Sea View in Dover

Great chips, unfortunately overpriced though. I bought a medium size portion of chips, they were fresh out of the fryer and cooked just the way they should be - nice and crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside. Probably the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Chips cooked, but white not lightly golden and luke warm. Fish was woolly and watery indicating it was probably thawed from frozen Batter crispy but very oily. All in all the seagulls got fed. Won't return

Excellent fish, with a light and crispy batter. Chips a touch anaemic, but tasted great, exactly like they should. Mushy peas also very good. Highly recommended, really hit the spot for a seaside fish&chips.

Fresh fish, good portion size. Nice light batter, welcoming staff. However, let down by the muddy salads at the side. We have notified the staff, they said salads have been washed but they would let the kitchen know. So hopefully no one else will get those again.

I've been coming here every couple of weeks for 4 years. Today, the chips were awful, only just cooked, yet some were burned, none were crispy. There was a smell of burned fat in the place. Today, Seaview, you no where near hit the mark. Sorry to have to write this.

Visited friends who have just moved locally. Food was excellent, I ordered Skate, so fresh it winked at me🤥. Had a laugh with the waitress which always helps, local,parking is free- what's not to like. Ps we came down in Mrs Schmitt.

Just been in was treated with immediate poor service food was bad no paper under the food so any salt and vinegar went strait through absolutely raging it’s something they should definitely take into consideration

Fantastic staff, great food, and not expensive

The deep fried halloumi starter was OK. The calamari starter was overcooked. We were not asked if we'd like anything more to drink. Service was slow as the food comes from the take-away which is very busy. Staff were friendly but left standing around while they wait for the food to be plated for the dining area.

Best fish and chips in the country!!

Was told by family how good this chip shop was, were from Essex, but got it home (back to families house) and the sausages were plain , just dipped and recooked in batter to make it a batter sausage, and the chips were hard due to how busy it was and the rushing trying to turnaround customers.. disappointed

A bit disappointed as shouldn't be so difficult to find fresh fish in a seaside town. Nice lady during the service. But I think you should definitely improve quality of the food.(especially because you sell fish) Sorry, because it could be a great fish place. Also I asked the cashier man if the fish was fresh or frozen and he said it was fresh. Well,definitely your prawns and calamari and skate wing wasn't fresh at all😌

The food was great,we had fish and chips and scampi as main and calamary and shrimps as starters.The reason I give 4 stars is the food was served with fries from a bag and the in the salad on both starters and main the cucumbers were off and looked slimy.It did not matched the authentisity of the place and the food they served.The service was very personal and great,portion size great ,the taste and value for money as well.

We recently visited Sea View Fish and Chips in Deal and were thoroughly impressed. Between the four of us, we ordered three portions of cod and one of rock, and all were fantastic. The cod was chunky, perfectly cooked, and full of flavour, while our friend thoroughly enjoyed his rock. The portion sizes were generous—we ordered two large portions of chips to share, and there was more than enough to go around. Everything was cooked beautifully, and it felt like great value for money. The premises were clean and tidy, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, which added to the overall experience. Parking was convenient too, with spaces available right in front on the road.

We had a lovely lunch today at the Sea View fish and shop on the sea front. Beautiful view with fantastic quality food and service.

Decent fish and chips, good spot on the sea front

My fried plaice was as big as my giant plate, beautifully cooked and presented, something really to cherish, great fish , my partner really enjoyed her (very) large haddock and so many chips. Both fish were caught locally and landed just a hundred yards or so from Sea View. Nice personable friendy serrvice, very helpful and this really helped make a mid afternoon meal into an event. Even few weeks later we still talk about this place (and my mega-plaice of course). Good range of drinks including wine for my lady and low alcholic beers. So very glad we came in here on the off chance.

A welcoming fish and chip restaurant with great friendly service, and gluten free options, which is a real rarity ! They have gluten free vinegar, as well as scampi ( very nice) and because its Christmas, pigs in blankets!

Great fish n chips , mostly with a view of the pier and beach. The fish sizes are very big and the chips as sea side chips should be with a reasonable serving too. Prices considering quality and view are good.

We decided to eat in instead of our usual takeaway, as it was cold and windy. Despite the restaurant being half-empty, the waitress refused to put our order through until 2 of the adults who weren’t eating left. The two asked to leave were grandparents paying for a coffee to wait out of the cold. We had ordered 3 main courses between the two adults and three small children which seems reasonable. All had ordered drinks to pay for. When we questioned the logic of asking people to leave a half empty restaurant, she said she was there to “enjoy her day at work.” We replied that we were there to enjoy our meal as a family. We paid for our drinks and left. Deal has plenty of fish and chip shops—go somewhere more welcoming if you’re with children.

We visit Deal several times a year and Sea View is one of our favorite places to eat. On this occasion, we ate with family and at a table. Table service was as expected and food was nice, hot and tasty. The portion size is very much smaller than the take away and on this occasion, it was very unfortunate as I received what can only be described as mostly chip "bit's", while the other three people had a good portion size of normal chips. On this occasion, I clearly got the last bits of chips that were left over, before a fresh portion was served to the other three people at the table. On this occasion, I did not feel comfortable complaining due to the people I was with. On any other day, the chips would have been sent back, with a request to receive proper chips. That said, we will continue to visit and at this time recommend, as this is our first bad experience at Sea View with being served chip "bits", rather than proper sized chips. We would also not use the restaurant area again, as portion sizes were much smaller than take away portion sizes. A number of customer images on Trip Advisor will also show this.

Lovely old-fashioned fish and chip restaurant (takeaways available) on the Deal seafront. Good and friendly service. You get a lot of fish and chips for your money!

Three of us had cod and chips in the cafe. The place was clean and the staff friendly and attentive. The food was well presented and my first impression was that this was a very large portion of fish, however, it soon became apparent that this was a large portion of batter with the thinnest piece of cod I have ever had. The chips were well cooked but tasteless, the salad was also bland not to mention unwanted with fish and chips. Will back to Papas in Folkestone and the Mermaid in Broadstairs but not here unfortunately.

Disgusting service from the older Lady at the till. Extremely rude . Food was terrible , I actually had to return part of the order which was inedible , to be met with a sarcastic reply from the Staff. Chips were tasteless and a shockingly small portion for the price. Would never eat here again. Complete rip off and up there with some of the rudest service I have ever encountered .

We visit Deal a number of times during the year and pop into the Sea View every so often. the fish and chips have never disappointed us and are always freshly cooked, hot and tasty, with nice big chunks of fish being found under the batter, showing a proper haddock fish. We take away and often eat opposite looking out to the sea and pier. Staff are always friendly and polite and it's always nice to see the food cooked to order.

Visited here on bank holiday Monday with no hope of eating in the restaurant but was pleasantly surprised to be accommodated! From being helped in with a wheelchair user on arrival, to having 7 lovely, fresh, prompt meals served up to us and nothing being any trouble for the lovely lady serving in the restaurant. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! (& my husband said you do the BEST curry sauce he's ever had!)

First time visit with family and friends. Lovely meal and great service. Was very busy but quickly seated and food arrived in good time also. Curry sauce is delicious and the batter was fresh and crispy. Would recommend!

I am wheat gluten and lactose free but you can get scampi and chips which is lovely and the service is so good missed the young lady with dark hair but everyone has to have a night off, looking forward to going back

Lovely chips and location and service, but no good for vegans in particular Gluten Free Vegans. Excellent polite and efficient service. Would love to see Beyond Burgers and Gluten Free buns or Gluten Free battered onion rings/mushrooms etc.

Waited over 25 minutes for our order, but when we came to Eaton, the chips were rockhard very disappointing

We have used this chip shop many times but today 13th August 2024 the fish was o/k butt the worst part was the chips they were flavourless and so crispy that they were hard to eat and tasted awful (worst chips ever). We will never be using this shop again and its a pity that this was once the best place in Deal for fish and chips but not any more.

When we ate here we had my grandson with us Felix is autistic & when he is excited or distressed he can be quite loud . I not only found the food & service excellent but the staff were so nice & understanding . We were visiting from Reading i wish they were local 2 me & i would eat there all the time . I can't recommend them highly enough

We've been regulars at this fish and chip restaurant for about four years, and it's always been excellent. However, we were disappointed when we went there on Sunday after driving for 2 hours from Hertfordshire for our anniversary. The portions were noticeably smaller, and the chips looked almost white, as if undercooked, however, they weren't. The worst part was the taste and texture; the chips were flavourless and so crispy that they were hard to eat and tasted awful (worst chips ever). I voiced my concerns to one of the female staff members, mentioning how many times we've dined there and how disappointing this experience was. I asked them to inform the manager, as our meal was far from enjoyable. I doubt she did. When the second staff member brought the bill, I reiterated my complaint, but she barely responded before taking our £43, which we felt was a steep price for such a subpar meal. To make matters worse, she and the other staff member stood near the fryer, watching us and giggling. We get better takeaway fish and chips from our local fish and chip shop, larger and tastier portions of fish and much better chips that taste nice. We won't be returning in the future to this restaurant.

Great lunch, table available on a hot sunny Sunday. Three of us had cod and chips, chips were light and fluffy.

One of our favourites in Deal. Great fish, chips and battered sausage. My only ask would be that they put gravy on the menu.

We had to wait a little while for a table, but it was lunchtime and obviously busy. Well worth the wait! The Haddock and chips were delicious. Not greasy, just perfect. Would thoroughly recommend this place. Friendly service too.

As frequent visitors to Deal we have been to Sea View fish and chip shop on many occasions. Unfortunately, on our last couple of visits there has been a noticeable decline in the quality of the food. On a recent visit we were shocked by the small size of the piece of fish my husband ordered and the tiny bits of scampi (and not many of them) that I ordered. The portions of chips were a reasonable size but not over generous and were ok but that’s all. A few days later we decided to try the fish and chip shop in Walmer a short distance away and it was fantastic! The fish was much bigger and beautifully fresh and the scampi pieces were much larger and delicious. This is now our “go to” chippy in the area.

Absolutely dreadful service and the waitress couldn't add up 2 meals and 2 drinks even with a calculator! got it wrong again when I queried it and asked to see the menu and added it up again. came down from £33 to .£25 SO BE CAREFUL. she undercharged my brother in law for his meal and then had the cheek to follow him to the toilet to askfor more money! he paid but I know what I'd have said!

We came across this astonishingly good fish and chip place by chance. The food was the best of its type we’ve had in years. Piping hot, crispy and delicious. Excellent friendly service and very clean and fresh surroundings. And a sea view for good measure!

Gosh! The former staff member review speaks volumes!! I came to get a cod and chips a couple of months ago. I always ask for medium (or large) cod and small chips. I've never had a problem in any other shop in New Malden or Folkestone. Or anywhere actually. When I asked for small chips, the chap said they couldn't do that. But that he'd charge me medium and then give me small. HUH?!!! I was so shocked, that I stood there dumbfounded. Stupidly I paid and left with the food. I should have just walked out. Needless to say, I won't be back.

Fantastic gluten free scampi and chips. They also had gluten free sausage and fish cakes.

They offered gluten free options which we were delighted by, the scampi had lots of filling and were tasty. The staff were really nice too

Amazing fish and chips restaurant .We ordered large haddock and chips also drinks, spent less than £20 per person. Everything was so fresh and tasty, staff polite and friendly very helpful. If U'll visit Deal don't miss them strongly recommend

Earlier today me and my family came in for lunch. There was only 5 of us and we waited patiently to be seated, an older women with short hair and glasses asked us how many of us there was and we said 5. And then told us to follow her into a different room which we did then she proceeded to say “ it told you to wait out there” in a very harsh tone. we thought this was very rude and left instantly. Was very disappointed as was looking forward to some fish and chips for lunch.

This very busy and friendly family run fish and chip shop makes wonderfully fresh and tasty fish and chips at a fair price. We have visited before and it is consistently good. If you're visiting Deal, then you must try Sea View.

The chips were good, the fish watery and tasteless. Might have been fresh last month. Mush covered in batter.
