Tony's Fish Bar in Dover

We keep returning as they do the best fish & chips in town, we have never been let down. Everything we order has been cooked from fresh, you might have to wait around for 5 minutes or so but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Called in for fish and chips supper after shopping. Order 2 large cod, a large plain sausage and 1 large portion of chips. All cooked while we waited so lovely and fresh. The fish portions were really big and very well cooked. Light bubbly batter and soft moist cod inside, perfect. The chips were amazing. Large fluffy chips, hot and golden in colour. Served in separate boxes the food was well worth the money. Would be happy to recommend this takeaway to anyone.

Had fish and chips last night from Tony’s in Dover. Have used this chip shop for over four decades........the quality of the fish was exceptional. Chips great too. Overall, the best fish and chips we have ever tasted.😁 Keep up the good work, staff exceptional.

Not great haven’t been for over a year and really don’t think we will go again soon. Semi warm chips over cooked burger and as for the battered sausage even the dogs didn’t want it obviously been sat in a warmer

Massive portions and great price... But the best thing is how fresh it is every time! Order came out quick even though it was all cooked fresh, plenty of staff to deal with the many customers!

We've recently switched our fish and chip supplier, having become tired of always getting soggy batter from our previous place. Having had three or four visits here now, Tony's is uniformly great, with all the fish coming in separate boxes rather than getting wrapped in paper which causes the sogginess, and the the chip potions are huge - we can order one large and it covers all three of us! Highly recommended.

Second time ive used Tonys and Tonys will definately be my fish and chip shop of choice from now. The portion sizes are great. The batter is crispy and plentiful. Chips and fish tasty. Well packaged and most importantly the couple running the shop and other staff are friendly and clearly proud of their product.

Over the years we’ve tried many fish and chips takeaways in Dover, some more successful than others but recently, well past few months, this has been the ‘go to’ one of choice in our house. The fish is always freshly cooked, sausages are bangin (so my youngest tells me) and the chips are great. Couple this with very good portion size and a price that is very good, it all makes sense why we come here on a regular basis. The staff serving are brilliant, friendly and always have a smile. Top takeaway, will continue to use and we will continue to recommend.

Huge portions of chips. Lovely tasting chips. Cod is such good value. Large cod and chips only 7 pounds and enough for two people. Not keen on their saveloys but battered sausage is lovely. Friendly staff. Generally a queue but worth the wsitFree parking right outside. Good paper carrier bag given which makes it so much easier to get food home in. Take away only

After a night out we was recommended the fish bar from a local.Good staff and very polite.ordered 2 x large cod and chips.The fish was well cooked and tasty, however for the price a bit small. Chips were vey nice and plentiful.Could not resist a spam fritter - very nice.We would definitely use again

Tony's Fish Bar couldn't be rated high enough. Second time I have been here. Even Whitby doesn't do quality fish and chips as good as this. The staff are so friendly and helpful too. Definitely recommend a visit here.

A group of us popped in before our team Aldershot, were playing Dover on Good Friday. Very warm welcome freshly cooked skinless large cod and chips. Given some free tandoori spiced chips as a taster- great little chippy.

Stopped off following a last minute decision to grab fish and chips on a wet and cold evening.Very nice. Good hearty portions and the quality of my battered Cod would certainly leave me thinking that a return visit to Tony’s would always be considered.Decent chippy.Recommended.

It’s alright for a quick grub but nothing special anymore... Quality had gone down after the old management left. There don’t seems to be any freshness and flavour in food, mostly blend.I think staff needs to be concentration on hygiene as there are couple of boys serving and cooking in there who stink like cod themselves... really scruffy cloathing and eyes filled with sleep. Really will put you off so Manager needs to give them a wake up call or just get them a shower gel from Poundland ...

I ate hear at least a couple of times recently. Both times the fish was cooked to perfection. The chips, however, could have spent more time in the fryer. I also tasted the chicken which was cooked quite well, it was crispy on the outside but slightly greasy on the inside. Although it wasn't perfect I would recommend this chippy to anyone.

Staff always friendly, quick service, fish cooked to perfection. Would not buy anywhere else. Reasonable prices

fantastic savaloy really floated my boat. very glorious chips, I like them because they are cooked to perfection. inside stools make me very happy, I can perch in comfort as I munch my savaloy. straight down the hatch! <3 recommend tobley to anyone. Went to Dover for the day and we both went to Tony’s for a fish and chips, as he is says it is very good and the best in Dover. However, the only good thing about this shop was the coke to wash down the awful after taste of the soggy chips and the dry chicken nuggets.

Had take away fish and chips, whilst visiting Dover having read the trip advisor reviews. The meals were a decent size and good quality. Well packaged and kept warm for trip back to hotel. Good value, friendly staff.

Estábamos de vacaciones en calle Margaret's Bay en Dover y decidimos que nos apetecía un pescado y llevar chip, para disfrutar de unas vacaciones de vuelta en nuestro alojamiento en el sol. De hecho parecía en algunos comentarios y vi que el pescado bar Tony's llegó como muy bueno, así que nos dirigimos a este establecimiento.

This used to be best in town for its Fish since being taken over a couple of weeks ago dramatic reduction in Fish sizes so its a no no from now ! ! ! Hate being riped off ! !

Had lovely fish n chips Friday night. The portions where extremely generous , the cod was massive, filled the box it came in & on the plus side for me the fish had been skinned before battering. My new favourite chippy.

Great chip shop, big portions, fresh food and friendly staff. Never had a bad take way and I've been using them for around 4 years now

Enormous portions, but really not that great. The fish was good, but the soggy chips and batter killed it unfortunately.

If you want real British fish &amp; chips this is the place for you, good size portions at great prices.

Visited 16th April 2105.We had not heard of the Samphire Hoe and decided to visit.So we checked out "Trip Adviser" for the best take away fish and chips in Dover so we could eat them at Samphire Hoe after which we would walk the dogs and walk off our lunch.We were not disappointed with "Tony's Fish and Chips" they were excellent, good portions and very reasonably priced.It might have had something to do with the fact that we mentioned that we looked on Trip Adviser for the best chippy and Tony's had come up trumps. So anyone visiting Dover and fancy a Fish and Chip Lunch or dinner they might well be advised to mentioned Trip Adviser. Said with big tongue in cheel....LOL

Arrived in Dover from weekend in Paris, thought I'd give Tony's fish bar a try wasn't disappointed. Nice piece of fish and a good portion of chips very tasty!

Visited January 2015, one lunch time, at about 12:15. Opening time is 11:45 and I'm guessing I was one of the first customers of the day. I like my chips freshly cooked - and mine weren't. Definitely not one of the best chippies in Dover judging by this performance

It used to be my regular chippy but the last 2 occasions i received very greasy chips and rude service. It's soo difficult to make a queue always bumping into people.

I've visited this chip shop a few times after trying others and I think that it's got to be the best in the area. The food is excellent and the portions are very generous. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them . The only downside is that the owner is a Newcastle United fan, but we all have our crosses to bear :)

Very over priced now chips are extremely greasy and over cooked rolls are always dry the staff are always friendly better off going to cherry tree chip shop so much nicer!!

My wife &amp; I moved to Kent just over 6 years ago, it has taken us some time to find a good Fish &amp; Chip shop in the area.We have tried all of them in the Dover area.Tony's is the best by far, the food is aways cooked freshly why you wait, the staff are so friendly and most helpful, the Fish &amp; Chips are always excellent, as are the chicken portions.So if you are in Dover don't miss out on Tony's as it is always worth a visit.

Having tried to get food from Whitfield Fish and Chip Shop on a Friday night (don't even try) we ended up here. Great service for our large order (9 people). Fish of a good quality.

I have tried most of the fish and chip shops in Dover and can honestly say that this is one of the best.. Staff are friendly and one female member of staff knows all her regulars. The prices are fair and the portions are large. I had the cod and it was fresh, tasty and not in the least dry - very succulent in fact. There was a queue - always a good sign! Once I reached the head of the queue and placed my order there was a wait of several minutes but that was because the food was being cooked so when I got it I knew that it was straight from the fryer. Chips were crispy and one large portion served three of us! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try a nice fish and chip meal at a reasonable price.

Tried this on the suggestion of a friend. On the plus side the portions are generous and the staff very friendly. On the minus side after just a few minutes travelling back home the fish had firmly glued itself to the paper and removed all traces of batter when putting it on the plate. The chips were so soft you could tie knots in them without breaking them and all in all it was an unappetising mess of food and we left 3/4 of it. They will for 10p sell you a paper bag which might have solved the problem but I will never know.

Recently tried this Fish &amp; Chip shop for the first time, having previously been a fan of the Happy Fryer. I was impressed, and three visits later this is now my favourite Fish shop in Dover. As others state, large skinless tasty pieces of fish, well cooked. Friendly service. Only thing preventing 5 stars is that on each occasion, the batter covering the lower side of the fish has stuck to the paper, making removing the fish from the paper somewhat difficult. Although on taste and quality of fish, can't be beaten in my opinion.

Easily the best in the Dover area no one I know can fault it great portions lovely skinless and boneless fish lovely batter
