Driftwood in Weymouth and Portland

Popped in here for a sandwich lunch and tea. The staff were very attentive and the meal was prepared quickly. Wife had Tuna and mayo (a favourite of hers) and I had Atlantic prawn sandwich. both were served with a small side salad and plain crisp. Unfortunately the Tuna sandwich had a bit of a funny taste, the tuna smelt OK so we can only think it was something in the mayo. At one point the owner came over to check if everything was ok, and whilst we did not want to make a fuss (other people on the same table) I did ask what he tuna sandwich had in it and was advised just mayo. The owner was concerned why we asked but we played it down as not not raise an issue about the food. I also tasted it and agreed that it was not right so my wife discreetly wrapped them up and threw the sandwich away. My Atlantic prawn sandwich had a lot of filling but too be honest no real taste and were smaller that shrimps I have seen and had in the past, so again a bit of a disappointment. Finally having ordered a pot of tea for 2, I was very surprised to get a tea pot the same size I have had in many other restaurants and cafe that was a pot of tea for one. It certainly was not what I consider a pot of tea for 2 like other places I have ordered from. Not a particularly good review from me for the Driftwood, but in all my reviews I am always honest and hope it will go someway to improve things, and is as it is on the day of my visit. I will re emphasise that the owner did show concern and stated that he wanted to make sure we were happy with the meal, but the area was crowded with people and did not want to draw attention to this situation. I will add that the whitebait on the next table looked excellent.

Good food , nice people and nice environment, good crab tagliatelle and squid, my son had chicken strips that were freshly made , nice change.

Lovely cafe for lunch. Food was delicious and we sat outside with a beautiful view of the harbour. Highly recommend for a visit!

Two pizzas a small beer and a gin for £33. Both pizzas tasty. The crust on one was well risen and crusty the other a bit undercooked but I don't need the calories! Friendly service and feedback well recieved.

This is our first and our last visit to driftwood! If we weren’t short of time I would have walked across to town to the highly rated Italian restaurant and takeaway . We wanted to sit outside but were told by the VERY GRUMPY manager that they were all reserved for later , despite us only needing an hour! Then another couple were allowed to sit in one of those tables . I have never been spoken to so rudely and abruptly ! Avoid this place there are far nicer places with lovely customer service elsewhere in Weymouth! I feel sorry for the lovely waitresses who have to put up with his rudeness. Such a shame as the location is wonderful . In terms of the gluten free pizza it was the worst base I’ve ever had and hardly any toppings. A very disappointing experience all around.

Driftwood was an unexpected find by Weymouth Harbour, we’d passed by meaning to stop for ice cream but actually enjoyed a lovely dinner there (& ice cream for dessert). While there is not an official gluten free menu the chef was knowledgeable and able to talk me through the menu and made me feel confident he would do his best not to cross contaminate my meal. I enjoyed the prawn salad, but also the burgers and pizza were excellent.

We came down to do some crabbing on the harbour and grabbed some lunch. Driftwood is an amazing little cafe and milkshake/ice cream spot. Ordered some loaded fries, calamari and a ham and cheese panini, all really tasty!

What a fantastic hidden gem on Weymouth harbour side little bistro serving delicious authentic Italian pizzas.Great hospitality and good value for money. I'll be visiting again.

Locationover looking harbour the Staff Franchesco and Millie lovely so attentive , Food is amazing ,fresh cooked , nothing is to much trouble, really welcoming , Delicious !

It was a really nice size room for all of us and enough breakfast choices and over all it was very nice staying there as everyone were so friendly and welcoming.

Millie and both Frans are incredibly invested both personally and professionally its a wonderful place to eat, there version of surf and turf ie fillet steak and lobster is second to none in the area, add there persona and its 5* all the way 💙👌

We dined here on 7th July for dinner. Absolutely amazing food with wonderful service. Attentive, incredibly friendly and they gave our dog Dave a bowl of fresh water. Special shout out to chef for his stunning surf and turf platter and the young lady who served us. She was so lovely to us - thank you!!

I honestly cannot put into words how amazing our food and experience was at Driftwood. Absolutely flawless. Fantastic food , fantastic service , fantastic views.

This place used to be amazing with great pizzas and lovely staff...but what has happened!!..the staff appear miserable and sneaked off for a cigarette behind the waterfront bins..(hope they washed their hands when they went back). Pizzas are undercooked and doughy and really aren't good. I would rather go to Nicetta in weymouth who are proper italian/sicilian and serve amazing pizzas at the same price as driftwood ..its a no brained. Wont be going back to driftwood again as there are far better pizza places like Nicetta and Enzo in weymouth.

Popped in here for burger and fries. What a lovely place. Nice service. Home made burgers. Nacho sauce on the fries. Absolutely delicious.

Nipped in for a cheeky full English breakfast and it was very tasty. The service was super friendly and the place has a lovely vibe. I will be back for more and to enjoy sitting out on the Quayside tables.

Amazing homemade pizzas with a variety of toppings. The seafood platter (seabass, prawns, whitebait & mussels) was fantastic! The staff were extremely friendly, including the chef, Francesco who gave up some time to speak with us. Happy tummies!! Definitely a must visit.

Delightful restaurant in a great location. We didn't have a reservation but they were very attentive and accommodating. Food was first class and reasonably priced, and service was superb. Would highly recommend.

I visited yesterday with my friend for lunch, great experience. Beautiful view of the harbour. I had the chicken wrap and my friend had the halloumi sandwich. Both of which were lovely. The staff were great, and it is reasonably priced as well. Will definitely visit again next time I visit Weymouth.

Lovely quiet atmosphere. Friendly staff attentive to customers needs. Friendly head chef enquiring around your meal. Kids sized pizzas and reasonable pricing.

We had a lovely meal overlooking the harbour. We had lovely sourdough pizzas but there were plenty of fish options too. The staff were attentive and they have clearly gone to a lot of effort to provide outside seating and on trend decor and style inside.

We sat outside overlooking the harbour. Our party ordered pizzas and cod from the main menu. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. The waitresses were very attentive and the head chef came out to check everyone had enjoyed their meals, I rarely see this happen and thought it was a nice touch. Lovely evening and would recommend to others.

Cannot rate this place highly enough. Children shared pizza and gave it top Mark's (and they know their pizza!) and we had mussels. Utterly amazing with bread and fries to mop up the white wine & cream sauce. Will definitely be a regular from now...

Called in for a light lunch; no menus visible outside but the location looked great. Tables inside and out on the harbour wall. Inside tables are set out in booths with a clean, modern yet rustic look. We sat outside (having popped inside to ask for a menu). We both had the crab sandwich in brown bread which is served with a small portion of fries and salad. Service was quick, friendly and attentive. They also have a takeaway counter on the left as you go inside. Food was excellent and very quick in coming to the table. My only feedback for the owners would be to have a visible menu outside as several people walking past commented in how nice it looked but looked for a menu outside and leftwitbout asking inside. Personally I couldn't fault the venue, staff or food so 5 stars.

Attentive staff who understand food and service. The food here is made with passion - mussels, salads, squid, arancini, panini - we were all catered for and everyone enjoyed their food. Delicious! Great prices - we will return!

I was very pleased with this place. They were very kind to fit in us despite no reservations, very accommodating and helpful people working there. Food was very delicious. We had two pizzas to share and both were baked really good and very nice combination of toppings. To try the main menu, I'd recommend going earlier, as those were sold out by 6pm. But we were super happy with pizza choice too. View is also very nice, overseeing the harbor. Nice spot to have relaxing drink and nice pizza. I'd definitely come back.

I’m a huge seafood fan and had visited another very well known (and pricier) place 2 days before. This was superior, the cod was just so great.

Absolutely love these pizzas. Fresh, homemade pizzas that are not stingy on the toppings. A pizza that will really hit the spot with great service too. Highly recommended

Was there yesterday, fayre in the day, the seating literally on the edge of the harbour, beautiful view, and homemade coleslaw that gets 11 out of ten. Great food, lovely staff.

Amazing, new restaurant on the harbour, pizza was great and the service was brilliant. We were a walk in and the lady went above and beyond to accommodate us. Really felt welcomed and the food did not disappoint!

Best home made pizza I've ever had! The Dorset (beef and Dorset blue cheese) and The Goat (goats cheese and caramelised onion) were to die for. 3 pizzas for 2 adults and 2 kids was more than enough. Doggie bag taken home :-) All consumed on a summer's eve outside, with the sight of boats floating past. Very continental!

A lovely meal at the recently opened Driftwood in Weymouth Harbour. The restaurant had not yet been licensed to sell alcohol, but this wasn't a huge deal for us. We experienced excellent friendly service and lovely pizza from this restaurant, especially as during our stay...

We stopped in here on a weekend away visiting family. We were desperate to escape the rain and get a hot drink and some lunch for our baby daughter. They were so welcoming and accomodating and made some special toast using the panini grill for her. I cannot recommend it enough - the cutest little place with the nicest people to serve. It's just a shame we live so far from it.
