuls appeared to be off. All 3 sent their meals back and were so put off that they didn’t want to order anything else. My chicken salad was one of the weirdest meals I have ever had. The chargrilled chicken tasted burnt, the lettuce was cooked and garnished with pickled dates and about 25 olives 🫒 really strange and not enjoyable. At this point it seemed pointless to complain about my meal too. Whilst they did take the burgers off the bill, we were all left feeling like we had been an annoyance to them and there was no real apology either. Mistakes happen, we get that. But the way you make up for those mistakes is key. All it would have taken is a genuine apology. Needless to say we won’t be going back in a hurry.

February 2024 update: the food is still absolutely awesome! But I did miss the apple crumble 😋 September 2023 update: yep, still top class 🤩 April 2023 update: still top class food! The specials board was amazing tonight (Chilli Beef starter - hmmm 🤩) 🎉 It was my second visit here in the last two weeks, and I can safely say it's my favourite place 💯 to eat in this neck of the woods. The service is top notch, friendly and welcoming. The food is great, tasty, and at a very reasonable price. Tonight I had a diet coke, white coffee ☕ veggie lasagne and a side of seasonal veggies for just over £22, absolutely hit the spot after a long day at work! Pukka 🤩 Good access in and out of the pub, plenty of seating, nice and warm 🔥 and a great ambience within. I had food here on the weekend and I have got to say I wasn't that impressed the service wasn't very good rhe lads sisnt check on tables and made people wait a while before they cleared a table ir offered a sweet me u or even to see if we ir people want more drinks. The food was okay the hake made the creamy sauce watery so it disnt have much taste to it and we disnt get asked if the food was okay or if we wanted anymore drinks we had to wait ages to catch the waiter's eyes to ask for more drinks. And for the bill we also had to wait ages to catch the waiter's eyes or if we said excuse me we wernr heard. We ened up getting fed up of waiting so we went r5o the bar ro pay.

Took the family for a celebration meal, not the usual high standards that we have experienced....nothing that I would formally complain about but the quality had dropped hence the feedback...burger buns were soaking wet in tomato juice and destroyed when trying to handle them and the burgers seemed thick and very dry compared to the previous ones we have had.

We had a lovely family dinner, the atmosphere of dining area had a warm and friendly gastro pub vibe, and all the service from the team was fantastic. The most exceptional part of our evening was the food. We were presented with a deliciously innovative menu, as well as a separate specials board. All of the food we had was delicious, but the highlights were the lamb tikka Scotch egg with a Masala sauce, the duo of pork lion/belly, and the bead and butter pudding. My partner and I have eaten at some of the best gastro pubs and restaurants in London, the food here more than stands up with any of them. We will definitely come again whenever we’re in the area visiting family.

Excellent seasonal Sunday lunch with variety of meat fish or veg options on menu beautifully cooked and presented by friendly staff with option of indoor or outdoor dining. Love this place

What can I say about Chequers, the staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful, the food was amazing, we ordered the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection, the desert was delicious and the place was cosy, we have found a place we will visit as often as possible.

Our food was really lovely. Beautifully presented and we both enjoyed our courses. Unfortunately the young man that served our table was extremely rude. Our first visit here was ruined by his unconscious bias about us. We left feeling awkward and embarrassed. Very sad that in 2023, his preconceived ideas were so obvious. I would like to have visited again to sample something else from the menu but I will never put myself in that position again. What a shame that 1 member of a team can ruin all the good work that the rest do.

My wife and I and 4 friends meet there for lunch every month if we can and always have a wonderful afternoon. The food is top class and the staff are brilliant. I always look forward to going there and have never been disappointed.

Amazing place for lunch. Food was brilliant. Service was beyond excellent - they dealt with our coeliac member of the group absolutely perfectly. Supplied separate menu and checked regularly that everything was OK. The atmosphere was just right, bubbly but not loud. Couldn't recommend it more completely.

Excellent food and service. Waiting staff efficient, accurate and friendly and didn't get pestered at all asking 'is everything OK?' Draught ale just perfect temperature, food (one vegetarian dish, one special bass risoto) was excellent. Also nice to see affogato on the menu to finish with excellent quality espresso. All very good. Not cheap but well worth the price.

When an establishment is busy it usually signifies that it is a good place to eat and it was, my only issue was the menu was limited for my needs but that's my problem not the venue's

We have been going to this pub for quite a number of years, especially for the Sunday lunch, as it was the best in the whole of Worcestershire and the West Midlands. We visited again for a family birthday celebration on Sunday 23rd September only to find the pub had changed hands last year. The service was fantastic but the lunch was just not what it used to be, the beef was not rare as per the menu and the roast potatoes seemed to be frozen or reheated. There were no mashed potatoes (and these used to be out of this world) and the whole lunch whilst tasty was missing that wow factor. Shame but I'm afraid we won't be going back anytime soon.

Love this place. Without doubt one of if not the best gastro pub I have used. Great food, welcoming people and they allow dogs. Smashing place. Have been eating here for 5 years. I have never once left unsatisfied. The prices are great considering the quality of food. These people cook fresh and they really know how to cook.

All 8 of us had fab food all had different so a good variety off the menu . Service was with a smile checked on us for drinks etc looked after us well thank you

We popped in for a drink with friends, nice friendly staff Beers were nice.

Lovely place and the food was outstanding. I had the chick, ham and leek pie and although when it appeared it looked on the small side, the taste was amazing and it was really filling. Veg was excellent too. Drinks were good. Staff were very good, however, they did lose our initial order do we had to reorder but it came very quickly and they took our initial drinks order off the bill. Great customer service in my book. A lovely evening and we will definitely go again.

Everything about this restaurant was amazing. Excellent polite servers, great choice of beverages and the food was delicious. We had the hake Kiev and meatballs special to start and both had the monkfish and prawn special for mains and chocolate torte for dessert. Every course was a delight for the palate. Highly recommend.

Genuinely the best full breakfast I have had, the service was absolutely first class, a definite visit again place, try it you won't be disappointed! Returned some while since last visit for light bite to eat and the food is amazing sweet corn fritters to die for.

We arranged to meet our friends at The Chequers, for some lunch. We had a very warm welcome and the atmosphere was brilliant. We ordered our food and drinks and everything came very quickly. We all thought the experience and the food, warranted another visit. So once we settled in to our holiday rental at Rushock, we all decided to go again one evening for dinner. So we booked and went a few days later. Again the service, welcome and food was great. Would certainly go back, if we return to the area.

Had a lovely lunch of vegetarian lasagne and fish and chips. Huge portion of fish which was delicious. Two pots of tea. Good, friendly and quick table service. We arrived early on a Friday at about 12.15 without having booked and there were plenty of options for tables to sit at. I forgot the receipt for this one but it totalled around £35.

2nd visit and food cooked just as good as the first. Meals cooked faultlessly, good job as no check back after food was presented. This would have been 5 stars if not for the lack of enthusiasm for a table of 2 dining as opposed to the 4/5 tables of 4+ who were clearly spending much more than our £100 bill

Food was absolutely stunning! Great atmosphere, very relaxed and enjoyable. Service was good, although a little too keen to take orders and kept returning every 2 mins to speed us up. I understand the table may have been booked for someone else a bit later on but just a little more time to settle into the evening would be great 👍

Had Sunday lunch here today and it was our first ever visit but certainly will not be our last. Excellent menu with great choices, I went for the scotch egg starter and my wife had the prawn cocktail and we both went for the roast beef. All cooked perfectly with plenty of veg and the best gravy I've had in a long time. We normally have Sunday lunch at brockencote hall and this was definitely on a par for half the price! Although we were full the dessert menu was so enticing we went for a sticky toffee pudding and a choice of ice creams, again absolutely delicious. A major tick was the service, which was swift, polite and very attentive without being overbearing. I honestly cannot think of a negative and must congratulate the owners and also the staff at running a great traditional country eatery. Can't wait for our next visit. Well done 👏👏

We visited for a family lunch on a Sunday. The roast beef was the closest thing I’ve had to my Mum’s Sunday roast… and hers is the best!! So that’s high praise. The Yorkshire puddings are delicious and the cauliflower cheese is a ‘must have’ side dish. Great service from friendly, knowledgeable staff. Fantastic visit! Thank you.

Superb customer service so rare these days..we were made to feel incredibly welcome and they accomodated us for food with no booking. They also made our little collie welcome so thank you guys...The food was delicious and the Pinot Grigiot the best I've ever had!

Unfortunately, something has changed since we were here 2-3 years ago. My dinner was too salty and the potatoes undercooked. The portion of fish was very small. Luckily, the staff behaved in a professional way and I didn't have to pay for my order. The place is nice and has potential, but the food was below average. Stopped here for lunch while in the area. The pub is really nice and warm inside. Food choice is good. We had a scotch egg for starter which was very nicely prepared. Main was gammon, eggs and chips. Never order it but I was curious to try a gourmet version. The quality of the ingredients was high, it was also nicely cooked. Gammon had the right level of saltiness and it was a thick slice, a little on the small side. Service was attentive and efficient.

Wonderful service, delicious food in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The chicken pie came with plenty of mash and seasonal vegetables. The gravy was particularly tasty! The menu had lots of appealing attributes and was explained to us by the staff in great detail - we will definitely be returning for their Christmas menu!

Not one to ever bother leaving a review, but I'm shocked at how poor our meal today was. We had a Sunday roast (£15.50 for chicken), which was essentially the tiniest portion of chicken, a yorkshire pudding, a ball of stuffing and one roast potato (though some of us didn't even have that). The 'additional veg' came out and it was one ridiculously shallow dish of peas/cabbage and one tiny dish of sweed or butternut squash (I don't know what it was because there wasn't enough to go around) between SIX of us! Really disappointing considering the enormous bill at the end. Despite the beautiful interior and nice service, this price for that amount of food (especially in the current climate) was shocking to say the least and we won't ever be returning.

We met up for a large family meal - around 24 of us! The roast was fantastic - Yorkshire puddings to die for! Great choice of veg. and the service was really impressive given that there were so many of us…. And the biscoff cheesecake...
