Good food, but the pub is a bit rough round the edges

Came here for breakfast, quick service and staff were very welcoming and friendly. I had the ‘big one’ breakfast which I really enjoyed. Beautiful coffee too. Will definitely return.

Sunday lunch, we've been here a few times and was really looking forward to our Sunday roast. Unfortunately to our disappointment, my two slices of pork loin were raw in parts. They took it back with apologies. When they brought it back, you could see where the chef had slid it of the plate, the gravy was over the one side, it looked very messy. We ended up with a side plate which was full of the fat from the pork, very little meat on it. Luckily my husband had the chicken and shared it with me. Overall the complete meal was not to its usual standard.

Booked table for 7pm we're seated at 6.55. Received starter after quite a wait, it was OK. Waited till 8.20pm for main. We're about to walk at 8.30pm. I had sea bass, tasted like it had been left on hot plate since we ordered. Husband ordered his steak, he said was good, however couldn't eat last piece, as too rare, his veg were cold. Sorry really not good enough, very disappointed. Also needs a renovation, too dated, too dark. Need to to your game sorry, my thoughts are you've had it too good for too long, might be getting complacent. Won't be returning.

¿Qué ha pasado con este maravilloso pub, sus bebidas y comida totalmente shambolic limitada debido a la escasez de suministros que se compran. El personal que se va todo el tiempo. el personal nuevo no está siendo entrenado en servicio al cliente. ¡Los nuevos propietarios no tienen ni idea de cómo dirigir un pub de campo lo usaron durante años con varios propietarios diferentes sin problemas hasta ahora! ¡Tienen que pasárselo a alguien que se preocupe!

ITS NOT CLOSED! Visited the cafe after completing a walk along the Railway Walk to Awbridge. It’s had an upgrade and the Harry Potter theme has been replaced with some attractive refurbishment. Great food and pleasant service.

Ten of us went from a friendship group, only a couple of other people there, so no atmosphere. Ordered meals and Drinks, one was even asked if they wanted egg or pineapple with their gammon. The meals were nice and hot but not what we ordered. No eggs, no tomatoes, no peas. Everything was substituted by tomatoless salad, not even an egg and was substituted with the pineapple which had been offered. I asked what real ale have you got. Only Banks Bitter which I had, it tasted like vinegar which they had back and with nothing else to drink. Did not want anything else but was not offered a refund. We were on a recce for our Christmas dinner, but will give this one a miss. NB Not all the meals are listed for me to include in the post

Having dined here many times before without any issues, we did not feel yesterday would be any different. However the service was abysmal. It was extremely slow and unprofessional, without going into details has there been a change of management or staff? Regrettably we had to walk out after one hour and forty minutes having only had our starters. This needs to be sorted quickly, staff were congregated behind the bar with tables full of finished dirty plates. I feel we won't be in a rush to return which is Regrettable.
