Four of us for dinner. Sat in the bar area as we had a dog with us. Cosy old pub. We had steak, risotto, venison & duck. All were delicious. I had the duck and can honestly say it was the best meal I have had in a long time. Ordered the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert. It was so big we each had a spoonful😋. Service very good. Had booked for 6pm on a Wednesday and was busy so best to book.

Excellent Thursday Carvery. At £10.95 it’s great value. Thick slices of moist meat and fresh vegetables to choose from (can we have roast parsnips too please?! ) You won’t come away hungry! Staff efficient at the bar and at the carvery. Vegetarians catered for. See you again soon.

The van runs a generator all day to power the van, noisy and polluting. must be a greener way to run a business.

My daughter and I booked dinner at The Olive Tree Restaurant in The Durrant House Hotel in Bideford. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy and our table was in the bar instead, which suited us both better to be honest. We were served by John-Paul for the whole time we were there and he was so friendly and helpful and we cannot speak highly enough about him. Nothing was too much trouble and he kept us informed about each course while we were there. We both ate from the Specials Menu which was dinner and dessert for £14.50. Our roast dinners were delicious and so were our puddings. We had a great time and will definitely be booking again very soon.

I was recommended to try this by a friend. 9 of us staying locally rocked.up for breakfast at about 10:30am... we'd already noted from the website that they don't serve food between 11:30 - 12pm. we had 4 small dogs with us and sat at the back in the corner as two of our dogs are in training and need socialising. The 'dog rules' was definitely a clue of things to come. My two dogs barked a couple of times at other dogs coming in. The owner told my partner, "One more bark, and they are out, Despite this we ordered 9 breakfasts and the lad that took the order complains loudly "its gonna take me ages to cook this lot" we decided to sit outside away from our family as we felt by this point unwelcome. My niece then heard the owner say to another customerl "Yours are lovely and quiet, not like those rats" if I had heard this, then I would have left immediately!! My family came out to join us after they had eaten and said they had never felt so unwelcome! The food is average at best, and the poached eggs were solid! ... it's just a shame the whole experience was ruined by the poor attitude of the staff. Save yourself yourself £7 on the toll and a disappointing trip and eat elsewhere!
