I went with a very good friend to this restaurant today (19/06/24) for lunch - The Old Dairy - at Goodnestone Park Gardens near Canterbury. The car park was very busy, and we wondered if we’d get seated, we were happy when we did and sat inside. There’s a variety of seating both inside and outside. It’s a nice airy area with good, but not harsh lighting. We were offered a choice of two tables. We each had a toasted sourdough sandwich which came with a small side salad. My friend had a cheese and ham one and I had the Brie and bacon with cranberry. See photos attached. I had tap water. My friend had a pot of tea and it was presented with a lovely dainty bone china cup + saucer (teapot left too). As they were relatively busy, her tea was getting cold whilst waiting for the food, they replenished the pot at no extra charge. The food was really tasty and you can see from photos tastefully presented. We weren’t rushed in any way which was nice. You pay at the till point. There’s a little shop adjacent to the restaurant which sells items such as tea towels, glasses cases, candles, books and lots of other items, mainly about the House and Gardens itself.

Whilst visiting Kerrys Bakehouse, one of our party had a minor medical problem, the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Kerry even offered to drive our brother in law to the local hospital in her own car. The food, staff, service and the owner were excellent. We thoroughly recommend this little gem in Deal.

I took my 90 year old mum in law to the bradeil retail outlet were the broadwalk cafe is situated. Unfortunately when accessing the retail outlet. Mum caught her foot in a loose anti slip strip on the disabled access ramp. This raised the loose board also tripping up myself. We were both on the floor. Staff and the manager got us up and the manager took us to have a seat in the boardwalk cafe. The owners gave us both a hot sweet tea. And as we had bruising they gave us ice packs in tea towels. A great gesture. After we had sat for about 40 mins we looked at there comprehensive menu and were surprised at the choice and value for money of the prices. In the end we plumped for the homemade Victoria sponge. It was very nice a decent sized slice at a good price. The boardwalk is a franchise within the bradeil wharf retail. And they went out of there way to help us so we will definately be back.

Spire’s Cafe - true hospitality. It’s not modern or has amazing decor. It’s an old church, converted into a cafe. We left our airb&b and walked around Deal and couldn’t find one that could set all 9 of us until we chanced upon Spire’s Cafe at 11am still serving breakfast!! The lady showed us into a side room. Yes, it has mismatched furniture (but I’d gladly bring home one of the dining tables which is most likely an antique!). We were served a full English breakfast with coffee (latte, cappuccino or whatever is your favourite) or tea. Then we were gifted with Bubble & Squeek!! (For those of us not familiar with this, it’s basically fried vegetables - potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli - or any leftover vegetables). And all just £8 each. Add £2 for two pieces of hash brown!

When I say how stunning this place is, it is an understatement. I have had a few different options here... The salmon and scrambled eggs are to absolute die for.. As is the Welly! The latte's are out of this world too and the staff are so friendly even when they are so packed out. Aimee served us a few weeks ago with such a positive smiley attitude and today I was met by Kelly who is just a ball of fun! The owners are so kind... Get in there early as it is clearly a fan favourite. Best brunch/breakfast I have ever eaten in Dover. No wonder it's popular!

We popped in for a quick coffee at this excellently located cafe. Service was prompt and friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. The food looked tasty- although we didn’t try any! We’ll certainly drop in again when time allows and sample the food, the menu looked excellent.

Tried to book through website. Order was awaiting confirmation for a while so called to check on it. My call was answered by a person who got instantly annoyed with me as he told me their website was down and to call back in an hour, proceeding to put the phone down on me. I called back 10mins later to try and just place the order via the phone. This was impossible and he just became very short and shouty at me, telling me he'd told me already what to do. My question I was trying to ask was, 'if I have to wait half to an hour to find out if their system was working how long would it take for a delivery after that?' This question he didn't understand and got very irate. Understandably I did not want to be waiting 2hrs to have my food when I can just use another kebab company. Again this man put the phone down on me after being extremely rude. Currently I have no idea if my order will go through and I certainly do not want it to if it did. This was my first time trying to use this company and I certainly will not try to use it in the future after this experience. If their system has a failure that they know about maybe they should update the app company they are using. Or at least have a person with a better telephone manner

With a group of friends we went to the East Kent Railway for my "train driving experience" on a day when there was no regular service. The light, airy, very pleasant cafe was open (as it is on every day except Mondays), so we had lunch first. There is a good choice of snacks on the menu (can certainly recommend the ham, egg and chips) and our meals were served quickly by very friendly, chatty staff. The meals were excellent value for money. There's plenty of seating (both inside and outside) on socially distanced tables. The cafe is also dog friendly and there is also a large car park nearby.
