I popped by recently to meet up with a business partner, I don't know what it is about the latte but they're dangerously moreish and go down great with the breakfast baps. I usually find station baps are chewy and inedible, I'm glad they broke the pattern! The atmosphere is nice too, with classic radio playing instead of a random playlist on a loop; something I miss. If you're in a rush for the train, the guys are great with prioritising so that the drink you nabbed to speed you up doesn't slow down your whole day.

Staff were pleasant, helpful and cheerful. Coffee was not the best due to the choice of beans but when it is rainy and you are cold and wet anything hot, wet and sweet is good.. it would be good if they tried other types of beans.. On the whole the whole experience was good

We decided to try this place out for coffee based on TA reviews prior to catching the first of three trains home. I immediately suspected that we weren’t going to be too happy when watching the preparation and size of our flat whites. Yes we both freely admit to being coffee snobs, but there was little apparent ‘care’ in the preparation (it was not overly busy) and the coffee proved to be far too hot and bitter for our taste. Regrettably we both ended up disposing of most of it down the drain.

Think of a cup of coffee & a train station & my mind would tell me avoid at all costs ,however we were only going to collect some rail tickets & we walked past the white and black coffee house the smell of coffee was enough to waylay us .we were greeted with a smile & ordered 2 coffees the quality of which was excellent.the manager / owner was friendly & seemed genuinely interested in our conversation about holidays. I've lived & worked within 4 miles of this coffee shop for years without even knowing it was there but I will certainly give the coffee chains a Miss in future & drink here next time I'm in town

With an hour or more to wait for a train we popped in for coffee, receiving cheerful, friendly service. Even though it is a small space, it has the feel of an intimate coffee shop with comfortable seating. The provision of books and good quality games is a thoughtful addition. There is a good choice of drinks, and food, we were more than happy to spend some time in such a charming place - not at all what you would expect on a railway station.

Feeling glum in the middle of a 6 day week, I knew that a coffee would be my only pick up. And what a coffee it was. Beautifully balanced and strong enough, unlike the high street rubbish these days. Plus the bearded man with glasses (didn't catch your name, sorry!), served me with a huge smile and wished me well with my coffee and my day. It's the little things that count. 5 star coffee, reasonably priced and served quickly and happily !

Actually not even worth a 1 out of 5. I needed a last minute quick vegan option before getting the train & had already gotten Pringles from the little corner shop. I got a cup a soup tomato soup for £1.50 which was the only vegan option except for an apple... ridiculously overpriced and then when I had a sat down, the guy behind the counter shouted over that I shouldn't eat my Pringles there. None of the crisps on offer was vegan so it's not even possibly to have bought it from them. So rude when it wasn't even busy. I moved myself & my heavy luggage out to never return again. Awful & disgusting

I'm not talking Costa or Starbucks I mean true barista selected and made coffee. the White coffee I bought from The Black and White coffee company wasn't great with out adding a little sweetness. That being said, the service proved excellent, and I'd much rather support a local business than any of the nearby big chains. The coffee on the whole was perfect for a train journey, but if you're a purist, you might need a little something to balance the flavours.

On a rare day off we decided to go to Southampton on the train and get a coffee for the journey. My husband had never tried this coffee shop so I insisted we get them at White and Black Coffee rather than the train station kiosk or the lottery of the train itself where there is no guarantee of even seeing the beverage cart.We ordered two large Americano's one Decaff and it is great to watch someone take such pride in making coffee and ensuring that you get the right amount of sugar and milk to suit you. The drinks were huge and came in nice black and white containers and they lasted us for the whole journey. This is great coffee shop with lovely people serving. My husband now realises what I have been saying about this coffee shop and is a convert.

Having stopped by this cafe a number of times in recent months, I felt that it was only right to bring it to people's attention. As a Poole-Waterloo commuter, I have been frequenting W&B for something like 3 years now, so have probably spilled a fair amount of money in to the till over that time - and for very good reason... W&B do the best coffee, the best cafe food and have the best staff in Poole.Let me be clear; on my journey from my house to my office desk in Canary Wharf, I could get my coffee from: My house, The Poole station shop, on the train (Starbucks Via), Pret, Waitrose, Costa, Starbucks, Nero, Carlucios, or Birleys (and a great many others) - but NO. I *choose* W&B because it is head-and-shoulders above all of these options on all counts. Period.Mark, the proprietor, is incredibly passionate about his coffee and knows intricate details about the chemistry and process of getting a perfect cup of coffee in to your hands on an almost alchemic level.Make no mistake, this is no Starbucks or Costa experience - yes, they may have a slightly more interesting view out their windows (unless you happen to be interested in trains); W&B is much more an artisan coffee house - every cup of coffee is 'crafted', it is not churned out of a conveyer-belt-style process by someone who can't tell the difference between a filter coffee versus an espresso-based drink, but by true baristas who know good coffee, and won't settle for anything less than perfection.Furthermore, great lengths have been taken to ensure all the other products available are of the highest quality - the ciabatta is sublime if you're after lunch, and the pastries are locally sourced, freshly baked and much better than what you'll find behind the counter at costa. W&B use excellent Novus speciality teas which are awesome (and I now use them at home myself). I've not tried the hot chocolate, but that's because they look outrageously indulgent (think 'melting an actual chocolate bar in to an already good-looking hot chocolate').W&B is a gem of a place - a diamond in the rough if you will. If you're after a coffee, or a light snack, you simply can not go wrong by trying W&B once and frequenting evermore.

I didn't really care about the quality... I just needed a cup of coffee. Was I in for a delightful surprise with both the coffee AND that it was located in my local train station! Can you believe it?I ordered an Americano and it was one of the very best I HAVE EVER HAD ON THE ENTIRE PLANET. I travel extensively and internationally and have seen my share of sad station coffee shoppes and ingested many cups of quite inferior coffee. The barista @ White & Black was professional with a serious attention-to-detail. We visited this establishment on a Tuesday lunch time. There was outdoor seating available we chose to sit there and watch the world go by. Orders were taken at the table, but I would note you had to go inside when you wanted to pay. We both ordered Ham egg and chips, which was disappointing. The egg ( yes only 1) was cooked in a ring ( very McDonald’s esq) and was very overdone. No runny yolk as one would expect with this dish to dip chips and ham into. The Ham was ok, and the chips passable but sparse. I’d say possibly we made a bad decedent with what we ordered, however it’s not difficult to get this british staple meal right. I’d say overpriced based on our meal that day. I wouldn’t choose to go back. On a side note and this is outside of the proprietors control. We were bothered several times by shady characters whilst sat outside establishment. All trying to sell counterfeit or stolen perfume and tobacco. They are quite persistent and off putting.
