Drove past and needed a take out coffee and cake. A very warm welcome awaited me, super speedy service and delicious cakes, didn't know what to choose so plumped for a pastry. Delicious coffee and would defiantly return if I am in the area.

The meal I had was well cooked and well presented. However, the portion size was ridiculous. I ordered small fish and chips (£10). It would not have been enough for an 8 Yr old. My companion ordered the small scampi (4 pieces) also £10. If they mean the small meals are for children then it should state that on the menu. Not at all good value for money!

Restaurant looked good very authentic in design. staff were quite friendly. Starters were quite nice probably the best part of the meal. Main dishes were very bland and the meat very chewy ( not very good quality) food went cold quite quickly maybe not cooked well or left to stand before service.

The Merchants Inn is one of the best pubs in Rugby it has multiple real ales and ciders kept to a very high standard, a selection of craft beers and Belgium beers plus a great selection of low and no alcohol beers, gins and wine. The Merchants is an education. It is very much a “wet” pub so limited food options at times but often food vans are invited to park up or local restaurants do “pop ups” in the pub. This is a destination pub, those in the campaign for real ale (CAMRA) travel specifically to the Merchants, an 18 minute walk or short taxi ride from Rugby Train Station. As voted the best pub in the UK to watch the game of Rugby on match days it is packed. The demographics are amazing, young and old, male and female, a friendly place where all can enjoy a drink or two or three !

Unless your a regular don't bother , came at Christmas, noticed for the kids entertainment regulars n main characters made sure regular children won prizes, did not help a local woman who was half drunk made it obviously clear while choosing the best 🙄. Was angry at time but was not worth arguing over a toy , but unless your face is regular will not bother , food was small but ok

Food was lovely. The only down side were the staff being a bit tardy getting our drinks, especially as it was early and we were the only ones in there. I'm also not a fan of take out orders being so obvious as it spoils the dining experience, but understand this is difficulf in places with limited space.

Don't be put off by cosmetic damage to wood and paintwork. The linen is sumptuous, bathroom immaculate. I have stayed there 3 nights and only heard a siren for the first time today. No airplane, pub or train noise to speak of. Asda has almost anything you need if you've forgotten something. Iron, ironing board, kettle, hairdryer provided. They lent me cutlery as I took to buying salads from Asda and left my stuff at work. I used their fridge as there are none in the room. It's spacious and cosy downstairs. TV up and downstairs. Checked in 5 months later - for 4 nights, had room 103. Worried because it overlooked high street. Slept really well, enjoyed my stay and looked forward to coming back the following week. The room had been warm and comfortable. Arrived 20 January - given room 208 - half a pane of glass missing! Next level up in the building so had to leave bags, go downstairs, explain the problem, given 212. It feels smaller than 103. I do feel downgraded. I think the room is averaging £122 per night - disappointed.
