Good food, but the pub is a bit rough round the edges

Can't thank Martyn and his team enough for hosting my baby shower, he was so helpful with setting up and then the food and service on the day was amazing!

Atmosphere was lovely, food was great and Laura was super amazing, filled with energy and ensure everyone was fed and happy with their meal. Thank you Laura, we love and appreciate your service.

We had booked a table for 7 at 6pm yesterday, when we arrived we were seated at a table on the left hand side of the restaurant, when we looked at the menu's we were quite shocked to find they had changed and were very limited, only 1 steak choice and unless you liked pasta or fish then then choice wasn't great. When we ordered our drinks it became apparent that our table had a woble it wasn't a small woble the baby's drink that was on it completely tip over so we asked one of the young waitresses if we could move and was told she had to ask, when our drinks came we were told we couldn't move due to the restaurant being fully booked, at the time there was only 1 other table of 3 guests, we were left little choice but to leave, on previous visits we had seen other people complaining about this table and were moved so it is obviously an on going issue, absolutely disgusted with the lack of help and that who ever was in charge did not try to come and sort the situation but left it to the young girls. So annoyed that we have used this place lots previously as we never had any problems previously but we will not be returning.

Por dónde empezar... el lugar se ve igual, lo cual no es malo. Me sorprendió lo ocupado que estaba para el almuerzo del domingo que pensé que debía ser una buena señal y de hecho la comida era abundante. La cena de asado tenía un montón de verduras de invierno encantadoras, asados y yorkies, pero la carne era dura y masticable, lo que fue una pena. Me cobraron por una comida extra por alguna extraña razón ya que pedí dos con un miembro del personal y mi amigo pidió dos con otro. Para ser justos, me preguntaron si me gustaría un reembolso! No hay postres en oferta y en cuanto a bebidas; gran lugar para la sociedad de la templanza como el bar era terrible. En realidad teníamos agua con nuestra comida, ya que había tan poca elección de bebidas alcohólicas. Quiero ser amable con el personal, ya que trabajan duro y no es su culpa que sean demasiado jóvenes para servir bar. No me gusta que me llamen cariño en el mejor de los casos, pero especialmente por alguien décadas más joven que yo. Es sólo a mí a quien conozco. Es un mal plan de negocios tener un pub y no tener un bar lleno. Este pub ha sido el corazón de las comunidades circundantes durante décadas y ahora parece que va a caer en el suelo. No volveré hasta que las cosas se pongan feas.

Friendly good beer and sports on the box

Sunday lunch absolutely delicious, great food, portions and price. The best lunch out I think I've ever had, the pork platter share starter was beautiful and unusual. Will definitely be returning thankyou ! Only one small mention NOT about food but it was alittle nip, although very cold out

ITS NOT CLOSED! Visited the cafe after completing a walk along the Railway Walk to Awbridge. It’s had an upgrade and the Harry Potter theme has been replaced with some attractive refurbishment. Great food and pleasant service.

Absolutely fantastic food, really helpful staff & just a lovely place to enjoy some time with the family. Will definitely return on a regular basis 😁

Ten of us went from a friendship group, only a couple of other people there, so no atmosphere. Ordered meals and Drinks, one was even asked if they wanted egg or pineapple with their gammon. The meals were nice and hot but not what we ordered. No eggs, no tomatoes, no peas. Everything was substituted by tomatoless salad, not even an egg and was substituted with the pineapple which had been offered. I asked what real ale have you got. Only Banks Bitter which I had, it tasted like vinegar which they had back and with nothing else to drink. Did not want anything else but was not offered a refund. We were on a recce for our Christmas dinner, but will give this one a miss. NB Not all the meals are listed for me to include in the post

Fantastic service from Scarlett and the team! I was served promptly at the bar (despite being quite busy for a Wednesday). My friend and I both ordered steak & chips which were cooked perfectly, compliments to the chef! Special shout out to Scarlett, who was really kind and a credit to the establishment! It's not often that I come to the Oak, but will definitely be visiting again soon as the customer service, food quality and atmosphere was 10/10! Kind Regards Sachin Sharma
