The best restaurants in Sandford South Oxfordshire South East

We were lucky to find this gem - lovely place to visit ! Everyone was so friendly- we enjoyed bacon rolls in the cafe and treated ourselves to lots of treats in the shop ! I would recommend a visit - please support this community shop & cafe !

Took ages to work out what was going on here. Had to call a few times to get contact. I think the people are/were new. Breakfast was nice and the rooms spacious but outside it looks run down and derelict.

Came out of my way with my family to the oxford sainsbury’s cafe to get a good meal we saw on the sainsbury’s cafe menu online to turn up and see completely different! hardly selling anything just “soup” and microwaved bread basically. let alone not much food for children or vegetarians. don’t come here.

Absolutely Superb food. Everything is cooked from the freshest ingredients. Been going there for several years and it never stops being the best food to be found anywhere. Delightful simple tiny pub where everything is done with integrity.

We attended on Burns night. The restaurant was busy but not packed. We were served by David. I had the Burns night special which was very nice indeed, food was hot and well presented. My wife being gluten free had gammon with jacket potato and same applied to hers. The service was very good and presented in a welcoming manner. I would like to point out that behind us there was a very loud table, having had their food then decided to complain to David about the standard of it and said they had, had unforgettable evening. I’m not sure where that came from but one of the women became very abrupt and making demands which from where I sat was out of order, but credit to David he handled in a professional manner and calmed the situation down without effecting the other diners. We had a very enjoyable evening. Alan also served us and Mark behind the bar contributed to the success of the evening.

We came here for dinner after indoor golf. It’s pretty terrible to be honest. Not a lot of people dining there yet the service was slow. They had run out of garlic bread which seemed ridiculous. They clearly do a roaring trade in deliveroo etc so not sure if that has an impact on stock levels. The kids puddings were laughable - tiny. The brownie was literally 2 small bites and the supposed fruit pot that accompanies the ice cream was literally 2 slithers of a strawberry and 2 tiny chunks of pineapple. Overpriced, mediocre food. Won’t return.

Lovely meal to welcome in the new year. Our friends loved it. We had scotch egg, mushroom and terrine starters. Followed by lamb rump, chicken and pork belly. Finished with Baileys Creme Brûlée, Eton Mess and bread and butter pudding. All lovely. Bottle of Sauvignon was nice too. Only £29 but very nice.

We had some small plates for dinner as we had a large lunch. We had squid, some mushroom arancini and bruschetta. All were good size for starters and very tasty, especially the arancini. Service was excellent and staff are very friendly. Fairly small menu but what they had on offer looked good and our food was good value.
