This is a lovely cafe and shop run by volunteers and selling local produce. We had an excellent asparagus quiche with a salad. They also have an outside sitting area with direct access to a fantastic field and children's play area. There is a large tarmac car park and clean toilet facilities.

A community-based and volunteer-run cafe and shop, serving tasty snacks and light meals at extremely reasonable prices. Lots of books and magazines to read, toys for the kids and plenty of information about local events. A wonderful change from the commercial establishments to be found in nearby Oxford.

We’ve just moved into the area and this cafe was recommended to us by neighbours. It has proved to be absolutely delightful. The staff are warm and welcoming and the food delicious. The carrot cake was absolutely amazing. It’s location is next to an interesting kids playground plus toys inside for youngsters makes it very family orientated.

It's great that the village hall has been turned into a cafe. There is a decent selection of snacks and drinks and the building is modern and bright.

Local produce on sale. Wish the soup was ready when we were there because food looked good there. Run by volunteers and what a good idea to have a shop run by locals!

Interesting and quirky cafe and shop in Sandford, so much better than anywhere else around. Great range of cakes and treats plus a good range of off piste foodstuffs to buy in the shop.

We've recently moved to Sandford-on-Thames, and we're so happy to have the Talking Shop. You can refill your detergents, buy local produce on a Saturday morning, have a coffee/tea and simple food, sit inside or in the beautiful garden with access to huge children's play area, meet other people from the community, shop for specialities and top up your fridge. Such lovely volunteers helping. Absolutely happy :)

This is just the nicest place to come. Light and airy. Right next to a decent sized play park for kids. Low cost but lovely food. Friendly staff. A little toy area inside. And all in a beautiful village setting just 10 mins walk from the Thames. We love it here.

This is one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat in Oxford. Fresh veges come from their own organic garden. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Generous portions at prices that cannot be matched elsewhere. The location is also a fabulous, especially if you have young children. Directly outside is an enclosed recreation playground and just down the walking path is the River Thames and infamous King's Arms pub on Sandford lock.

I'm local to the Talking Shop and have been a regular since it opened. The quality and value for money of everything on offer is really striking, and I love that the menu is always changing to reflect the fresh produce from the garden. The café is bright and welcoming come rain or shine and the double-height ceiling makes it feel spacious, even when it's full! I love that there are toys for the little people, plenty of high chairs, spaces to sit outside and the opportunity to buy fresh and frozen foods, nice wine, locally-baked bread and cakes and even little presents and cards. It's a bit of a one-stop shop for our family, and we always see a friendly face. We recently asked the Talking Shop team to cater my son's Christening reception for 60 people, which was a huge success. It was so exciting to share this local gem with family and friends from far and wide. The food - cooked by Miranda and her team and using lots of herbs and veg from the Talking Shop's own garden - was superb. We are so lucky to have this kind of community resource right on our doorstep, and it has been a home from home during my maternity leave, when I've needed caffeine, a change of scene and a chance to flick through the paper or stare blankly into the glorious park outside the café. The coffee is SO much better than the chains offer, the cake is sublime and often with more than one delicious gluten-free or vegan option and they also sell fresh and frozen meat from a local farm, so I can go home with ingredients for a nice evening meal, too. It's such a short distance out from Oxford and a trundle downhill to the beautiful Sandford Lock (via the aforementioned fantastic park, ancient church and some beautiful houses to gawp at). It's so good that my sister, a coffee addict who lives on Bondi beach, loves to spend her time here when she's in the UK!

We came to do a charity walk and stayed in the family room. It was comfortable and a good size for 4 of us. We also enjoyed the breakfast and the staff were very friendly. Only downside was that there were quite a few flies in our room and a maggot in the shower. We did inform staff so I am sure it will be sorted.

Halal Cafe located in Didcot, family friendly environment with an excellent menu for adults & children. Excellent & respectful staff. Had a few items to share with family the double smash burgers, lahori lamb chops, peri wings & skin on fries were really delicious. Will definitely visit again when in or passing through Didcot.

I came in almost accidentally. I had a really bad experience with some hotel food that i decided I really needed a burger to satisfy my hunger, really not expecting to have the best burger I think i have ever had in England. I do not say this lightly as i travel lots and eat lots of food all over! Great quality smash burgers made to order which can be customised! I didn't get to catch the guys name, but he was clearly very passionate about food and told me a little of his background involving the butcher trade!

Went there to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The Crown were very good in that we were slightly late due to heavy traffic. The choice of food was very good and there was a quality menu available for children. Following placing our orders there was a little bit of time to wait as everything was freshly cooked to order. The plates were filled with appetising food. A thoroughly enjoyable meal which everyone including the youngsters are. Plates were cleared. The gammon was fabulous as was the pie dish - there was a choice of three pie dishes. The halloumi burger was also thoroughly enjoyed by the Birthday girl. Service was friendly, attentive and polite. The explanation of the types of house menu pie options was very thorough.
