Recently returned for another try after a year , new menu , staff , service and food all superb

FANTASTIC. NOT CARVERY. Ordered specific Sunday roast x4. All bang on what was ordered. Quality of food 100% Piping hot and gravy is soooo good Must try!

Very dirty toilets I wish I had viewed them before ordering my food To be fair these starters were very good Children's food was Substandard with dry bread My son and lot had a Burger which could have been used as a Frisbee My wife daughter and I had Roast beef dinner To think that none of us had to die For the Disappointing effort All the plus side was the waiting staff were friendly

Good but the room was cold no good when your getting older

Came out feeling like I'd just been robbed after ordering 3 carverys and 3 small drinks. This is a pub playing at putting some food on. It needs to just stick to being a pub I'm afraid to say. Quite honestly the worst carvery I've ever had in the town and wish I'd saved the money and done it myself. The cauliflower cheese that you have to pay extra for was just a chunk of the same Cauliflower from the main on a separate plate with a bit of cheese chucked on and microwaved ( absolutely awful and not Cauliflower cheese ) 3 different types of meat were ordered and all were quite dry and tasteless, gravey was like brown water. Mash was like glupe. Roasties were aunt Bessie's and not even cooked to a crisp, veg looked very sorry for itself. The ice cream on the brownie was so weird, never seen ice cream melt like this, maybe it was all the ice crystals in it. An all-around horrible eating experience.

What can I say had roast beef it was cold it look like it was preheated in the microwave, also the place was cold and people using the vape inside the pub, daughter went to the toilet it was a disgrace

Going from strength to strength.

Sunday lunch on our wedding anniversary. Nice lady serving at the bar made us feel welcome. The food was hot, well cooked, tasty and a good plateful. The lady that served it was so lovely and had a cool accent.

Unfortunately I visited for a funeral wake.Staff were good,not forgetting the beer.Food was very nice and well presented .Nice pub,plenty room inside.Outdoor seating with large overhead canopies.Very enjoyable visit.

I hadn't been to the pub for a long time and ended up there on Friday night, what a fun night it was the karaoke was on and the pub was filled with great people having a great time. Service was great 👍

Met with family for father's day. Sunday lunch was poor, vegetables were of the frozen variety, anything from freezer to frier was better, such as fish and chips. There was a garden for the kid's with a bouncy castle which they enjoyed. Drinks were good and competitively priced. Dog friendly which is a plus.

I honestly can’t think of a worse place I have ever eaten. It truly is beyond parody! They have truly given up. Tables sticky, no one bothers to clear dirty plates away (customers have to do that), toilets disgusting and one of our meals never appeared. A few years ago it was a decent place to eat. Not now!

Was Waiting an hour for our food despite the place being empty on a Saturday afternoon . 2 out of the 3starters where burnt and dry. we got the 4 meals for £27 deal, it was cheap frozen food like something you would get In Iceland! Not sure if the food of the main menu is better quality but the food off the deal menu wasn’t good at all! It’s a shame as we use to enjoy eating here a few years back. Won’t be going back for food again.

Top quality food. One of the best community pubs I have been to. Various events on. Big screen protector for sports. Well worth a visit.

Rocked up to eat, kitchen closed, no food, had to go somewhere else, if you are planning to eat, call first to check they serving food.

Pub was good, was there for darts match which was spoilt by drunken behaviour from home team

Good start to some new leaseholders - asked to check in on the app shown to a table in a the garden (needed a tidy up to be honest) but service was good, food was nice, fair selection available. Will come back

Went on the 14th April, plenty of tables even some around the back in the garden. Friendly staff. PPE everywhere. Unfortunately haven’t tried out their food as we went on a Wednesday and only serve food on Thursday - Sunday. Great vibe music and even the classic cocktails. But no Stella on draught.

Honestly had the most amazing time, felt safe and the customer service we received was beyond amazing. The Griffin really know how to make a customer feel valued. 10/10 my nee favourite pub, only had drinks but heard the food is great also so can’t wait to try that out next time I’m there which hopefully will be very soon 😊

Family of 5 treat. Masks to be worn on entry and walking about, once seated they can be removed. Good selection on the menu, see pictures. Good friendly service Would recommend

The food was most certainly delicious however my mate was served an array of crispy, frozen to the brim sort of chicken we did enjoy the vast playground as a little boy who calls me mr spoon plays with the huge cogs. They had a nice, yet small selection of wood that we picked from your "vast" playground for our own personal amusement UNTIL WE LOST THE BLOODY THING. the tragedy was that i needed to blow my nostrils so i did it in a urinale

Not very impressed with food and service. I was expecting much more.

Visited with my husband for Sunday lunch. Roast meal not available. Hubby ordered lamb shank which was ok. I ordered gammon and egg. I did ask for the egg not to be sloppy but when the meal arrived the Eggs were rock hard gammon dried up and over cooked tomatoes burned on top. No mayonnaise available. Meal inedible ate a few chips left the rest. Cannot understand the rave reviews about this place. This is 2nd time we visited 1st time not great this time even worse won’t be visiting again

It was pretty cool and I thought this would be a fab place to have a sunday roast with the family. Nice!

Staff were lovely chef very chatty very welcoming however, lager and ale left alot to be desired. The doombar was off approached a member of staff they pulled a few off but it was still the same unfortunately

Nothing special and a typical estate type pub / restaurant but you are sure of a warm welcome. Lots of deals offered each night. Food as expected but, if you want a lunch time baked potato be advised that it comes with cheese. If you don't want that ask before as it is not mentioned on the menu. Free car park on site.

The place was almost deserted at lunchtime which should've been a clue. Manager/landlord/chef very loud and over the top. My husband's all day breakfast was disgusting. Too many things wrong with it ton list here..manager never apologised and just made a joke. Used to go here often 2 or 3 years ago but change of manager. Thought we'd give it a go....never again !

Food was good, staff appeared to be drinking as much as they were selling. Staffs children and dog running around the pub being a bit annoying to our private function

Always happy with the service and food at this friendly pub. The chef will always ensure you're happy with your meal, and never leave hungry! If you havent tried The Griffin recently give it a go.

Service is great but unfortunately it's more about quantity than quality. Good if you are all big eaters though....

Fantastic place to eat. Portions are huge , I am an avid eater and I struggled with the mixed grill. My daughter loved her Hunters Chicken as it was covered in REAL bacon? Not sure what that meant but she was impressed. Prices were very very good , I did wonder how they made money from the food. The Chef is a perfect host and a great character. Friendly and family friendly as well. Top place , try it for yourselves I do not think you will be dissapointed.

I have ordered turkey sunday roast. Meal was horrible , overcooked meat, dirty cutlery on top of that unpleasent behaviour of a cook who couldn't resist himself from not very classy comment.I have heard, in not distance past they had good crew in the kitchen . Restaurant looks fantastic the only weak link is a head Chef. Looking forward for upcoming changes becouse as much as I am a fanboy of Harry Potter i really do enjoy to be a guest in great place like "Griffin".

Bizzar, Rang up and booked Sunday lunch, Sunday morning, 8 people for 3:30 pm, turkey and pork is the fayre, ok I said. We, or 5/8 of us arrive at 3:32 to be greeetd with 'we finish 3:30 what's your order?' I'm phoning the stragglers for their order. Didn't realise it's only Sunday lunch, my fault. Should have left at that point but we are hungry. The waitress who had finished her shift stayed on to serve us nicely. Pork was mainly fat or rare. Rare pork? Turkey's was chicken, which was ok but reformed steaks. About 10, 11 plates arrived at the table. Some chicken, some pork, some a mix with aunt Bs roast potatoes as we ordered, some lots of vegetables to share. Gravey was very sweet and apple sauce was mango chutney; Drinks, we ordered 3 teas. Fine, but they were earl grey, sophisticated, but we wanted regular tea. Just not right. It was cheap and should have confronted them at the time.

The food and service was very good but the cutlery was dirty with dried food stuck to it. We had to find some that was clean enough to use so next time we will probably go prepared and take our own. According to their website they do two meals, from the classic menu, for £12.00 any time of the day.It was Friday and when we got the bill this offer was not included and when queried they produced a different menu showing that the offer only applied Mon.-Thurs. We pointed out what the website said and also that the Landlord had confirmed the offer when he took our order so after much deliberation our bill was corrected.

I have moved up from Ofordshire and visited the pub where I took my family out for Sunday lunch when the meal arrived I was surprised at the amount you got I had the biggest Yorkshire pudding ever plenty of beef and the vegetbles were served separately and the bowl was huge with different veg and the service was spot on the only problem I found was that they only had 3 beers on and sometimes only 1because the lines not being cleaned properly

Went back as it’s over the road and heard they have a new chef . Pub has been decorated inside looks good . menu is ok food is very good big plates with plenty on hopefully the landlord and lady will stay long term and so will the chef

We had booked Dinner for 10 adults.

Happened to call in this place when looking for somewhere to eat when working in Rugby. For a first time in the pub we we made to feel so welcome. We ordered a main meal each and it was amazing, I had the chicken platter and my colleague had a sirloin steak, we were both impressed by the quality, value and service. I will most definitely call back when working in Rugby. Having just read some of the older reviews, the lady behind the bar was saying how she had only had the place 4 weeks, I would recommend a visit to see for yourself.

Brilliant service, have used this place for venues many times and after changing hands it got even better! Friendly staff, tasty food, good portions, good prices! Can't fault at all but just say thank you!

Used to be a lovely place to ear.. that’s not he case any more I’m afraid. The food has gone from really good to very, very average. Service wise is OK but it used to be so much better

No atmosphere and John Smith's beer did not taste good

Went here for lunch for the first time in around a year and was surprised to find it completely deserted. We thought it may be closed but they opened up the kitchen for us. The food was delicious and came in good sized portions for a very good price. The staff were very nice and when something came on one of the dishes that I couldn't eat they were happy to help and made a fresh portion to overcome contamination issues. As an apology they upgraded our sundae to a huge sharing portion. The restaurant itself was clean and tidy. We were very surprised that it's not as busy at it used to be.

6-8-18 Monday 12-6 family fun with ub4d going to be a good day from the sounds of it just fort I would tell people as it looks and sounds amazing. Worth popping in I think. Cheap fun day out with the kids.

Friendly staff and they opened the kitchen early for us. The Lasagne was yummy and the all day breakfast was real value for money, it was massive! Even got complimentary garlic bread

This use to be a regular visitin place. What has happened! Lunch time pub empty.....not a good sign. Not made to feel welcome had booked a table but told to sit anywhere and go back to the bar to order. Food was awful and looked over cooked. Bring back the previous owners to save this pub

The pub was changing hands on my recent visit. The service was very good and the menu was good pub grub.

Clean but food likes factory made, taste is below average, not value for money. Not serving desert in kids meal after clean up, no point to call as the only waitress always behind the bar. Save an ice cream but lose client

My friend & I visited the Griffin in Rugby on Thursday 29/3, looking forward to having fish & chips. When the food arrived it was very over cooked, needed a hammer & chisel to get through the batter. My friend had mushy peas with her meal which didn’t taste very nice she said. Don’t think we’ll be going back again.

Pub had basic decor and served reasonably priced Sunday roast. Generous with the meat and everything was hot and freshly cooked. Service was above average, from a single waitress. Could do with more staff being visible. Overall good value for money, but nothing beyond that. Would return if nothing else available. Toilets could have done with a clean, which didn't help.

It was my first visit back to a place I’d enjoyed lunch with friends previously before it changed hands. I walked in and whereas it used to be busy at lunchtime, it was completely dead. We had a table of 9 or 10 people but no one came and asked if we wanted a drink or let us know to order at the bar for food/drinks etc.

Absolutely fantastic food, we visited on the spur of the moment, we found the staff very welcoming and friendly, it was bitter outside but found it beautifully wars inside, we ordered drinks and food at the bar, within 15 minutes our food arrived, the granddaughter (nearly 5) said that looks nice lol, she had fish goujons and chips with ketchup, myself had a classic burger minus bbq sauce and the good lady wife had fish and chips, the food was fabulous, hot and tasty and well priced. We were asked if there was anything we required, the granddaughter asked if they had crayons so she could do some colouring, she was given some and paper to draw on, above and beyond. Lovely place,staff and food, definitely returning soon
