This is a stop off most mornings after dropping the Partner off at work. 5 minute walk from the main carparks in wednesfield behind the town centre. Always friendly staff, good hot pasties, pizza, bacon rolls and most other Gregg's items. Coffee is always good and fresh and hot. Outside chairs and tables close to all other shops and chemists . Best cafe in wednesfield, not to be missed

Another fantastic BCA pub and contender for top honours. Keeps and serves real ales spot on from micro to almost mass produced breweries. Soon as i seen a Stout on, had to have being the best pint had in last 4 months.

My anniversary dinner at your restaurant was a complete disappointment and a waste of time and money. I ordered spicy chicken but received a sweet dish instead. The ladyfinger was undercooked and inedible. The only decent items were the naan and Coca-Cola. On top of that, the bill was outrageously high for such poor quality food and service. This experience was unacceptable, and I expect better from your establishment.

Love the food although the chips are not as good as they used to be.

Booked a table arrived on time , there were 3 other diners waiting to be seen to , infront of us. Waited ten mins before anyone came to us. The guys infront were pointed to a table and off they went. She asked our name, stared at the screen , asked again stared at the screen , “oh we don’t have a booking in that name” how many is it for ? What’s the name ? More staring at screen “oh found you “ pointed at a table. We got to the table there was a woman standing at it saying she was waiting for a ramp for her disabled son to get him up the steps. Found another member of staff, back to the iPad “ what’s the name? 3 times oh I carnt find a booking in that name ? Original staff member came over “I have found a table for you !!! 20 minutes of this. In the meantime we watched the lady and her friend struggle with the guy in the wheelchair up the ramp . Staff stood and watched ? Our table was on ground level at the back why could they have not given the lady with the wheelchair that one we could have walked up 3 steps Seated we ordered drinks on the app while looking at the menu, ordered the meal via the app sat talking 20 minutes before the drinks arrived 3 mins before the food. I had the steak and chicken strips fondue, my friends had the mixed grill food was nice apart from the sausages being hard ? And my fondue bit the cottage loaf they put the cheese sauce in was freezing cold. No good putting a hot dipping sauce in a cold loaf and the loaf wasn’t hollowed out enough so you only get a thin layer of now cold cheese sauce. That needs sorting , great idea badly executed. Also 2 out of the 3 meals arrived then a ten min wait for the third. Strangely another mixed grill . My friend finished their meal before me no sooner had they placed their knife and forks down a member of staff leaned over me to remove their plates, I was still eating RUDE !!! At least wait till everyone had finished. I don’t expect a 5* dining experience in a pub I do expect the waiting staff to have manners . A member of staff walked over halfway through banged a wine advertisement card on the table asked if the meal was ok but before we could answer turned her back and was off. Like a hit and run, we would normally order a few more drinks after the meal but decided we had had enough and left. A member of staff did say “ thank you have a nice night as we were leaving” we though we will now we are leaving. Macdonalds has better service than this place. Note to management !! Back and front of house need to gel to make it a good experience for paying customers. And that starts with good communication and training. Would not take much to make this pub an enjoyable place to visit,

The Red Lion, Wolverhampton. Un nom comme un blason, comme un chapitre obligatoire dans tout village, toute ville anglaise. Il y en a des dizaines, des centaines même, à travers le pays. Mais celui-ci, niché au cœur d’une ville que le vent traverse comme un passant pressé, possède une âme que le temps a poli plutôt que ternie. On le repère de loin, ce lion rouge peint sur fond d’ardoise, ses lettres dorées usées par les pluies, ses fenêtres à petits carreaux embuées dès le crépuscule. Et quand on pousse la porte, ce n’est pas un lieu qu’on découvre : c’est un monde parallèle. L’odeur d’ale, de cuir vieilli, de feu discret. Les rires étouffés. Le craquement du parquet. Ce pub n’est pas une curiosité touristique — il est le salon du quartier, le prolongement d’un quotidien robuste, celui des gens de Wolverhampton, travailleurs, discrets, fidèles. Le bar est en bois sombre, patiné par des milliers de pintes posées et reprises. Derrière, le barman connaît les visages. Il sait qui boit quoi, à quelle heure, et comment. Une IPA locale, tirée lentement, mousse rase. Une bitter ambrée, à peine fraîche, servie avec un clin d’œil complice. Quelques whiskys alignés comme des officiers. Rien d’ostentatoire ici, rien de bruyant. Le Red Lion ne séduit pas : il accueille. On s’installe dans un coin, près du radiateur, ou au bord de la fenêtre si on est seul, pour regarder les gouttes glisser sur la vitre. À certaines heures, c’est presque vide : deux retraités jouent aux fléchettes, un homme lit le Telegraph, un chien dort près du poêle. Puis viennent les travailleurs en gilet fluorescent, les rires montent, les tables se remplissent. Et toujours cette ambiance de chaleur contenue, de vie qui circule sans débordement. Un pub anglais, c’est un équilibre : entre silence et partage, entre bière et parole. Certains soirs, un groupe local s’installe dans un coin, sans scène. Un violon, une guitare, une voix rauque. Les chansons parlent de mines, de mer, de misère, d’amour perdu dans la brume. Et tout le monde écoute, doucement. Ici, la nostalgie n’est pas un mal, c’est un lien. On boit, on écoute, on approuve d’un hochement de tête. Les plats servis sont simples, solides. Fish & chips croustillant, purée et saucisses nappées de gravy, steak pie brûlante sous sa croûte. On ne vient pas ici pour découvrir la gastronomie anglaise : on vient pour retrouver un goût qu’on connaît déjà, un goût d’enfance, ou de fidélité. En sortant, la nuit anglaise vous enveloppe. L’air est humide, la ville dort à moitié. Mais vous repartez avec une chaleur sourde au creux du ventre, celle qu’on ne trouve que dans certains lieux — des lieux où l’on n’est pas un client, mais un humain de passage, respecté, reconnu, à sa place.

Food and service was absolutely phenomenal. Served by a lovely gentleman called Matt. Would recommend this place highly.

Booked on Saturday online got there no booking but let us in as a walking. Food not good no peppercorn sauces asked 3 times came when meal almost eaten and sauce was cold and like water. Salad missing from one meal asked got bowl limp lettuce. Curry meal the rice was not cooked nan bread burnt hard. Chips were home cooked but most were hard not cooked. Very disappointed 6 meals and not one meal was good. No steak knife offered. No one even asked how meal was. And listening to other people nearby their experience was no better.

First order from here and the food was really good. Mixed grill was lovely quality and piping hot.

just had takeaway shekb was like rubber as was the chicken tika starter like it had been there for a long time

Very disappointed in the service here, came here about 9 and as soon as we entered the manager started to shake his head and we got told to leave, after asking to leave he asked for id and still said no when it was providable, the bar doesn’t close until 9:25, very disappointed with this service as customers even agreed with me and my company.

Never had a bad Drink or Meal and quality of both are good
