Popped in here for a sandwich lunch and tea. The staff were very attentive and the meal was prepared quickly. Wife had Tuna and mayo (a favourite of hers) and I had Atlantic prawn sandwich. both were served with a small side salad and plain crisp. Unfortunately the Tuna sandwich had a bit of a funny taste, the tuna smelt OK so we can only think it was something in the mayo. At one point the owner came over to check if everything was ok, and whilst we did not want to make a fuss (other people on the same table) I did ask what he tuna sandwich had in it and was advised just mayo. The owner was concerned why we asked but we played it down as not not raise an issue about the food. I also tasted it and agreed that it was not right so my wife discreetly wrapped them up and threw the sandwich away. My Atlantic prawn sandwich had a lot of filling but too be honest no real taste and were smaller that shrimps I have seen and had in the past, so again a bit of a disappointment. Finally having ordered a pot of tea for 2, I was very surprised to get a tea pot the same size I have had in many other restaurants and cafe that was a pot of tea for one. It certainly was not what I consider a pot of tea for 2 like other places I have ordered from. Not a particularly good review from me for the Driftwood, but in all my reviews I am always honest and hope it will go someway to improve things, and is as it is on the day of my visit. I will re emphasise that the owner did show concern and stated that he wanted to make sure we were happy with the meal, but the area was crowded with people and did not want to draw attention to this situation. I will add that the whitebait on the next table looked excellent.

Love this takeaway. Simply the best I've had in a long time, and easily the best in Weymouth. The food is always so delicious, piping hot, and packed with exotic vegetables, like water chestnuts, cashews, beansprouts, bamboo shoots, etc. (Thank you for not modernizing and using cheaper veg, like peas and carrots only) The beef is always so tender and well prepared. Seared to perfection in a red hot wok. I can tell they use proper old-school techniques, instead of modernizing or over simplifying, which is really my favorite thing about Ocean Hay. My personal favorite is the beef with cashew nuts, in Yellow-bean sauce. Such a deep, rich, red sauce. Their Singapore fried rice is always loaded with lots of different meats too! Strips of chicken, pink char sui pork chunks, and some tasty prawns.

Frequently go to SG for their smooth coffee and BEST cake or to have their amazing waffles! Amazing food and always service with a smile. The girls are so lovely and helpful, it’s definitely my go to place when meeting friends. I also love that it caters for gluten free and vegans which is a real win! Such a a chill atmosphere in a quirky part of town.

Good food for vegetarians and meat eaters. Book to avoid disappointment as it seems to be always fully booked, probably because the restaurant is quite small
