Zappa's in South Hams

Staying in totnes for the last three days I can easily say this is a wonderful. The food is delicious and as someone with cows milk and egg intolerance this is such a haven. The food doesn’t skim on flavour. From the soup to the smoothie bowls to the samosas(even the salad!). I’ve come (on different days) for breakfast, lunch and a takeaway dinner and can say non of the meals were lacking. 100% recommend this place wether a meat eater or not.

This place has seriously improved over the past year or so! Excellent. Shame it's not vegetarian though.

Great spot for a veggie lunch whilst exploring the wonder that is Totnes town centre! Very tasty. Surprised to learn Zappa's is twinned with the also excellent Tide Tables cafe under Richmond-upon-Thames bridge, which we often visit as it's local to us! ETA: Another fine lunch at a great cafe! Friendly staff, wonderful and healthy food. Samosa plate is great value. Five thumbs up from us 👍👍👍👍👍

Amazing salad, just like in pictures from others! Lots of flavours! It is vegan and I would definitely go back for more.

I got the tofu and falafel wrap which was wonderful, but the service was a bit disorganized. Someone was being trained when I ordered, which is fair enough. But when we were waiting at our table two servers came at different times with dishes we did not order and both asked us twice what we ordered.

All vegan cafe on the lovely main street in beautiful Totnes. We arrived about half an hour before closing so most of the main dishes had sold out. There was a sign that mentioned vegan soft serve, alas this is not ‘Mr Whippy’ style but in tubs and they only had vanilla flavour. I also took away a slice of their banana bread for breakfast the next day. Both were just ok but I would love to go back and try the salads or lasagne next time. Paid parking nearby. 3.5⭐️

This is a lovely place where you don't have to ask if anything is plant-based...because everything is. Dog friendly too. Will definitely come back here again. *Update* Returned here in December 2023 to try the food. It is absolutely delicious and wholesome. The service is fantastic and the food is very reasonably priced. There are many good cafes in Totnes and, of them all, this is our favourite. *Update* Back again in June '24 and had a large salad. Once again, delicious food and the the dressings are fantastic. This place is not just good, it's consistently good. Satisfied customer.

Delicious vegan food. Dog friendly too. The only negative was the staff were a little unfriendly/grumpy/tired, but I don't know what kind of day they had had previously!

Absolutely delicious food. Always a delight not to be disappointed but Zappas exceeds expectations! Glorious salads made with love and attention. A real gem of a place. Hearty portions and extremely reasonably priced. I take my hat off to ya!

Had the most delicious mixed salad in Zappa's today and it is by far the best meal I have had in ages! The flavour combinations are a complete winner (fresh mint, beans and pulses, zingy dressings)- you can tell the people running this place put care and love into the food they prepare. Highly recommend.The people working there are lovely too!

The only thing to complain about Zappa's is the space available inside the cafe. They've got lovely staff and great food, just can get very busy and not be able to fit more people in :)

Rude staff. I ask a question and the young lady behind the counter just started to laugh at me without any explanation, I waited about 10 seconds and she just continued to laugh. I then turned to another assistant to be served. My wife was about to complain but restrained herself but I felt uncomfortable by the rudeness shown. I won’t be returning again.

I had the happy bun which was absolutely delicious and so good for value! Great to see a vegan place in a small town. Very nice vibe inside and very friendly staff :D

Went with my Mum. Amazing lasagna and the best chocolate fudge cake ever! And I mean ever!

The best hot chocolate I've had! Delicious, fluffy cake (with plenty of sweet and savoury options) and the staff were lovely. Such a cosy little spot with a great outdoor seating area in the church yard. I recommend it if you are visiting Totnes.

Vegan food, but I’ll be honest, i didn’t even notice that until I came to do this review. Food was delicious. We spoke with the chap behind the counter about our choices, he was super friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Only dropped a star from atmosphere as the outside tables were _very_ wobbly on the uneven pavement, and guests at every table complained about it.

Delicious food with lovely staff who I chatted with for a while. Great healthy food whether you are vegan or not. Really enjoyed my lunch here.

Vege lasagne and mixed salad one day and mushroom pie and salad the next....both yummy.

Excellent vegan foods & drinks, the salad was exceptional, bursting with different flavours.Vanilla milkshake was a gorgeous flavour.( My partner ordered the milkshake & the lady behind the counter accidently made too much so brought me half a glass! So kind 😃 I recommend the Citrus cake, best cake I have ever had, rich dark marmalade & creamy butter icing in the middle, sublime! The mushroom pie was full of earthy mushroom flavour too as tasted my partners.Great food 100% vegan, wonderful staff & atmosphere, thankyou Zappa's.( I am no relation to the shop owners, I just happen to have the same name.)Will be going back soon.

Really lovely staff and tasty food but I feel disappointed with what happened. I asked for a pie with side salad (£6.50) but was given a pie and a bowl of salad (£12). The menu stated "mushroom pie with side salad £6.50" but I guess there was just a mixup.

We had an amazing experience after stumbling upon this cafe!! We weren't expecting much as the food was so cheap but we had huge plates of food served to each of us which were both delicious. The customer service was fabulous, literally just so happy we found this place. Thank you ❤️

100% Plant based cafe. Lovely vibe, friendly staff. Service was a bit slow, largely as they forgot my wife's meal lol. All good though. We'll definitely be back and encouraging others to visit.

The juices are very small for the price.Service with a barely there smile.Arancini ball was bland and the Jack pie came with about 3 salad leaves.pretty poor really,won’t eat there again.

A wonderful experience with a wide variety of tasty dishes, even desserts and friendly, prompt service. This was our first visit, but not our last. They were open & serving from their menu beyond 3 pm which was appreciated. Highly recommended!

Ohh such a gorgeous vegan cafe in the heart of Totnes. Friendly chatty staff, clean, with fab selection of food from organic salad bowls to all day breakfasts, pies and curry’s. “Let thy food be your medicine” is their strap line.

Everything perfect. Organic food. Delicious tart. Finally a vegan cake made no using refined sugar. For the excellent flat white we had coconut sugar. Wow. Only a note. There's not a toilet.

What a great place, at last Totnes has a fully plant based cafe! We had a great Biscoff Brownie, a vegan soft serve ice cream and an iced latte with a caramel shot. We’ll be back for more substantial food soon, it all looked really good and was very reasonable.

Tasty vegan salads, thick smoothies, and vegan soft serve! Very reasonably priced. Who could ask for more, especially with this stunning outdoor seating by the church. They were super friendly inside, and very busy - looks like they have many happy customers. Definitely worth a visit for vegans in Totnes!
