Amazing food and cakes (including vegan options). Great staff very friendly and helpful. Dog and walker friendly. Loads of little crafted souvenirs to buy, lots made by Julie. Great little find. Would definitely return.

Brilliant after a long walk. Sausage rolls great! Ice cream great. Ate them while watching the ducks. Always great. Lovely place.

Arrived thirsty at 15.30 on a hot Friday afternoon only to find 15 people waiting for the pub to open. After one guy knocked on the door we were told this pub does not open till 16.00 and the door closed again 🤔😳. Half the people moved on to find somewhere else to buy a pint

We arrived with some sort of party going on at 4.00pm; lots of guys in fancy dress. I asked a lady if it was a private party or could we have a drink. We stood at the bar . . . stood at the bar with no-one acknowledging us. Plenty of seated customers with their drinks, with one suited gentleman just staring at us. Barking, loose pub dog barking at everyone . . . and then a coach arrived and piled in. I couldn’t get out quickly enough. My husband wanted to take me as he thinks it’s quirky and an experience; whilst the outside is a beautiful old building, it’s not for me. I do not want to dine or drink amongst motorcycles, dusty antiques and what I found to be a strange, uncomfortable environment so I won’t be returning.

Well placed for Dovedale stepping stones walk with great views. Excellent food, but lacks a service culture. Rooms are beginning to look a little tired. Be aware they no longer have EV charging. Patchy wifi and limited mobile phone reception.

Food and service were pleasant enough, but this is not a two rosette restaurant. The AA person must have been on something when they rated this restaurant. The restaurant is basically a corridor for members of staff and the public, they just wander through it's laughable, at one point the manager walked through with an iron and an ironing board under his arm!

Amazing food, staff were incredibly friendly and it had a great atmosphere. Dog friendly. I had the sea food platter which was delicious.

Lovely old fashioned pub with nice staff & an excellent Sunday lunch which was just what we needed after a hike. Friendly staff, clean, secure parking for the camper. Highly recommend this place and in the right spot.

Poor meal,overcooked and dry chicken,supposed to be filled with brie but it was so overcooked the cheese had all but disappeared! Roast potatoes were rock hard and veg was tasteless! Certainly cant recommend eating at this place.On a lighter note the pub was nice and warm and the staff quite good.

Lovely afternoon tea, sandwiches were really fresh and good choice of cakes too. Had a Buyagift voucher to use and chose the Dog and Partridge as it was on our way back from a long weekend in the Peak District. Staff very friendly and welcoming too.

Great little pub. Owners are very friendly and a good choice of beer . Lovely pub cat Will definately be visiting again soon
