In the old days this pub was amazing Friday was Funtime Friday . My ex husband died today and normally I would see Paige lovely barmaid . Tonight there was an obnoxious landlady. When I spoke To her about knowing the owner and his family she dissed me . . I have never felt so patrionised . The pub had no oomph. Can’t say anymore but won’t bother again

Unfortunate experience Stayed for two nights in a room directly above the main bar, there is zero soundproofing and the room is completely filled with any music played below as well as talking. You won't be able to sleep easily at the weekend if you are placed in this room. Room generally nice but don't expect a quiet place to retreat to if you are unlucky enough to get this room. Had further issues with the shower not draining and overfilling within a few minutes. I tried to raise my concerns to the manager who wasn't actually present during my visit only to be ignored for over month after my trip.

The room was very cosy and quirky. The location was good as it was right near the precinct with many eateries. The service was amazing, Vicky is lovely! However, the lock on our door was hard to lock, and the shower was poor. We also lacked a few key items such as bowls, and we would've liked that as there was no breakfast. In conclusion, very good with small improvements required to make it perfect😁

We’re there last Friday for a small celebration with family and friends and chose the buffet menu for 15 people. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and reserved us a small area of the downstairs. Having undergone a recent refurbishment and new owners and management The Crown is well worth a visit. The decor, ambience are all excellent and the staff couldn’t have done any more. The food was spot on, delicious and good value for money. If local or visiting Poole I would highly recommend visiting for a stay, a drink and something to eat. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and evening.

Fabulous Hotel competitively priced. This newly renovated hotel is a fabulous venue. The hotel rooms are beautiful (Though the beds could be bigger) Centrally located for everything. The rates are great value , no inhouse chef so breakfasts unavailable but when kitchens up and running Im sure the rates will increase. No parking but they kindly found us a space . We have stayed in the next door venue the Chambers which is also a great find (alot more as self contained flats) Biscuits and coffee / tea in room. The bar is lovely and their sister venue next door is The Guildhall which is a fish restaurant. You get 10% discount but the prices are ridiculous and out of reach to the average customer !

We recently used the Crown Hotel for a small reception after our wedding at the Guildhall in Poole. Very convenient, being less than a two minute slow walk away from the Guildhall. The bar has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and is very comfortable. The Crown put on a buffet for us, sorted out the champagne and cut up the cake. I can only say the buffet was a credit to them, a very high standard, everyone was impressed. The staff could not do enough. Thank you for helping make the day special.

Of places that claim to be dog friendly his is the least dog friendly hotel that I have ever stayed at. To charge £15 extra for having a dog and then not have an area for guests to eat with dogs in either the bar or restaurant is unacceptable in my view. We were told that dogs are allowed to accompany us on the terrace and that we could eat there but the weather was not good and the booths were too cramped to accommodate our party of six. Had I read the website in more detail I would also have spotted that we were expected to put our dog in a cage when we left her in the room which we had to do for breakfast. The hotel rooms are extremely dated, dingy brown and worn furniture. The one star is for the staff who were mostly very friendly.

A couple of weeks ago, a friend suggested I try the Crown, as they said the food was excellent. Having just been, I think they undersold the restaurant. Not only is the food excellent, the service is very slick indeed and they are managing all the restrictions in a very professional manner. The choice on the menu is so varied, I did think at the time that surely the chef could not produce all those options to a high standard, but they did. In the past, if i wanted a quality guaranteed meal I would go to the Guild Hall or the Priory. I now have a great alternative and wish everyone at the Crown, "Good Luck" during these difficult times. Oh, a special mention to Denise who amended my booking 3 times before i got there. Very patient. I have just made another booking and can't wait.

Booked a table for 8pm on Friday, we waited until 8.30 before I asked for our food order to be taken and was told they couldn’t do this at the moment as they were very busy (deja vu for us as we experienced something similar a year ago when we were told the kitchen had closed before they could take our order but wanted to try the BH fish tapas menu so gave them a second chance). The very polite waitress offered us complimentary bread and olives and also offered us a drink on the house when she did take our order at 9pm. The food didn’t come our for another hour (2 hours after our booking) by which time I had gone passed being hungry. The food was very good when we did get it but such a waste because of the long wait, they did take 20% off the bill which was very kind of them. The staff were very attentive and friendly and they did do everything they could to make our evening pleasant but as I mentioned at the beginning this is not the first time this has happened and because of that we will not be going back again. Such a shame.

We came across The Crown by chance as we arrived in Poole for our holiday thinking we wouldn’t need to book anywhere for food but we had been turned away by several other places. I’m so glad we were after the meals we had last night! We were received welcomely from the moment I stuck my head in the door. The restaurant is warm and cosy with a simple decor and little tea lights lit all around. Tables were set out to account for social distancing.I had the duck and orange pate to start, followed by the recommended battered fish and chips and I wasn’t disappointed. The portion sizes are more than enough and the fish was so fresh it literally fell apart on my fork. Absolutely beautiful food. The only disappointment for me was not leaving enough room for my dessert.. but we’re going back tonight so I’ll make sure I leave room! The service was excellent too, the team are really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.

My husband and I went for lunch today to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. The table with an anniversary banner and confetti had been prepared for us . My husband tried the new lunch fish tapas menu and I had the sole meunière from the specials board , both were wonderful, beautifully cooked and presented. We started with delicious home made bread and dips . All washed down with a bottle of N.Z Sauvignon Blanc . Unfortunately we couldn’t fit in a dessert !! Denise and Sean are delightful hosts . A perfect celebration, thank you xx Lynda and Jim

Absolutely yummy, all of it! Fell upon this place purely by chance and it turned out to be the highlight of the weekend. chicken dish lovely, but the sea bass was amazing, generous portions, great ingredients and flavour. Garlic cheese bread and triple cooked chips as sides were also super, I literally waddled out of there, will definitely return if opportunity arises. Well done to the chef and all the staff.

Having been for several Sunday lunches here we went as a group of nine last Sunday. The food and service was outstanding. The Sunday roasts give you a choice of four meats served with roast potatoes and Yorkshire Pud. A dish of Cauliflower Cheese and a big dish of fresh vegetables . Carrots Cabbage Mange Tout Swede and runner beans. Very reasonably priced with child size meals available at a reduced rate

Booked a family and friends meal for my girlfriends 50th birthday. The meal, service and whole experience was excellent. They even decorated the table and surroundings with 50th banners and sparkle. The food was delicious and plentiful and complimented by all 13 guests. Well done and we will definitely be a returning customer.

The landlord had a foul mouth and a bad attitude. We all LOVED IT would recommend to all that like a good choice of ales and a knees up. God rest you Eileen and Joyce Scum

Today my husband and I had roast lamb and fresh vegetables. It was freshly cooked stuffing Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and tasty gravy. Thank you to Debbie ( staff) for friendly service. Recommend to anyone who enjoys a Sunday roast to try Millies Cove first.

We visited this establishment on a Tuesday lunch time. There was outdoor seating available we chose to sit there and watch the world go by. Orders were taken at the table, but I would note you had to go inside when you wanted to pay. We both ordered Ham egg and chips, which was disappointing. The egg ( yes only 1) was cooked in a ring ( very McDonald’s esq) and was very overdone. No runny yolk as one would expect with this dish to dip chips and ham into. The Ham was ok, and the chips passable but sparse. I’d say possibly we made a bad decedent with what we ordered, however it’s not difficult to get this british staple meal right. I’d say overpriced based on our meal that day. I wouldn’t choose to go back. On a side note and this is outside of the proprietors control. We were bothered several times by shady characters whilst sat outside establishment. All trying to sell counterfeit or stolen perfume and tobacco. They are quite persistent and off putting.

Lovely coffee bar with great coffee such a pity that the pavement table area is dire, full off debris, cigarette ends and lots of dead leaves. Would we find this level of squalor outside a French cafe, I don't think so!
