We visited The Greyhound on a Saturday evening for a meal. This was our first visit after moving into the local area. We love the pub! The menu has something for everyone, there were plenty of staff who looked after us really well. There was a good atmosphere with people of all ages. We will defiantly go back and will recommend to family and friends.

We visit most Sundays. The staff, the food and the atmosphere can’t be beaten. Highly recommend. Great vegetarian options too. Great location too, on the outskirts of the City in a country Lane. Great for cosy drinks.

Had a lovely Sunday Lunch, my wife is a wheel chair user which was easily accommodated. The total experience was superb, with the staff going the extra to ensure we were fully comfortable & had everything we needed. The food & service was top quality with plenty of everything from a great menu choice. Highly recommended & will certainly be going back soon, thanks for a wonderfully enjoyable experience.

After several recommendations from work colleagues and online reviews we decided to pop in for sunday lunch to give it a go. what a disappointment. Having been told to book in advance because it gets so busy the pub was nearly empty. Waited a while before someone came to take a drinks and food order. We ordered two roasts 1 lamb 1 beef. Food came out quite quickly considering it was supposed to be made fresh. I feel it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. Lamb was very dry and my partner struggled to cut through the beef. We had to almost shout at the waitress to ask for a steak knife. Veg was limp and luke warm and the roasts were terrible. Sorry but not a nice experience and wont be returning. Much nicer pubs nearby.

Went with family today ordered our drinks no problem. A very nice waitress came to order our meals 3 of us ordered fish and chips the waitress came back a short time after to say their was no fish unbelievable. We finished our drinks and left. Surely we should have been told no fish when we ordered our meal. It's put us off going again. It's a shame as we have been lots of times and enjoyed our meals.

Oh dear I don't know what's happened at the Greyhound but something has changed and not for the better. We have had so many happy times here in the past with family and friends but I can't see us returning for a long time. This was our first visit this year and we went recently for Sunday Lunch and the first thing that struck me was I didn't know any of the staff, none of them. For years the staff never changed here and we knew them all and always used to chat with them, not any more. We were shown to our table and noticed how quiet it was with only a few tables full although the radio seemed to be a lot louder than it used to be. Considering this we had to wait an age for someone to come for the drinks order, I was thinking about going to the bar to get our own. Then we waited ages again for someone to take our food order. The place did eventually fill up with two or three really loud parties. By the time our food arrived we had nearly finished our drinks. The food wasn't cold but it certainly wasn't hot either. Nobody came to ask if we were ok all through the meal, then we waited again for the table to be cleared and for the sweet order to be taken. We ordered the mini pavlova and coffee, the pavlova was the best part of the meal and the coffee was only warm as well. We live near the Spread Eagle at Gailey and I think we would have been better going there for less money Very disappointing.

I have eaten at The Greyhound several times but this was the first time I have visited for Sunday Lunch. The choice of menu was very good. The roast dinner was one of the nicest I have had for a long time. All 4 of our party really enjoyed the food. It was cooked beautifully, presented well and nice and hot. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back, thankyou

I'd heard good things about The Greyhound since under new management and was given a voucher by someone I like very much, to try it. Wow! we were not disappointed, my starter of crumbed brie and cranberry was crispy and delicious, I had turkey main, which was thick cut and succulent. My other half had the duck pate and then the steak and ale pie which was full of large pieces of steak which you could cut with a spoon. Abundant portions, lovely fresh veg and lashings of gravy. We were really full but shared a generous portion of sticky toffee pudding - more than enough to share and wonderful. Staff are all friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. So happy we've found a new place to eat at. Oh, and my other half says the Guinness was bang on!

A friend and I visited for a catch up pre Christmas on the Tuesday evening before Christmas. We arrived at 7pm and it was jam packed. Two very large and noisy tables to the point where we had to shout to talk to each other. There seemed to be just 2 members of staff serving the tables and I felt very sorry for then rushing about. We got our main meals quite soon then asked for the dessert menu which took ages to come by which time we gave up and asked for the bill at the bar. We used to love this restaurant but it really seems to have gone down hill over the past couple of years sadly.

Upon arriving we were greeted by friendly pleasant staff who showed us to our table and explained the menus on offer . We both opted for the Christmas fayre menu and were not disappointed , I opted for the mushrooms and my partner the chicken tikka starters , both excellently presented and bursting with flavour ,to follow we both selected the traditional Turkey dinner with all the trimmings , again presentation was of the highest standard and the succulent Turkey just melted in your mouth , to finish we had the chocolate tart, which rounded off a perfect meal and evening . For £23.95 for 3 courses one can only say it was value for money and we will definitely be visiting again soon . A truly wonderful experience A special mention to Tom who possesses excellent customer service skills .

We visited The Greyhound for lunch on a Saturday, we’d always heard brilliant things about the pub but not been before. Our first impressions were really good, the decor is lovely and everything looks so fresh and clean. There is also a great outdoor area you can eat and drink in, and take your dog! We sat indoors and had the 2 courses for £15. We had the chicken fajitas and the chicken Milanese, both of which tasted great and the portion size was good. The presentation of both dishes was to a really high standard as well. For dessert we had the biscoff cheesecake and the apple and butterscotch crumble, again no faults. The cheesecake was amazing. All of the staff were really welcoming and friendly. We can’t wait to return for another meal.

My friends and I have been visiting this pub for a number of years with no problems but last night it had completely changed for the worse. There was some confusion as to who was waiting our table and we ordered a second round of drinks twice, with 2 members of staff and they still never came. My friends had the steak which was inedible and had not been cooked properly. I needed the gluten free options and the staff did not seem to have much knowledge of this. My food was brought out along with the other dishes which should not happen. For dessert I was told that they would 'take the shortbread biscuit off my dish of creme brulee' They did this, put the biscuit onto my friends dessert so she had 2, and carried the two dishes out together... Hence cross contamination!!

My only one sad complaint is I could not have a coffee as this restaurant do not serve alternative milk such as Oat Milk only dairy! Family visit for a special birthday meal. First issue was the parking, some cars were taking up 2 spaces, others were just dumped on the carpark. We came to order the starters and the first 2 we ordered were not available. The starters came and were nice.s very fatty Most of the main meals especially the roast meats were very good. Some of the veg was undercooked (not al dente). The steak and ale pies, didn't really taste of ale and the steak was very fatty. The large fish wasn't really that large. We had to wait 25 minutes for someone to take the dessert order. In the end one of us went to fetch a member of staff only to find 3 of them talking round the corner. Overall it was ok but not really worth the price we paid. To be honest the pies in Wetherspoons are better.

We had gone for a drive with the intention of eating out but was unsure where to go , it was a Monday lunchtime and many pubs are closed so we were not hopeful of finding anywhere new that would be of a high standard. Although only 4 miles or so from home I had never really explored this area and when we came upon the pub we thought we would give it a try . The two girls on service were pleasant and helpful and the food was excellent. I had the seared chicken and my wife the seared salmon , both were very tasty and just the right amount . For dessert we had lemon tart and cheesecake which were again of a very high standard and finished with coffees. The prices were as one would expect and we left feeling that we had had great value for the quality of the food . My wife’s wine a New Zealand Sauvignon was very nice and I had the Blue Moon lager which was very nice . We intend taking our sons soon to try out the Sunday lunch and we expect the high quality will be maintained.

The title is not something I'd say about many places at all. From the moment we walked in we were acknowledged warmly with eye contact and a smile which sadly seems rare.Although our reservation was at 7pm, we were allowed to order from the early bird menu which is two courses for £12, three for £16. It finishes at 7pm and most main courses were around £13 on their own.I'm vegetarian and ordered tempura, which was piping hot, fresh and tasty my husband had chicken tikka which was spicy, hot and tasty too. Often food isn't piping hot anymore so this alone won points with me. For main I had cauliflower and lentil curry, which was clearly freshly cooked, well presented and a nice heat, but, lost a point because it was ridiculously sweet, almost artificially so, and was a struggle to finish. My husband had steak and really enjoyed it, said it was well cooked but not dry. We'd intended to have desserts but nothing really tempted us. Drinks were expensive - £5.15 each for peroni and spritzer.Atmosphere was very pleasant, small tables chatting discretely and laughing, we'd certainly return. Hand sanitiser everywhere to help yourself.

Midweek meal with friends. Half of us really enjoyed our meal - so rump lamp/steak are both a good hit, but the rest of us opted for the veggie options and were left really disappointed. The food was quite pricey compared to other places in the area, and we thought it could have been displayed better. We will try again, as it's a lovely cosy little pub with a nice atmosphere and good COVID measures, it was just a shame about some of the food and probably not for quick affordable midweek meal. My wife and I visited on an' Eat out to help out night' so the place was busy. We were greeted and our table was organised very promptly, so far so good. Distancing was also implemented as much as possible and we felt very safe. Service was good, it bordered at times on almost what I would call fussy. Clearly the staff are highly trained and organised which did mean that almost finished drinks were nearly whisked away before they were finished and that within one mouthful of the main we were being asked if everything was ok. However let me be straight and say I'd much rather this than wait for ever and not be able to get anyone's attention. That certainly won't happen here. The food was difficult to criticise (not that I'm looking to criticise it!). But it was incredibly hard to heap praise on either. I had the homemade scotch egg and the fish pie. Both tasted fine but also looked like they were just bundled on to the plate (especially the veg with my main which looked transport cafe esque). My wife had pate (nice but the bruschetta looked like a pre packed cracker bread, whether it was I don't know...), the pan fried stuffed chicken breast (which was plated nicely and tasted good but seemed to lack the mozarella advertised) and the creme brulee (the best course of the night although again the shortbread (which was lovely!) with this claimed to be orange infused, if it was it was very subtle and we couldn't taste it. I had coffee (which came with a little bitesize piece of chocolate cake and this was lovely!!). The beer I had was also first class. Could we complain..... No.... were we just dying to come back the next time??... NoIt was like driving a ferrari which had a speed limiter on. Not quite the experience it so nearly was. We certainly wouldn't avoid the place and bearing in mind Rishi Sunak picked up £20 of the tab it was fine. Had we paid the full price then we might have felt just a little bit disappointed. We will return in the future when the eat out scheme ends and perhaps it will be a little less busy and we will see if that makes a difference. It is so close to being a fabulous experience but little things (like a pepper grinder that squeaked embarrassingly loudly, didn't work and when we changed it (which they did in a flash) it ended up being brought to the table next door) just took the gloss off the experience. Nearly but not quite....

We visited here for a family birthday, due to the size of our group we had to pay £5 deposit per person (which is fine) to secure the table and also had to pre order the food. Upon arrival we weren't greeted by anyone just sort of left to find our own way, luckily there were family members already sat at our table so we just made our way over. The table was awfully positioned we had a big round table and 2 normal table right in the middle of the room it was very awkward, we asked to make some adjustments and the staff kindly did that for us. The barman wasn't very friendly it took us a while to get served but he was on his own so that's understandable. I was told we couldn't set up a tab. We then sat down for food, our starters took over an hour and a half to come out which in normal circumstances if the place was full we wouldn't mind but a few tables were occupied and we had already pre ordered all of our food so it wasn't like it was a shock order and not everyone had a starter in the table. The butternut squash and ginger soup was very nice and my starter of Scollaps was nice. After finishing this we then waited another hour for our mains to come out this was the icing on the cake for us and what have dropped this to one start. Most of the steaks were cold as if they had been resting for a while some not really cooked as requested one of the party sent there's back luckily other members aren't really to fussy so just ate it, the gammon looked like it had been flashed in the pan for 3 seconds each side. One of the party ended up with Cajun Salmon which we later learnt from the waitress wasn't even a dish on the menu so that had to be taken back and the actual dish we requested which was pointed out on the menu had to be made this we had all finished our mains by the time the salmon came out but I was told once this arrived it was nice. There wasn't much in the choice of Vegetarian dishes I think there was 3 I believe. But the Mediterranean parcell was nice. Some of us ordered pudding at the end of the meal apart from the wait we had to receive them all nice. Then the bill came out, the price is a quite high but it would of been well worth the price if the process of pre ordering worked and the food that came out was at a slightly better standard, Or even just what we ordered. Sadly I wouldn't visit again we were spending more time focused on the food and the place itself rather then the birthday we should have been celebrating it a shame really as it was my suggestion to visit here after hearing it was a good place.

Great atmosphere good food at a reasonable price, what more could you wish for. This is how a restaurant should be run.

Went with a party of friends. Have concluded that no chef was available that night. We had pre-ordered meals a week before as requested and were given a 2 hour dining slot. An hour after we arrived the food was served. A friend had ordered the duck!!! There was nothing on that plate that resembled a duck...tough, over cooked and we think it was re heated. My steak was requested medium and was very over cooked also and was really nothing special. Lasagne had obviously just run out as my husband was served a tiny square with a tiny salad with no dressing available, the garlic bread was cheap and tasteless. It was supposed to be a special night for all of us Won't be going there again and certainly wouldn't recommend.

Three adults called in at 1210 hours on a rainy Sunday afternoon on the off chance they had a table. We were seated, drinks ordered and after a short time starters and mains ordered too.My starter of homemade soup was lovely, my daughter commented how tasty her scotch egg was and my son enjoyed his chicken goujons.Another wait for dinners (by now it was busy). My vegetarian meal I'd rate as average, so were the others ordered. Whilst the meat on my sons dinner was tender and full of flavor both commented on how their yorkshire puddings could have done with an extra 10 minutes in the oven, roast potatoes needed longer too. Vegetables were served separately in a dish with serving spoon.Desserts ordered. Oh my, I love their crumble - proper crumble like gran used to make. Cheesecake, large slice - very nice and creme brulee. A good sign of quality food is empty plates and not a trace was left. :)We had soft drinks. Bill came to £80I've dined here a few times now, once with a group of college friends and the service we had was good with the ratio of table staff to customers.I rate this pub for it's starters and the desserts. I'd quite happily skip the main.Staff are polite, efficient and smiling.Would I go there again. Yes - of course.

Had several great lunches here before so decided to have a romantic pre Christmas dinner. The food was delicious and great portions and the service was faultless despite the restaurant becoming busy later. The bar area is dog friendly too! What's not to love!!

Ticked all the boxes. Quick service, clean, good hot food, sufficient portion. We had starter and main meal, which was enough. Enough people in there, not crowded but nice atmosphere. Plenty of choice and reasonably priced.

I had booked a table for 3 people. On arrival a large party was arriving in front of us and if my friend hadn’t shouted up we would have been ignored. We have eaten here in the past and the meals have been lovely but not tonight. I ordered steak and ale pie with chips and veg. The chips and carrots were barely warm so I sent it back. The chips were replaced but not the carrots. The pastry on the pie was undercooked and the meat chewy and fatty. One of my friends had lasagna which wasn’t over warm. We didn’t get a courtesy check but were asked when plates were collected if the meals had been ok. I said then that I thought mine wasn’t up to the same standard as previous visits. We had desserts. I had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. This want nice, had a slimy texture and I left a good half. The service wasn’t brilliant with us having to call staff to order coffees. I ordered a decaf latte which unfortunately I couldn’t drink as it had the most strange taste. Obviously it wasn’t my night. The cost of the coffee was deducted from the bill. Sadly we won’t be rushing back. We were really looking forward to our evening based on our previous visit were very disappointed with the food and service.

I wouldn’t say we are regulars a such but we visit the Greyhound, on average, perhaps once a month throughout the year. Travelling across the West Midlands to somewhere for a meal is not a thing to be taken lightly given the traffic and the fact that someone has to miss out on the drink, so it is a tribute to the team there that we do. We are always treated as welcome guests, enjoying friendly and attentive service, together with good quality food and drink. We visit as a couple, with friends and with family. It is always a pleasure to do so.

We have been going to the Greyhound for many years, as a couple, with friends, and in a party. We have always had a lovely meal and excellent service. But not last night. We didn't go for the Early Bird and were extremely disappointed to find that the items on this menu had disappeared from the main menu. Why? Very little choice now on the main menu. A party of 4, two men ordered steak, one medium rare and one medium well, and 2 ladies ordered BBQ chicken. Having waited for our table and then for the order to be taken, we then waited about 45mins for the food.?? Another couple were seated after us, they had their starters and had nearly finished their main course by the time our food came. The chicken arrived, on cold plates, and the meat was dry, the bacon very salty and a massive amount of cheese on top. No BBQ sauce! The chips were barely warm and looked as if they needed another dip in the fryer. Neither of us ate all of our meal. When my husband cut his steak, medium/well, it was rare. We told the waiter, who was full of apologies, and he took it back only to replace it with another exactly the same!! My husband didn't eat any of it. We did tell the waitress our feelings about the food and were offered 2 free deserts but declined and the equivalent amount was taken off the bill, at our suggestion. Cannot fault the staff but we won't be going back if that is the best that the kitchen can produce. What a shame. This was one of our favourite restaurants and we have always had a good evening there. Sorry Rumi, it's a pity you weren't on duty last night.

Staying in Wolverhampton and my wife did research and came up with this restaurant to try. Absolutely fantastic and great service. Food was home cooked and full of flavour and very reasonably priced. 2 starters,2 mains and bottle of malbec came to just over £50. Plenty of parking which is important as I drive everywhere. Would highly recommend the Greyhound.

My Dad had heard great things about this place, so we decided to pop in. First thing I noted is that the car park was very busy which is a good sign, after that I noted the ales on were Hobson's Town Crier and HPA, two of the best ales around. The beer was kept very well and shortly after drinking our pints we were shown to our table. I opted for the steak and ale pie which was one of the best pies I've ever had. My parents had the steak and gammon respectively and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was great and the restaurant area is decorated well. Will be coming back here soon for certain.

We arrived this evening without booking, only waited a short time to be seated to our table. The starters were home cooked and very tasty, not frozen or processed. We both ordered steak for our mains, mine came out too rare, the waitress had no issue with taking it back to be cooked a little more which then came back out perfect. Due to the mix up the Manager came over and advised he would take the cost of my meal off the bill. The customer service at The Greyhound is outstanding, the team are very attentive and friendly. Exceptional service in beautiful surroundings. We will definitely be returning very soon.

First time we have eaten here. Introduced to this restaurant by friends, it is an pleasant building, attractive flower baskets and planting make it welcoming. Plenty of parking. Good varied menu and very large portions. We both enjoyed our meal (lamb shank) and my Eton mess was large and delicious. Nothing to complain about at all. The staff were helpful and efficient, the food good, the décor and ambience pleasant and relaxing. Recommended and I would return.

Having used the cafe next door and not being impressed, I decided to get my breakfast sandwich to takeaway before leaving for my journey home-so glad I did, what a breakfast it was!!! Being a pig I ordered the sandwich king special - what a sandwich! I could taste the difference in quality and was dead impressed. Took a homemade sausage roll back with me too, not that I could eat it until the evening but it gives Greggs a run for their money for sure. Back in the area in Nov so will be stopping off again to maybe try one of their lunch time specials.

Beautifully decorated, warmly welcomed- and that when it ends The food was very poor. Tiny over priced portions, no side salad. Fish finger sandwich, hardly any filling and what was there was overcooked and crunchy with a meagre portion of chips. Such a shame as the staff are exceptionally good and the interior is beautiful .
