Table of 2 Saturday night 7pm November Service was great, very fast, very helpful polite staff but unfortunately that's the only positive thing about this review. seating is not great, not intimate at all, the only way I could describe our table is that it was down the middle aisle, with tables on both sides of metal rails. The tables were so close to each other we may as well have been a table of 4 with the strangers next to us. The table next to us was separated by waist high metal rails, but was so close to us we could hear all of their conversation as they could ours, no privacy at all. The restaurant could at least stagger the tables so that they are not as close or directly next to each other, honestly I cannot stress now how uncomfortable it was, and we found it very intrusive. We had high expectations for the food having eating in the lir steak restaurant, but the food was disappointing. Lamb very dry, chicken very very dry and the sag paneer had four bits of cheese in it! Flavour were ok. Over all wasn't anything special and we were left disappointed, for that reason we wouldn't return or recommend.

I started with Korean style prawns that were excellent. The quality of the prawns was very good and not at all watery ( like some restaurants serve), and the crispy coating was delicious. My wife had skewered sirloin steak with rosemary gravy (as her main dish), which was also excellent. My main was a 10 oz ribeye steak with chips and a pepper sauce that was not the best I've ever had but was very good. The dry ice added an excellent talking point to the meal. My dessert was a very tasty pistachio cheesecake. The service was excellent and both the staff and the manager were very attentive and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely visit again and will bring others.

We thought we would try Frankie’s and drove all the way from Woodchurch. We ordered two lattes mine was decaf and “Two mixed spice and cranberry warm scones with lemon curd and clotted cream.” as described on the cake board that we were shown. Sounded wonderful! We received our coffees, mine was tepid so I went to the counter returned it and asked for it to be HOT. The coffee came and was ok. Then the scones were bought over, together with what had been described on the cake board as “clotted cream.” The scones were like two bricks, stone cold, no lemon curd ! So again I went back to the counter and told the lady. She came over and took them back. A little while later she returned with the scones and “lemon curd.” I asked her if they had been warmed and was told yes. We found them to be slightly warm and easier to cut into, unlike the two bricks we received before. However the so called lemon curd was yellow runny custard like liquid and barely noticeably orange!! The so called clotted cream was in a little pot and was quite obviously the squirty cream you buy in cans. It was airy and sweet. I know what clotted cream looks like, it has a completely different texture and has no added sweetener. I have to say our first experience of this place will be our one and only. We won’t return and it was a waste of petrol and our time.

Two of us came here on spec on a dreary Wednesday lunchtime. At first sight we almost didn't go inside because it looked rather shabby but while sitting in the car park trying to decide whether to risk it, two people arrived and we asked if they'd ever eaten there which they assured us they had and they'd never had a bad meal. On going inside we received a warm welcome from the Landlord, ordered our food which turned out to be delicious (lamb chops for one of us and the salmon in lemon sauce for me). The chips, potatoes and vegetables were well cooked and the desserts (sticky toffee pudding/plum crumble) were very good too. Service was excellent. It's clearly a pub the locals value because lots of people arrived while we were there and were greeted as friends yet we didn't feel like outsiders at all. Yes, the decor is dated and the fencing outside a bit ramshackle but we couldn't fault anything about the food or service. I'd like to see the front door have a coat of paint because that was the most off-putting thing and made us hesitate as to what to expect inside. Go in, you won't be disappointed. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g1936909-d3206542-r973226471-The_Lord_Raglan-Staplehurst_Kent_England.html#

UPDATE… This store has been run into the ground, the lovely staff members have all left, one very nice young man “sacked” for a pathetic reason. We now go to Sainsbury’s and buy large rolls and fillings and make our own. What can one say.... it’s a big roll with filling. Staff mostly friendly. Can run low on fillings towards the end of the day.
