The best restaurants in Sandford South Oxfordshire South East

We were lucky to find this gem - lovely place to visit ! Everyone was so friendly- we enjoyed bacon rolls in the cafe and treated ourselves to lots of treats in the shop ! I would recommend a visit - please support this community shop & cafe !

Nice pub. The only bitter was off, and if Dick Turpin owned a pub, it would be called the Chequers

I turned up at 20:30 and nobody was there. I rang the bell and then knocked on the owners door (after being shown where it was by another resident) and no answer. I waited for 15 mins and still nothing so I had to find another place to stay. This is terrible service and I want a full refund.

Came out of my way with my family to the oxford sainsbury’s cafe to get a good meal we saw on the sainsbury’s cafe menu online to turn up and see completely different! hardly selling anything just “soup” and microwaved bread basically. let alone not much food for children or vegetarians. don’t come here.

Absolutely Superb food. Everything is cooked from the freshest ingredients. Been going there for several years and it never stops being the best food to be found anywhere. Delightful simple tiny pub where everything is done with integrity.

Lovely menu and meal with my parents. Beautiful setting by the river and Amina the waitress was lovely 😍 Will go again and would recommend.

Fantastic experience for a place that has been long established. There are very nice extra touches, the welcome was very friendly, burger boards with chef patron name on it, tasteful menus and clean, unscrumpled paper. A really nice touch was that 4 sauces were put down before our mains arrived. A real touch. No service was demanded, purely an option on the PDQ machine. The food was excellent and the place was full but with enough spaces between tables it wasn’t imposing. They’ve got a lot so spot on, it’s no wonder they have lasted the length of time. Well done all, our new favourite place and we will be back.

Vinimos aquí para cenar después del golf cubierto. Es bastante terrible ser honesto. No hay mucha gente cenando allí, pero el servicio era lento. Se habían quedado sin pan de ajo lo que parecía ridículo. Claramente hacen un comercio rugiente en deliveryoo etc, así que no estoy seguro de si eso tiene un impacto en los niveles de existencias. Los pudines de los niños eran risibles - diminutos. El brownie era literalmente 2 bocados pequeños y la supuesta olla de fruta que acompaña al helado era literalmente 2 cortadores de una fresa y 2 pequeños trozos de piña. Comida mediocre y cara. No volverá.

We had some small plates for dinner as we had a large lunch. We had squid, some mushroom arancini and bruschetta. All were good size for starters and very tasty, especially the arancini. Service was excellent and staff are very friendly. Fairly small menu but what they had on offer looked good and our food was good value.
