Drove past and needed a take out coffee and cake. A very warm welcome awaited me, super speedy service and delicious cakes, didn't know what to choose so plumped for a pastry. Delicious coffee and would defiantly return if I am in the area.

I really don't know anything but praise could be given to Treacles. Always good service and great food. The new salad bar is a great addition and the locally sourced samosas were fabulous. Cakes looked so good.. that's our next visit! In a world of ever increasing fast food and standardised menus, it's lovely to have a strong, local business that we know is always quality x

Very disappointing, first visit to Treacle’s Kitchen for a while. It always had a lovely atmosphere, very friendly, lovely food. It now feels like your sitting in the middle of a shop, there are only 3 tables and when you have people queuing around you for the counter it makes very uncomfortable eating. The food has also change and not for the better, tasteless and not hot. Don’t know if they have changed their suppliers but quality not what it was. Staff from previous visits weren’t there and the 2 ladies working behind the counter tried their best, their colleague came to help but made it worse, we asked for som pepper and ended up with 3, 1 from each member of staff. It’s a shame that it’s gone from a lovely Tea/ coffee shop, weigh a warm welcoming feeling.

What a fabulous Afternoon Tea I had with a good friend of mine. Wonderful staff very helpful and the food was out of this world ! So good that I have booked my mums 90th Birthday Afternoon Tea with them. Plenty of sandwiches and a lovely selection of delicious cakes - a box was needed as we just could not manage it all ! They really are a very special place and should be proud of what they have achieved. I highly recommend anyone to visit them.

I've been in here several times. The service is variable. I think I had some kind of apple flan when I first went in. That was nice. I need to try more of their food to give an honest opinion.

When for afternoon tea and what an absolute treat it was. The staff are completely lovely and attentive. But the afternoon tea is something to be seen for yourself. We had the savoy afternoon tea (they do sweet and savoy) and it was both a little bit different and completely beautiful. Also we are big eaters and we left completely satisfied so the portions are great. Can't wait to return again for another.

We had a great afternoon tea for 4 here in celebration of grandma's birthday. Generous portions of sandwiches and cakes and freshly baked (still warm) scones, copious amounts of tea and the all-important box to take home what we couldn't finish. Staff friendly and helpful too.

An afternoon visit with my daughter and granddaughters. Lovely for all of us. I had a sultana scone and coffee, daughter had tea and biscoff gateau, the girls had amazing chocolate milkshakes. Good value, particularly during Eat Out to Help Out.

Lovely friendly cafe. Great breakfast. The option to choose 5 items for £4 was great for us, we had toast too which was a thick slice from a proper loaf. Everything really good. It just took a while to be prepared, longer than I’d expect, we’d just about finished our drinks before the breakfast came. Very good coffee too & it comes with a shortcake biscuit which I like better than one of those usual coffee biscuits. The cakes on the counter looked delicious especially the jam & fresh cream sponge; maybe we’ll stop by for a piece another time. Plenty of room inside as there is seating downstairs where the loos are.

I've had variable experiences in this shop. It's a little bit pricey, but the food i've had has been fantastic.I wish i could have their apple pie all the time.I have also been ignored in the shop when i have gone in for a tea. It's basic vibe is 'ye olde' tea shop and about as near as i remember a decent tea shop to be before Costa came along.

It was the first time I’d been to Treacle’s and will definitely not be the last. I took my 22yr old daughter there for afternoon tea and it was a real treat. We had a selection of sandwiches and wraps, wonderful homemade cake, brownies, scone and macaroons. It was far too much for us so we were given what we couldn’t manage boxed up for us to take home. Wonderful! Excellent value and a proper cup of tea served out of lovely mismatched china. I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Won't be going again. One of the friends with us who is ceoliac , ordered her gluten free sandwich, when it came the bread they served was mouldy on the crusts. The young waitress was very apologetic, however when we went to leave the boss, well we presumed she was said "you've made your point". Having not kicked up a fuss nor made an issue of the mouldy bread we felt she was very rude. Hence we will not be using this cafe again.

Visited for lunch. Menu is good for a small establishment, filled rolls, baguettes etc or jacket pots. They also do breakfasts and other meals or just a cake and coffee. They cater for vegetarians and portions are generous too. The staff are friendly and the food is good value. Now the downside; they need a door on the kitchen and better extraction equipment, I left reeking of greasy fat and several people asked where I'd been as my clothes stank and all had to go straight in the washing basket when I got home! If Treacles can sort this, it will be a perfect little cafe!

This place was recommended to us by family. We had the savoury afternoon tea for two with ginger beer. The atmosphere in the place is lovely and the staff really know their products, you can tell they have passion for what they do. Anyway the food is beautiful. The scotch eggs (we are huge Scot egg fans) are out of this world with. We loved the food so much we bought a sausage roll and a vegi roll on exit for later. We will back again next time we visit Rugby.

The place looks charming on the outside but that is its best aspect. The food was expensive (egg and mushroom sandwich and pot of tea £6.20) and the service very slow. I was asked to pay in advance - a wise move on their part as I would have walked out otherwise - a 'courtesy' that I noticed wasn't extended to other customers. Perhaps they didn't trust me. When my sandwich finally arrived it was served, not very hot, on a paper napkin (was I supposed to eat that?) and the floor was cleaned around me as I ate.

Lovely food, cosy decor, but awful service. One of our meals came much sooner than the rest and when we followed up on the others (all sandwiches and one for a child), we were told off for accepting the meal served to us, as it was supposedly meant for someone else. However, the meal for the person the lady rudely pointed to, arrived at the same time as the rest of his party and they had ordered after us. A blatant lie. Then they missed one of our orders and had a go at us for not ordering it, then acknowledged that we had ordered it, but then announced that we hadn't paid for it. A bit of kindness and itemised billing would help them.

Everything about this place is wonderful. I have one word to sum it up - sumptuous. The food is sumptuous the drinks are sumptuous the staff are sumptuous. If you want a really pleasant eating or drinking experience you must visit Treacle’s in Sheep Street Rugby. The owners and their staff are not just pleasant - they are jolly. Even if I have just finished my sausage roll and somebody’s breakfast goes past I go into a fit of envy. There are no superlatives you couldn’t use - go there!

I've read all the reviews for Treacle which generally look good so I can only assume it was a one-off for us because the breakfast we had was really disappointing. Our eggs were overcooked, the bacon my hubby had was tough, cold and also overcooked, the bread was hard and the tea wasn't great (I also had to ask for a top-up as the pot was only two thirds full. For £3.20 per pot, I thought it was a bit mean. It's only water after all).

Very good value breakfast with a gluten-free option - well done. Friendly service with freshly prepared food. Not a lot of space when you walk in but more room in the basement. The 'standard breakfast' is large so hesitate if you opt for the large version.

A lovely little coffee shop, well situated in the centre of town. Staff are friendly and welcoming. However, the food was a slight disappointment. I love a fish finger sandwich (especially if it’s homemade). This one is listed on the menu as “Treacle’s famous homemade fish finger sandwich”, however, whilst the sandwich may be home made, the fish fingers themselves don’t seem to be. Massively over-priced item for something which seems to contain trust frozen fish fingers - quite disappointing. Like I say, a lovely little place but I think a little overpriced for the quality of food served.

Been here several times and love to take visiting friends. Delicious cakes. Only disappointment is that the last two visits I have felt very much like I was holding the staff back from closing as all the food was wrapped in cling film and being taken off display. We even asked before sitting if they were still serving. Last time I only wanted a coffee - waitress shouted through to back of shop -"One coffee! I'm counting the till!".Both visits were around 3pm. The board states closing time as 4.30pm. Lovely cafe but maybe they should just close earlier!

Finally made it in to this gem after hearing about it from friends who raved about it. We met up with them for lunch and I can see why, Opted for brekky and it was fanatstic - excellent good quality ingreidients and fresh. Our friends son had a slice of Victoria sponge that was almost as big as him. They offer gluten free and vegan options as well so cater for many, only minus would have been difficult if I was in my electric chair that day as they get very busy, and the addtional seating is downstairs so I was lucky to get a seat on ground floor or would have been a no go for me,

I honestly can not remember the last time I went out for a meal and was utterly blown away by the quality of it. I wouldn't in a million years have imagined that Rugby has one of the best restaurants in England. You can tell (and taste) how much love and respect the chef has for their trade. Please do yourself a favour and visit this restaurant.

Soup was water with a drip of butternut squash, we were last customers in for food so I think they had one serving of soup left which they watered down for three. After we complained they made some more soup which was adequate. If you’re adding herbs use a strainer to remove stalks or place herbs in muslin bag (was full of thyme stems) Taste the soup before you serve ( it was under seasoned) and stir when it’s been microwaved so the outside is not cold and inside like a volcano. Making soup lesson one ……..
