Pizza Express in Rugby

Overpriced pizza,I wouldn't rush to go again.

I have been a few times. And it always you need to long to be served. Its definetly problem with management there. Better to find another place if you dont want to spend a lot of your time just sitting to pay or to be served at all

We visited a Pizza Express in London a while back and everything was spot on. My wife went to the Leamington PE recently and was talked down to by the waiting staff over a voucher. Said she felt like she’d been scolded. Cut to last night at Rugby PE for my wife’s birthday. Got seated and then we were left for ages. I could see the waitress hurriedly passing by avoiding our gaze. All of the glasses on the table were water stained. Picked up the cutlery and could just feel it wasn’t clean. Food arrived and was pleasant, but not a patch on the one in London. It was expensive for what it was and me, my wife and son all had upset stomachs afterwards - still suffering now. Dirty, overpriced, poor service, dodgy food. Never again Rugby Pizza Express.

Staff where pleasant and fast but the food was very over priced pizza bases was really thin and not as described meant to be double cheese and pepperoni and could get better at Asda would not recommend going here

One of the two ladies toilets was dirty and unflushed but the other aswell as the sinks & entrance were coated in a layer of what looked like construction dust. Will not be visiting here again.

Not really worth the price, only eat if there is a deal available.

Lovely chain restaurant on the edge of town, so not the footfall in the restaurant I expected. Unfortunately the service is lacking. Midweek service took 20 mins for drinks and 45 mins for food (single calzone). Yes, I was eating alone that night... It was not the first time these service issues had happened. They need to look at the kitchen staff ability to deliver timely service. The staff themselves were apologetic, but this is a rota/training issue.

Service was superb, the pizzas were very nice, but the cocktails were very underwhelming. Would go back again, but wouldn't order cocktails.

The pizza are of course delicious but the real star is their dough balls. I could eat only those for the whole meal. Amazing.

Went for lunch. We booked a table but didn't need to as there was no one else in the restaurant. We also shouldn't have bothered going in to be honest as it's a bad sign when there is no one in a restaurant on a Friday lunchtime. The waitress was nice enough. The place was dirty. There was food debris on the table. The glasses on the table were dirty. There was tomato sauce flicked up the walls. The two pizzas we had were burnt around the edges. The mini desserts with the coffee were nice. Not worth the money though. Wouldn't go back to this pizza express as no atmosphere and clearly cleaning is taken lightly.

Lovely waitress - nothing was too much trouble. Nice meal - bit disappointed no mayo available for my salad. Good care taken over my husband's special dietary needs.

We ordered pizzas and they arrived stone cold. When we contacted the restaurant they could do nothing to assist. We order rather than collect because my partner is disabled and I don’t drive. This is the worst service I’ve ever experienced

Lovely atmosphere on sat night... when we ordered our starters, they never did arrive .. next our mains arrived , asked for garlic bread but came with cheese...sent this back...almost finished our mains before I grabbed a waiter to find out what was happening with the bread....towards the end they was advised they will deduct the cost of the garlic bread..lol when the bill arrived was charged for the starters, & garlic bread.....finally was deducted..our first visit here don't think we shall be returning.

Update: have been numerous times since and always been very good since that one off, never waited long and no issues with food! Were still waiting for our drinks after we'd paid. Never got them I'm the end, food was good but my pizza was luke warm at best as it had been on the side waiting for the other food to finish cooking, given it was 2 covers and only 3 other tables in the resteraunt it was not really very impressive. The app offers made it worthwhile though.

Food was lovely and the service was very good. It was very quiet when I was there, hence the low atmosphere score. I would definitely dine here again.

I've been going here ever since I was born. The staff have always been very nice and there is quick service. I've had many fond memories there. My favourite pizza is the American which I highly recommend. If you can fit it in they do glorious puddings that will fill you up right to the brim! When I was younger, this was the place I fell in love with the bambiccino.

Staff are lovely and trying their best in an understaffed environment, with terrible management and communication. Which lead to us waiting 1:30 hours for starters and 2:30 hours for our mains(not exaggerating).When we got them they missed additional toppings which when address to the manager she went into the kitchen herself and just threw the missing toppings on top to bring back out . And the blonde who I assume is the manager due to uniform, was very dismissive of customer requests to the point I couldn’t tell if she was actually listening as she would cut us of mid sentence by going ‘yeah’ repeatedly, But also dismissive to her staff when they were trying to double check orders that were behind due to the lack of staff, which is why ours was missed.

Went early evening in March, not sure if heating, felt quite chilly.

We have been many times. Every time we walk put saying we won’t be back again. Our favourite pizza place in Rugby was closed and my children fancied pizza so we had no other option. Went tonight, the 8 and 7 years old children asked me if i could set a stopwatch on to see how long it takes them to bring us food not to mention them joking about the “express” part of the name. Took 30 minutes to bring starters on the table and another 30 minutes to bring pizzas over. One of the kid’s pizzas had obvious burnt edges but I chose not to say anything fearing it would take them more time to bring another one. Meanwhile, about 7 collection drivers came in to collect takeaway orders. £75 paid and as we are getting ready to leave one of my daughters finds a big shard of glass on the floor just under her chair and picks it up! That was the last time for us. Never again.

3rd time I have been turned away due to staff issues. Come on Pizza Express sort it out. Disappointed once again.

My partner and I have visited a couple of times now. The staff are polite and friendly and they provide a fair service. The food is delicious, but we would always like just a little more volume in the dip pots when we order the dough balls sharer starter that come with the three different dips.

Booked a table for my daughter’s 15th birthday. Unaware of booking and told 45 minutes wait for food. Restaurant half full. Lots of tables uncleared. Waited over an hour for our meal. Told 10 mins for doughballs, waited half an hour. Clearly prioritising Deliveroo and takeaway orders over restaurant diners. Should have stayed in and ordered dominoes rather than supporting business in town. Such a let down.

The pizza was doughy and cold. Topping non existent Save your money, buy yourself a value pizza from any supermarket for better quality.

Placed an order on Deliveroo at 16:10, it’s now 18:10 and I have not received my order, nor has anyone bothered to pick up the phone when I called several time. Absolutely atrocious

A busy Saturday early evening. 12 of us. Had pre ordered, food served 70 mins after sitting down. 3 of us didn't enjoy our pizza, me included thin and chewy although I ate it all. Staff were doing their best. I won't be rushing back there.

Oh my god. Horrid gluten free pizza ever had shameful under cooked cardboard cold. 16 pounds rubbish brought in base toppedwith cold toppings bever again

Very busy tonight and we had to pre order but some food came out luke warm, gluten free pizza was terrible and my relative could barely eat it. Also ran out of champagne glasses. Service very polite although one lady definitely felt like she didn't want to be there. Visited here many time and this is the first time with some negatives so I think they were just struggling tonight with alot of large tables to serve.

It has been a while since we have visited Pizza Express in Rugby and although previously we have enjoyed our visits, the food didn't quite hit the mark this time. Firstly, the service was excellent, our server Ellen was attentive, polite and more than happy to box up our remaining Pizza. I also really liked that you can see your bill live in the app, a great touch that I haven't seen before. We visited on a Friday at 7pm so the restaurant had a decent atmosphere and I always enjoy seeing an open kitchen. We wanted to order 'Hot Honey Dough Balls' to start but sadly they were out, however our 'Nduja Dough Balls' were the highlight of our meal. They had a lovely heat to them, with a spiciness that never became overbearing. Baked in tomato sauce and 3 different cheeses, it was the perfect way to warm up on a drizzly January. We both had the thinner, larger Romana Pizzas (we normally have Classic) and they were okay; we both agreed that the toppings were fantastic but the actually base was a bit odd texturally. I had the 'BBQ Burnt Ends' and my partner had 'Garlic Prawn'. The beef brisket burnt ends were fantastic, adding a punchy flavour and the actual BBQ sauce was very good, smoky and sweet. The red onions, mozzarella and roasted tomatoes added a freshness to the Pizza, with a healthy portion of toppings. But the base wasn't quite right, neither floppy or crispy, it was a little cardboard like. Funny enough, once reheated the next day in the air fryer, it actually was more enjoyable. Finally, we shared 'Halloumi Bites' as a side and these also weren't great. I think they may have a polenta coating, but it had such an overbearing flavour that we could barely taste any halloumi. This would be something we definitely wouldn't order again which is a shame. Although we found the food a little below average, because the service was so good, and we do have other favourites on the menu we will certainly visit again. Having the app is also recommended, as Pizza Express isn't cheap, and we did get 50% off one pizza. 5.5/10 Visited Friday 12th January 2024

Amazing abi Me and my girlfriend came out to dinner last night we were greeted by a friendly waitress within seconds she was laughing and joking with us i couldn’t say enough about our waitress she was amazing and made our night feel so relaxed it was great

Reserved a table but they obviously weren't expecting us as they had to clear a table which wasn't a great start (as well as the only person we could see being on their phone and ignoring us), food took an hour from ordering, obviously not enough staff, and those there seemed to serve us begrudgingly anyway - wont return, shame really as if were better managed we probably would as its pretty local.

3 items not available, toilets flooding, Xmas lighting not on. Expensive. New years eve lunch with friends turned out to be disappointing. Needs a good shake up, and sorting out. Seems very out of touch.

Arrived not long after 2pm. There was one waitress & one kitchen staff member. It took a long time to get seated because the table of 6 were each paying their own part of their bill. We were eventually taken to table 21, followed by another couple a few minutes after. They were asked for their drinks order before us. The poor waitress was trying her best. After ordering our drinks I asked to order the food & was told that the Bruschetta was off the menu as there was no pesto. No pesto in the building! Pesto - made with Basil, pine nuts, garlic, olive oil & Parmesan. I asked for the Bruschetta without Pesto & was told that I could not. Why? I wasn’t asked if I wanted black pepper or Parmesan on the pizza & after trying to get attention I gave up! There were only a few tables in use in the restaurant but we were all piled on top of each other, which with large tables next to small tables left us straining to hear each other. I know that it’s only a Pizza Express but it was not a good experience on the whole!

Overall really poor service, pre-booked a table, and took over 3hrs to get mains and dessert (after several chases). Food turned up cold, and so had to send it back. Staff seemed distant. Won’t be coming back… much nicer local restaurants to go to. Don’t bother

I visited this place with my young son who has food allergens, the young male manager was very helpful with identifying what meals would suit my son. Very professional and friendly and will definitely visit again.

Pretty good service, not too busy and decent food. Would recommend, however parking is rather inconvenient for the location

They could try put more than a literal tea spoon of the nduja sausage on my pizza. I have measured. Even if you pay the £2.50 extra for more don’t expect it. Other than that the food is nice. Normally quite quick too.

Just eat delivery managed to deliver a hot garlic bread starter and a very cold pizza at the same time after speaking to the restaurant to inform them of this I was told to contact just eat which only offer a refund that can take up to 7 days so left with no pizza and £20 out of pocket

If you love really, definitely, amazingly, and crazily spicy pizza, I beg you guys to try Etna! Medium spicy? Spicy G…(sorry that I am really bad at Italian) No spicy? Try the dish start with “pollo …”. I highly recommend to dine in. The most delicious pizza is always the hot one just coming out of the oven!

A rastaman has more ham on his pizza than this stodgy pizza. We used to get better, fresher £1 Pizzas than this joke, not too long ago. Won't be ordering a pizza from these guys online again. Very disappointing. No ham. No olives. Don't call it La Reine. Last time when I paid for extras, it still had very little little non existent portions. I rarely leave bad reviews. .

Food came quickly, and was good. The serving staff were great and we're also doing double duty cooking in the kitchen as well to help speed up orders. We noticed the tables and chairs were dirty, and we thought it was expensive for what we got.

This was the last minute stop after going to the hospital with my good lady the missus is not a massive fan of pizza but I convinced her to go and she was not disappointed and neither would I but the moment we were greeted we were able to park right outside services quick friendly the food the doubles in particular were to die for I had the pesto and the Mrs had the honeyfield ones both were exceptional Hannah the manager would you do a delight to engage with from her manner through to her speed of service this place is a great example of how Pizza Express should be run and the food quality this second to none we will be back go all who work here and especially congratulations to Hannah for running a nice tight ship. We admire the consistency of the Pizza Express chain. Generally having well trained and attentive staff, decent atmosphere, good food and wine. Seldom disappoints. The Rugby restaurant met expectations.

Lovely pizza restaurant in the heart of Rugby.

Had a job trying to find somewhere to park initially, then luckily someone left a space in a little car park behind, as I was looking. Had a fabulous time coming here for a company Pizza connect event. The food was delicious and we had a great service.

Fantastic meal (as usual in P Express), great ingredients cooked to perfection. Enjoy a split pizza with two different toppings.

This is a kid friendly place and whenever we have small kids with us we prefer going there. I personally liked the menu and the green olives, I love them so much. I would recommend this place if you want to have one of the best pizzas in town

What you don't normally get from a chain restaurant is a personal service, Pizza Express Rugby was different. It was myself and my two children, one of them was a little tired and disruptive and we sat next to the kitchen area, so for the peace of others around I put Peppa pig on my phone. The kitchen staff noticed this and how they haven't had to watch it in ages... This was followed about genuine excitements of the thought of making Peppa Pig Pizza/ dough, both my children absolutely loved it and the 1 year old got very excited when Peppa got delivered to the table. I very rarely write reviews or make comments, however I truly believe the team/ kitchen staff went above and beyond. Thank you so much, we'll see you again soon.

We had a very good experience here at the Rugby branch. We visited one evening during the heatwave when we were desperate for some air con! The staff were also very friendly and efficient. Lovely to see some Italian wines from unusual grape varieties on the menu - I enjoyed a glass of Soave from Northeastern Italy. We skipped starters and shared a Caesar salad and the La Reine pizza. There were a few issues here - firstly the kitchen was out of egg, Parmesan and Cos lettuce, so our Chicken Cesar salad was just chicken and rocket leaves (we were still charged the £13 though). We also went for the ‘classic’ pizza base, which turned out to be a thin base (not thick as described) and overall quite a small pizza. I would recommend opting for the Romana base which is a thin base (though no thinner than the thin classic base we had), but the pizza is considerably larger. We shared a pudding of brownie with vanilla ice cream afterwards, which was delicious.

Lovely restaurant in Rugby, staff are fantastic, last night went in for my 4 year old daughters birthday, and they surprised her with a birthday cake n candle on a plate with birthday greeting on, without being requested. Really lovely touch, and great friendly staff. Highly recommended

The waitress that serviced us Sunday evening, was rude. She was moaning about are booking time, saying she didn’t not know that they took booking at this time. When we received are food we asked for some tomato ketchup, yet she did not return with it. So we had to go up and asked the chef for some, he was really nice and bought some over to us. The food was lovely but not like she would know because she never did a check back. When we asked for a dessert menu she told me that she’s not serving them, which is fine but could have at least gave us the option to take it out. I hope when I book a table for the same time next Sunday the service has improved. Other that the very BAD/ RUDE service. The food was very nice.

Really good service. Food was lovely, gluten free for kids which is perfect for our daughter. And as it was her birthday they put candles in her pudding and sang her a happy birthday. Such a lovely touch.

The location did not inform me of the 45 minute wait until I had sat down. Not an issue as it came quicker than this. It took the team 2 minutes to acknowledge me at the door to get a table. It was busy but appeared short staffed. Having ordered the carrot cake and coffee, I was informed that these were unavailable at the time of ordering. The location had limited supplies of different items on the menu which I have yet to encounter in a Pizza Express. The team were apologetic in that respect and were warm and friendly throughout. The food tasted great but I notice the size of the portion and the amount of butter given on the doughballs was small; The smallest I have come across where other branches are a lot more generous! Little improvements such as having cutlery on my table would not go a miss. A staff member delivered my dough balls without any cutlery. The soft drinks provided were warm in the bottle; normally they are chilled from a fridge. Little niggels made it a less pleasant experience than normal but I would visit again.

Went with a friend recently and we really enjoyed the food and the experience. The staff were very friendly as well. Would recommend to anyone looking for a sit down pizza restaurant!

Really slow service when not even busy. More staff than customers for a Saturday afternoon. Waited an hour for starters. Then had to ask for them to be cleared and for the mains to come out, which again took ages. Over priced and poor quality of food. Had to leave before desserts because had been there too long, no-one asked if our food was ok. Will never go to a pizza express again.
