Good village community pub, with the Parish Council meeting in one corner, locals putting the world to rights at the bar or in a few comfy chairs and at many tables. Dogs and children welcomed, with doggy bowls etc. Real beer, real food, real fire in winter, lots of tables and some comfy sheltered ones outside in the summer. BLISSFUL!

Was taken by family who live nearby. Great voice of drinks and top rank food. Hopetk be back when I visit area again.

What a fantastic meal, we all enjoyed very much the meals we had chosen. My wife had been wanting to go to the Crown for months, she had heard about the food served from friends, we were not disappointed. The lady who took our orders was very friendly, and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our dinnertime experience. Well worth a visit, which will be happening again, in the not to distant future.

Gorgeous pub with great atmosphere

Cute little community pub. Great food (massive servings)and a fun atmosphere. We happened to go on their weekly quiz night which was a hoot.

Great , well thought out menu, very friendly staff, comfortable seating. Best Sunday roast. Absolutely delicious, I always have a look to see what other pubs are offering but I know I'd be disappointed to go anywhere else. Number 1 in Oxfordshire for me.

We called in for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon and so it's probably not fair to judge the atmosphere on this visit. The staff made us feel welcome and the food was good

Relatively few reviews of pubs focus on the beer. The Crown gets it spot-on: fresh, locally sourced and well chosen. This is perfectly exemplified by their own-label 4% session IPA, Dash & Tipple, which is brewed for them by the nearby Amwell Springs brewery. It's a beauty and always well kept.

This is the first time we’ve been to The Crown in a very long time (before it was Community owned) and we will be back soon! Greeted nicely on arrival and shown our table. The service was excellent - friendly and timely. The vibe was cheerful and relaxed. The decor, very nice. Various meats to choose from for the roast. Other meals available at Sunday lunchtime if preferred. The plates were full and the food was cooked excellently. Prices for beer and wine were cheaper than expected. Sadly no space for dessert this time !

Our first family meal at this pub. Excellent food, the atmosphere was great and the staff were helpful, attentive and friendly despite being very busy. All the food was of excellent quality and quantity, very tasty and really good value. We will definitely be coming back.

What a wonderful pub! Great food, fantastic value and a good range of drinks and food. Kids food excellent and massive portions. The best steak and Guinness pie I've ever eaten. Family and dog friendly, really recommend a visit!

Lovely, atmospheric pub. The food was delicious and would have 5 stars but the portion size was small hence why 4 stars. A few extra potatoes would go a long way.

I was booked to go with a group for a Christmas meal, then tested positive for Covid. A quick message and my pre ordered 3 course meal was plated up and collected by my husband, so I could still enjoy my delicious meal at home. I am sure they won't want to be doing that regularly but it was excellent 5 star customer service. Thank you to all the team at the Crown Inn.

The food was home cooked and very tasty. The pub was spotlessly clean and staff very friendly. Very reasonably priced food. Hope to go back soon

This is what you imagine when someone says "english country pub". It has a great local community atmosphere, very relaxed, 100% dog friendly, great British food (burgers, lasanga, fish&chips, kids menu, puddings). There are board games to play too, which adds to the family feel. We will be back, and will bring friends and family with us too! Don't change a thing!!

A brilliant lunch and even though at an unusual time during the women's world cup final it was fantastic. The food was brilliant and the service very good. Well priced and great portions. We will be back for sure.

Enjoyed a really lovely lunch at The Crown yesterday - very welcoming staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

It's a beautiful pub but our dining experience was not great. Ham egg and chips, the egg and chips were both underdone, left us feeling greasy for the rest of the day. Service was very average too, shame as the pub is gorgeous.

Always going past this pub but decided to pop in so glad I did staff were amazing brilliant service best pine of Guinness I've had in my life but sadly wasn't able to get food but hopefully next time as well they love dogs here very dog friendly I would give this place more than 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 😎

Stopped for a quick bite of lunch . Burger and chips .. very nice and cooked just right . Was a little pricey as two of us with one drink each was £42 so not the best value but not off the chart ! Hence the 4 stars. Friend staff and a cool dog behind the bar 👍

Fantastic family friendly atmosphere, very welcoming and attentive staff, food was delicious, and they are equipped with a variety of family friendly board and card games to just pick up and play. The place is also SUPER dog friendly, to the point where they have a bowl of treats out for patrons to help themselves to. Will definitely return whenever I'm in the area.

A great story of community ownership. Very good food, unpretentious, and really friendly service. We were visiting Basildon Park from London, but looks like we'll have to be back here every now and then just to hang out! We liked the genuine vibe so much we ended up becoming shareholders in the pub - after just one visit! We encourage you to take a leap of faith and do the same ;)

A great country pub, with a decent menu, a nice garden and a cracking pub quiz on a Monday, which encourages a sense of local community and brings folks in from surrounding towns and villages to support the community-owned pub.

Came here for dinner last night, me and my girlfriend couldn’t of been more happy with our visit. Lovely service, super dog friendly and delicious food. Nothing to complain about at all.

Very busy and very grateful they had a cancellation so we could enjoy the Sunday Roast options. Really yummy and our party of three even managed to try the deserts too😋

First visit to the Crown in South Moreton for many years and was pleasantly surprised! Excellent service and had the best Sunday diner. Roast Sirloin of Beef was perfectly cooked, attentive staff a welcoming atmosphere. Dog and children friendly, and you can even order a doggy roast diner, which I did, as a takeout. Really enjoyable, will definitely be going again soon!

More promise from the 3 handpumps than I've seen in most pubs with 8. Nice busy local pub with all ages on a late summer evening past 10. Menus looked nice, though prices were... let's just call them fairly typical Oxfordshire village pub prices.

After seeing the great reviews on Google, me and my boyfriend decided to pop in for a meal. Safe to say we were very impressed. We ordered the baked camembert to start and it was to DIE for. Will definitely be returning just for this haha. I had the chicken and bacon salad for main and my boyfriend had the pie of the week (steak and guiness ale pie). Very tasty and generous portions! Lovely staff and atmosphere! Will definitely be returning!

We have just discovered this lovely village pub after reading all the write ups and reviews in the local area. We received a fantastic welcome from a friendly lady who is the epitomy of excellent customer service. Our meals were absolutely delicious and nicely presented with generous portions. The local beers were a great addition too. We will certainly be returning again soon and would highly recommend this welcoming village pub

Great pub. The food was superb, a refreshing change from the generic meals you get served at the chain pubs. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely visit again in the near future. It's a shame all pubs aren't like this.

Lovely food and large portions, when we arrived at approximately 3 pm the we were told that the kitchen was closed. 2 minutes later the charming lady that served our drinks came and said that she had spoken to the chef and would happily prepare food for us. This is what a proper British pub is, looking after its customers. If i could award 10 stars I would. Many thanks Ian and Liz Taylor.

Lovely place. Decided to visit here for a spot of lunch in way to Oxford based in previous Google reviews. Friendly staff and although we didn't book they were fine squeezing us in. Great idea having board games and cards to entertain your selves while eating and drinking. Would definitely visit again.

Fantastic community pub. The atmosphere is lovely and the place is beautiful. It has lovely sofas and a roaring fire. Basic menu but everything is well cooked and beautifully presented. Friendly staff too. It’s a wonderful place to have lunch or just have coffee and chill

This pub we were happy to find as it’s only 10 mins away from home! It was so lovely, the bar staff and even the locals were so friendly, it’s dog friendly and they have this great selection of board games which we played a few of. They had a little fire going which made it feel really homely, the food was a great price and REALLY good. We’re definitely going to keep going back here, absolutely loved it.

Firstly, please forgive me if I drone on and on about this pub. I’m finding it hard to write a short review for fear of leaving something out. Myself, along with a friend who was staying nearby, visited The Crown 22/07/21 as he’d passed the pub, wanted to try and thought it did food. I am RARELY impressed with a pub and to seek out a way that same night to leave a review is unheard of 😉 I’m not particularly a dog person but to see a “dog watering station” in the garden I thought was just a really nice touch. Very thoughtful. I’d ordered, before walking in, a Guinness and was a bit disappointed, upon entry, to see there were a few local brews available but the Guinness was well on its way. And a nice Guinness it was too. The pub just made you want to order something local. My friend ordered one of the local brews, whose name unfortunately I don’t recall, and my second pint was the ?????? Bridge from Loose Cannon Brewery which was great. I ordered the wild boar sausages which came with mash, gravy and a selection of vegetables and he ordered the steak pie. We had, which were excellent, some onions rings in batter on the side. Both meals were absolutely fantastic. I was informed, with a smile, when I asked that my compliments be passed to the chef, that complimenting the chef on his meal would only make it go to his head. And that’s exactly where it should go Chef. It’s hard to describe how absolutely tasty, well presented and good value these two simple dishes were. Let it go to your head Chef. They were excellent. The other reason I felt the need to comment were the 3 staff behind the bar. Welcoming, friendly, helpful and informative. The feeling / vibe was VERY positive which only improved upon seeing and overhearing them interact with other customers. It may be hard for me to describe a feeling to you, the reader, so I suggest you go try this place for yourself before you fall asleep reading me drone on and on. I challenge you to be disappointed. My friend commented on how much he’d enjoyed our stop and I would happily go out of my way to pay this pub another visit. For a very nice evening thanks to the three of you. Oh, and that probably now big headed chef too 😉 AND any other staff in the kitchen as well.

Very friendly staff and dog friendly result

I often visit The Crown after a dog walk and I've got takeaway burgers a couple of times during lockdown but this is the first time I've had a proper sit down meal. I ordered the sausage and mash and my partner got the pie, both of which were excellent! They have a good range of local beers on tap and have a beautiful garden to sit in when it's nice weather. Will definitely be back!

I moved a few weeks ago, I still treat this as my local, as it can still be a way home. Great service as usual !!

HI all, re take away meal. This Sunday 08 11 20 we had ordered a Sunday beef roast collected @ 12 noon went home with two preheated plates, with the amount in the bag we should have pre wormed bigger plates excellent meal for two well cooked & good price, will be back again. Joan & Howard Brett---- Shame about lock down!!

New tenants Di and Katie are ace. Pub is warm, lovely and clean with T&T in place. Had a good curry Weds night. Quiz on Monday but haven't done that yet. Proper pub, community owned. We'll definitely go back.

An exceptionaly good Sunday roast in this very stylish but unpretentious pub. Lovely friendly staff. Highly recommended. Only downside was my husband claimed these were the roast potatoes he'd ....after a withering look he clarified..when eating out.....ha ha

Found by chance. Stunning pub with welcoming roaring fire. Staff absolute delight, even when in garden they check up on you to see if need anything else. Definitely going back dog friendly as well.😃😃😃😃
