Good food but only 2 people serving/cooking, big queue as a cruise ship was also in. Took around 10 minutes to order, then a further 15 minutes for the food..

First time here and sunny day on the quay so why not have fish and chips. So glad I did. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a piece of cod so fresh. Sweet, glistening, pearly and cased in a fine batter. Quite frankly a stunning lunch. Tip of the hat to the Stone Pier cafe.

Great little spot. Wasn’t expecting much as it’s ‘just a cafe on a pier’. Couldn’t be more wrong, restaurant quality food, plenty of choice (not your boring bog standard stuff either), coffee was great, all reasonably priced. A real gem, highly recommended.

I do love this place. A real ale and a toastie right on the waters edge is just lovely. However the seagulls love it aswell and have become very confident, so now you have to watch them more than the boats, otherwise they will swoop on your food. ! More brollies might help.

A regular haunt, it's a shame being so exposed that you are at the Marcy of the weather. When it is sunny it's lovely, the food is good quality and the gulls (mysteriously!) never seem to bother customers. We had one issue whilst they were very busy a few weeks ago, where our food was taken to the wrong table and we waiting for almost an hour. But once we queried it after tables that sat down after us has been served it was worked out and our food was served promptly, with the server offering us complimentary cake and drinks as way of recompense. I marked the service down by one star as the man who came out to investigate what had happened initially seemed quite suspicious that we had been served already, and once he worked out that the food had been taken to another table by mistake he explained to us what had happened, but didn't actually apologise. However, the young server did repeatedly and also offered us the complimentary items. The more senior staff member could take a leaf out of the young un's book of customer service!

Our annual pilgrimage to Stone pier cafe didn’t disappoint. 4 adults we all had the crab sandwiches and shared to portion of chips washed down with Dorset cider. On a fine day with lots of activity in and out the harbour it really is a treat. I have a bigger reason to commend today as a lady took a tumble close to the cafe and they were very quick to get a comfy chair, an umbrella put up and ice, cloths and water to ensure the lady could get her breath. The level of attentiveness was brilliant and it couldn’t have been easy as there was a queue forming so it was nice to see people being put before profits. Well done Stone Pier. Even the chef came out to check on the injured lady who then heartily ate a lunch.

Fabulous grilled mackrell served here. I know if you go to an expensive restaurant you get well prepared food. But if you want the best traditional, local food it's best to go to an unpretentious cafe. That's what I did here, it cost £11 and was delicious. Never review but pretty disaapointing. Drove an extra 15 mins to come here because of the high reviews. ordered the garlic prawns which were a bit overcooked. but more importantly, 75%+ of the prawns had eggs. they're edible but I was not told of this beforehand, was a pretty gross surprise. At the price point of the place you feel like you're being mugged off. Nobody came to check/take plates away despite me being there for 45 mins. Should have gone Billy Winters again.

Popped in here for a sandwich lunch and tea. The staff were very attentive and the meal was prepared quickly. Wife had Tuna and mayo (a favourite of hers) and I had Atlantic prawn sandwich. both were served with a small side salad and plain crisp. Unfortunately the Tuna sandwich had a bit of a funny taste, the tuna smelt OK so we can only think it was something in the mayo. At one point the owner came over to check if everything was ok, and whilst we did not want to make a fuss (other people on the same table) I did ask what he tuna sandwich had in it and was advised just mayo. The owner was concerned why we asked but we played it down as not not raise an issue about the food. I also tasted it and agreed that it was not right so my wife discreetly wrapped them up and threw the sandwich away. My Atlantic prawn sandwich had a lot of filling but too be honest no real taste and were smaller that shrimps I have seen and had in the past, so again a bit of a disappointment. Finally having ordered a pot of tea for 2, I was very surprised to get a tea pot the same size I have had in many other restaurants and cafe that was a pot of tea for one. It certainly was not what I consider a pot of tea for 2 like other places I have ordered from. Not a particularly good review from me for the Driftwood, but in all my reviews I am always honest and hope it will go someway to improve things, and is as it is on the day of my visit. I will re emphasise that the owner did show concern and stated that he wanted to make sure we were happy with the meal, but the area was crowded with people and did not want to draw attention to this situation. I will add that the whitebait on the next table looked excellent.
