The best restaurants in Teignbridge South West

Me and my mom went to Cook&Fry (Fu Lin) in Buckfastleigh for mom birthday meal, a day before because of work unfortunately. We have come here many time before, to try out the different dishes they have to offered. Served by a male staff member who knows what he was doing as he listened carefully to what we ordered, making sure he got it right. It is mom treat so she gets to pick what we are going to have, and decided to ordered BBQ ribs and some chips (1/2). We took it home to eat it and happy to report that the both of us enjoyed the food. Delicious and yummy to eat, nice side portion of both ribs and chips It was perfectly cooked, definitely cook to the correct temperature. Even though you could only played for your order by cash, I don't even mind. The only bad thing on the evening is that the sign says it opened, even though it wasn't 5pm yet and door opened with no one there till the time. Noneless, we happily enjoyed going here and both of us would recommend anyone even living in the area or staying on holiday nearby to try it. Thank you Cook&Fry for our wonderful experience.

Excellent fish and chips well cooked and friendly service everything was cooked fresh upon giving order

This restaurant was outstanding! The food was impossible to criticise in any way. The dishes were all extremely well crafted and presented beautifully. Although a slightly limited dinner menu, it changed each day and we were still spoilt for choice. We stayed for 3 nights so enjoyed dinner and breakfast each day. The cooked breakfast was delicious and there were plenty of options. All the food we ate was extremely fresh. The staff were fantastic. So attentive and friendly.

We knew tge Royal Oak was under new management, and like to support local businesses. For Mother's day it seemed quite empty but went ahead and ordered. The condiment tray Came with salt, pepper,ketchup and vinegar! For Sunday roast, really! The meal arrived, plenty of meat, but so tough requested steak knives. Roasties seemed to be deep fried, frozen peas were al dente, Yorkshire crispy on the outside soggy in the middle, carrots were lovely. Requested horseradish sauce, twice as it hadn't been brought, after a long time. Requested extra gravy, and a tiny jug of same appeared at second request. We mentioned our concerns to waitress who clearly passed them on to management, and our last drink was given to us as a gesture of goodwill. We were so hoping they'd get the food right as we enjoy Sunday lunch out, but not bothering to talk to us about it means they won't know how sad we were for them!

The food was very tasty but late delivery … I’m waiting almost 2h for my food …. I order at 16:00 when they open and I receive the food at almost 18 o clock …….

An absolute brilliant pub with a warm welcome to locals and visitors alike. An excellent range of drinks and a well kept cellar to boot. The food is nicely presented and perfectly cooked by well known Chef Jai. Well worth a visit.

We tried the fish and chips cooked by the new owners and they were lovely 😋 Fish batter was perfectly crisp although fish was smaller than expected. The chips were very tasty too. Living just around the corner on Haydon close the chimney extractor fan noise is somewhat loud disturbing a peaceful night's sleep...the noise was not noticeable with the recent previous owners...any chance of reducing the noise in any way...thank you🤔🙋

Everything we had was delicious and didn't feel mass produced. The shop felt clean and covid safe. The staff were lovely, friendly and attentive.

Very poor customer service. Two very young employees who seemed to struggle to get ice creams without each other's help. One was meant over the ice cream unit looking like she was so hungover and didn't want to be there. I used my manners but had no thanks from them.

We found this place a few years ago and always treat ourselves here for lunch which is always very tasty. It's the same lady who still serves up delicious dishes from chicken satay to chow meins and Singapore noodles which again satisfied our bellies. We also like the mix and match she offers so you can try 2 of the dishes instead of just one. Very nice.

Previously impressed with this take away & decided to return whilst in the area. Had sent them a message about opening hours and the food which was not responded to. We were disappointed by the homity pie which was tasteless & the Thai pie was ok. The star of the show was the steak and Stilton pie. So the morale of the story is some things are excellent others are mediocre.

Popped in as I was passing. I haven't been in here for about 18 months or so. The general layout seems to have changed a bit. The cafe looked clean, bright and airy very few customers in. Staff were friendly and polite. I ordered a coffee and bacon sandwich. I'm not sure what strength the coffee is but it was unbearably weak. My bacon sandwich arrived with the sandwich placed on top of the napkin.....why? This only serves to make the napkin greasy. I wish cafes would stop doing this! I don't think the bacon was grilled, as it was quite tough.. Sorry Knotts deli I'm off to Orsinos next time I'm in town.

Great tasting coffee and real grown up Hot Chocolate. Delicious!! Menu looked inviting and will definitely try in the future. Staff friendly and welcoming! Lots of locals.....good sign to me!

Firstly the seafood is first class - probably the best I have eaten. I started with a seafood bisque which was awesome and followed with half a lobster, grilled with garlic butter. Secondly, the setting cannot be beaten! On the beach, looking to distant Dartmoor, facing west into the evening sun. Loads of atmosphere! Thirdly, staff are very efficient and friendly. Nothing too much trouble!
