Lovely warm tearoom with friendly and welcoming owners. Food was excellent (full English and homemade soup with a ham and tomato sandwich). A large pot of tea with plenty of milk and extra hot water. Good choice of cakes and the chocolate cake was delicious. It is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Cash only Dog friendly - we noticed they even provide mats for the dogs to lie on ☺️

We were looking for somewhere to have breakfast and what a find! The sausages were great and the bacon cooked to perfection. And not to mention the largest pot of tea for three people I’d ever seen, along with not hot water and another tea bag! Fantastic value for money and an absolute gem of a cafe.

An absolutely fantastic place for tea, coffee, cakes (to die for!) and sandwiches. There were other selections on the menu and based on what we ordered and ate I would imagine that they are first class too. We were served generous pots of tea with extra pots of boiling water and tea bags to top up (big gold star from me as an avid tea drinker), cafetières of delicious coffee with plenty of milk on the side, incredibly generous slices (more like slabs!) of freshly home-baked cakes of the highest quality and tastiness. Some of our party had cheesy scones still warm from the oven and I shared a chicken stuffing sandwich fragrant with herbs on the freshest of bread. All in all the perfect spot for refreshing our weary party after a long yomp in the glorious surrounding countryside. The Old School is a delightfully historic little building, very comfortable with plenty of space for couples, families or small groups. Highly recommended with a lovely friendly host - the cake baker I believe!

Had a birthday drive out and in particular to visit this cute Tea Room hidden next to the church. Waited to be seated, receiving a warm, friendly welcome from the lady. Had a beautiful hot breakfast which was served swiftly with every item on my plate having it's flavours. Tea in china cups tastes so much better than the big chunky croc ones in others cafes. We couldn't decide from the choice of homemade cakes so came away with four different slices. Excellent prices. A table of homemade items and retro things you could buy in the windowsills. When in the area, would definately visit again. Very efficient service and very clean. Its a shame though that walkers that we're not customers of the cafe were ignoring the sign not to use the tea room toilet as they were for customers only. There are public toilets around the corner by the big carpark, use those and respect the volunteers at this cafe.

This tea room is a hidden gem. It is set in a very unassuming former school and it retains all of its character and charm. This is our third visit to this tea room over the past year or two. And it has consistently impressed us. The hot baguettes are beautiful and excellent value for money. The cream tea is also incredible. The scones are possibly the best I have eaten, and clearly homemade. The selection of homemade cakes to eat in or take away is excellent, and the lady who serves you can’t do enough for you. She is so efficient, and the place is spotlessly clean. I thoroughly recommend this place after a nice walk in the local area of Wetton.

Popped in at lunchtime after a muddy hike with our 2 dogs. Lovely, friendly lady greeted us. Plenty of seating (it's a village hall). They've thought of everything- was welcomed to use some large cushions for dogs to rest on, plus dog treats. Fabulous, home-cooked food, served quickly and in generous portions at a very reasonable price. We had nut roast and broccoli & stilton quiche, both with peas and new potatoes. These were £7 - £8 and set us up for the day. Bought some cake to take away, £2.50 for massive slice. All cakes baked by lady who served us. There were a few handmade things for sale on tables and windowsills and we bought a couple of Christmas decorations. Asked for directions so we could complete a circular walk and was provided with little slip of printed instructions. Absolutely can't fault this place!

We have visited here twice. On both occasions we planned walks specifically so we could visit this terrific tearoom. Service is super friendly. Food and drinks represent excellent value for money. Today we had brilliant tasty breakfasts followed by beautiful home made cakes from a great selection. Being in the old school, the tearoom is really quaint and something a little bit different - it makes for a great atmosphere. Parking available outside although we were walking. Very highly recommended! We will be visiting again!

A group of family and friends went to the old School Tea Room and despite being before it was due to close were met by a very rude and inhospitable gentleman. The lady came and did say we could go inside (we did offer to eat and drink outside) and she really tried hard to make up for the dreadful attitude of the gentleman. In fact he actually turned his back on us when trying to engage in conversation. We absolutely understand that it was getting towards closing time but his attitude ruined our afternoon.,..we had all looked forward to some cake and a drink but didn’t bother ordering cake as we just felt unwelcome and that we would have to rush eating and thereby spoil the enjoyment. He really didn’t need to be so rude to us and it certainly would put us off from going back.

We popped in for a late light lunch on a fairly dismal day, following a walk. The food is excellent, all home made and home cooked, and an interesting and varied menu. My coeliac friend was spoilt for choice with the special gluten free menu, and thoroughly enjoyed her ploughman's lunch. I had soup with a cheese scone. Yummy! And a large pot of tea, with a pot of hot water and an extra tea bag for topping up. It's this attention to detail that makes all the difference.

Wonderful place to stop on a walk or bike ride. Simple great value food and a really warm welcome. They even provide a bed and treats for your dog. Very tasty soup and scones, and plenty of tea served in china cups. Definitely planning more trips around the area!

What a lovely place! It's located in the old school which has loads of interesting old photos and posters on the walls but the food is not old fashioned at all. It's wonderful, homemade baking at it's best, served by very friendly people.

Called in for an early lunch on a weekday. At 1215 we were the only customers. The service was very friendly and our food was delivered quickly. Three different meals including an all day breakfast and all were well received. My cafetiere of coffee was as good as I've had anywhere. All good value.

This Tea Room is a gem. Great food ( all home made), lovely friendly service from Ian and Julie. Specials listed each day as well as their standard menu. The All Day Breakfast is highly recommended and a firm favourite with all who try it.

Came upon this gem quite by chance after having walked up from the Manifold Trail to have lunch in the nearby pub which for some reason was closed.

We visited these tea room after a lovely walk through the Manifold Valley. There were lots of tempting savoury snacks and meals on the menu but we had tea and cake. The apricot and orange cake was to die for. It was a generous pot of tea with a spare tea bag and extra hot water. All served on pretty china cups and saucers. Friendly, pleasant service. And spotlessly clean loos!

Unfortunately there are no longer any free-from offerings. It's such a shame as my family used to really enjoy cakes from here. Many successful eateries just don't label their products vegan or gluten-free and they sell really well. Those of us with dietary requirements will ask what's suitable for us anyway...offering one free-from GF option shouldn't be too hard in 2022.

Discovered by chance when looking for a lunch venue. I really enjoyed the soup and cheese scone and my partner was very impressed with the quiche. The china crockery is really lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful.
