One of the reasons that I love Lewes is this pub. A hidden gem. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular and Cask Marque pub. A few years ago we hiked over fron Eastbourne and my sore feet were soothed by a few pints here. ( oddly, there was a Morris Dancer festival going on, hard on feet and hard on ears!) Casta and Madge were enticed by the pizza menu (10£ - 15£). I however had a Gales brewery ( Fullers) 3.6% Seafarer. A super locals pub. No TV's.
Had the vegan brunch which was delicious. We were on a visit from Lancashire for the weekend and very much enjoyed our visit to Bill's. Would highly recommend. Thanks to all staff concerned.
Great menu, delicious food and friendly and efficient staff.
Can thoroughly recommend this great pub restaurant: venison & bacon pie with very creamy mash and Sussex Smokie both excellent, followed by a lovely orange & chocolate torte.
The Ark is OK if you just want a drink, but it seems to have lost its atmosphere.
It used to have comfy seating, it used to have small tables to put your drink on with a few chairs to each table scattered around. Now it looks like a school dining room with dining tables and six chairs per table.
Decent selection of drinks though, and it’s probably nicer in the summer months when you can sit outside and watch the world go by.
(It does have parking, so that’s an advantage)
They serve to best toasted sandwiches I have ever had. The staff are friendly and helpful. A hidden gem in Seaford. And don't start me on the shortbread.
Lovely atmosphere, very friendly and attentive bar staff, best food ever. Shout out to Taylor for giving me the best customer service I’ve ever had.
Definitely recommend!

A very disappointing Mother’s Day lunch. Service was poor, we had to wait nearly an hour for our pre booked meal, despite the restaurant not being busy. When it finally arrived, the food quality was poor, vegetables were at best warm ( not hot), roast potatoes insufficiently cooked, and the gravy was thin and meagre. One of our party sent their meal back to be reheated in the microwave! The only redeeming feature of the meal was the desserts which were fine, and delivered promptly. We won’t be returning here to eat.
Lovely views of the 18th fairway of this excellent golf course though.
Went to this lovely pub on 20th December for a staff Christmas dinner. We received a very warm welcome from the wonderful bar staff. Our drinks were kept flowing all evening and the food was absolutely superb. The staff went over and above to make sure all tastes were catered for even providing a starter that was not on the set menu. We really appreciated your warm and attentive service and all staff members agreed that they would definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful start to the Christmas holidays for a bunch of weary teachers - its been a long term !!!!!
We were told the takeaway food would be about 20 minutes, so arrived after about 25 just to be sure. Unfortunately this was nowhere near how long it actually took. We waited an hour in the end for the food and quickly drove the 2 minutes home, when we arrived home everything on the order apart from one item was stone cold.
We ate the food because we were all hungry by this time and needed to feed the kids, the food itself wasn’t bad. But the wait and fact it was cold I probably wouldn’t return. Unless you’ve got plenty of time on your hands and like cold food! A shame because it’s the only kebab place in the village, during the week it’s still slow but better. Maybe I’ll drive the extra few minutes to Lewes in future…
A must visit shop if you are in Lewes. As on a ex-military reunion and I live in Northumberland, this shop is amazing with quirky, never seen before, ethical sourced gifts. I managed to get presents for all the family in the one shop. Hope one day to revisit Lewes. A fantastic town and a great shop.
