I went here on a Saturday evening for dinner, it was a very quiet little pub but when my friend called in advanced they told us that we were not able to reserve tables although when we went into the pub there were tables that were reserved. They had also told us we weren’t able to bring dogs but we saw people outside with a dog as well as someone bringing their dog inside. This was a bit strange. Although the pizza here was very nice and I think it was reasonably priced although it was quite a thin pizza. Other than that I think this pub is a nice place if you want to go somewhere quiet and peaceful for dinner or drinks.
I came for lunch with 2 friends and brought our 3 very well behaved little dogs along too. A great choice of food on the menu as always here. The place is clean, the staff were really friendly and knowledgeable. When the food arrived, it was quick, hot and delicious. We all had different dishes and they were just great. Try it. You won't be disappointed.
Overpriced!!..Just paid £3.95 for an iced doughnut which was very heavy and tasted awful, can't see how they can call that a doughnut!
Gluten free doesn't need to be inedible!
We arrived quite early on a Saturday evening so the restaurant wasn’t busy.
The decoration and styling of the restaurant is beautiful.
Staff were attentive and in no way rushing at you but let you take your time and more than happy to explain the menu.
Once we’d ordered our drinks, and had time to look at the menu and ordered, the food came up hot and served beautifully on the plates. The food was as tasty as it looked.
After completing our meal complimentary Limoncello was poured at the table.
We will definitely be back and would recommend this restaurant and hope it continues to flourish

Highly recommend heading to Zappas Cafe when you are next in Totnes - my friends and make a point of meeting here every 2 months when we come down to Study at The International School of Macrobiotics. The food choices are really good with vegan and gluten free options and the whole menu being plant based. Staff are really friendly and helpful and accommodates my food adaption request really happily today.
Always wanted to visit this place have seen people pop in on facebook photos several times . It’s now called the jailhouse Diner and looks fab inside like a 50/60’s diner red and white theme with Elvis pictures. just brilliant. staff very helpful, food great. Thank you so much for a great first visit. keep up the good work .
The portion size was HUGE but the food was cooked to perfection. The service was extremely friendly and efficient. I would definitely return for another meal.
I popped by recently to meet up with a business partner, I don't know what it is about the latte but they're dangerously moreish and go down great with the breakfast baps. I usually find station baps are chewy and inedible, I'm glad they broke the pattern! The atmosphere is nice too, with classic radio playing instead of a random playlist on a loop; something I miss. If you're in a rush for the train, the guys are great with prioritising so that the drink you nabbed to speed you up doesn't slow down your whole day.
What a great day out!
Staff all so welcoming from arriving to departure!
Animal feed available to buy. Entry not as expensive as other farm parks!
Options to have your picnic outside or in a purpose built building! If you use inside space they just ask you clean up after yourselves! Also an amazing cafe available with lots of home made cakes!
There were free colouring sheets available for children.
The park is well set out with lots of maps showing you where you were!
There are plenty of picnic benches dotted around and a lovely play park!
I think we fed most of the animals! Such a great variety!
Also you can buy plants the students have grown the echinacea plants looked so healthy!
We spent about 3 hrs here worth every penny !
We had the traditional breakfast. It was freshly cooked and good quality ingredients were used. The price was very reasonable and the coffee excellent. Very friendly staff round out a really good experience.
Popped in for ice creams and to our delight spotted GF cones. No big deal if you do not have Coeliac’s Disease, but if you do, so many everyday treats and ordinary foods are not available to you. Even more impressed when the scoop was washed before serving us. Simple things these but it made a huge difference to us and I am very happy to give top marks to the Mermaid for being aware and considerate. We will return.
